  6. last time i was out, the water was in the low 80's but my little eagle cuda said that the temp was -4°????? it was providing pretty accurate depth readings, but for some reason the temperature was way off. it wasnt like this the time before last. any ideas as to why its like that?
  7. yeah that is probably true. i havent tried to see if i could take it out though. if my dad and i are really interested, we will call him and see if we can take it for a spin.
  8. the sticker on the boat said that with boat motor people and gear it should weigh no more than 1030, and there wont be any people in the boat when its being towed so it should be a little under 1000lbs. am i misinterpreting the sticker or something?
  9. Kind of flattering boss,....I never knew you had an LBH side to you ;D If a peanut hitch is for up to 150#, I wouldn't go much over 70-80# direct to the bumper. a 12' jon is only about 30lbs tongue weight though. what size boat were you thinking of pulling with it. truck: 2000 nissan fronteir, 4 cylinder, 2 wheel drive (rear) boat: 17' aluminum tracker (as described in the boat section). the boat itself might weigh 1000lbs. on the little coast guard sticker that says the weights and capacities, it said "boat, motor, persons, gear, 1030lbs."
  10. ok guys thanks for the advice. i dont know if this guy would let us take it out on the water or take it to a mechanic before we buy it or not. he has a pair of those ears that he will include with the boat. the man said that if we buy it he will start the motor up for us...i thought that was weird. why not start i for us before we buy? how much does it cost to take it to a tracker center and have it inspected?
  11. whats the most you guys would tow using a ball hitch on the step bumper of a pickup truck?
  12. hey guys. my dad and i were just looking at a 1988 tracker. its a 17 foot aluminum boat with a 70hp mercury and a trailer. everything on it is 1988. the boat is in pretty darn good condition for being 20 years old, and the guy said that the motor runs fine, and so does the motorguide t-motor. working aerators and plenty of storage. two pedestal seats. do you think that it is a good deal for $2500?
  13. ok i know this is a serious matter but, who saw The Colbert Report last night? Stephens little segment on this supreme court ruling was hilarious!
  14. Rapala original floating minnow in gold. size 9:
  15. thats great! having an awesome day at a new pond totally rocks!
  16. this happens quite often at the local park. people will either turn their spinning reels upside down or their spincasters underneath their rod! i've actually seen them do this: if their fishing a spinning rod with the reel underneath (correct) and they look over at someone fishing with a spincast or baitcaster ontop of the rod (also correct) the person with the spinning reel will turn their rod so its on top and start fishing like the ppl with the casting reels! its funny. i saw one guy look over at me when i was fishing my baitcasters and i watched him flip his spinning reel over. its also hilarious to see some people trying to cast. they will swing their rod back so far the tip almost touches the ground, and then swing it forward with so much force but either release the line too early and it goes straight up or too late and it smacks the water right in front of them. at my local park, its always fun even if the fish aren't biting because i can watch how silly people are! ;D
  17. GREAT POST!!!!!

  21. i got the idea off of mattlures website. perhaps a sharp, single, 4/0 gamakatsu EWG would have hooked those fish.
  22. www.basspro.com www.cabelas.com www.***.com my local walmart sells 10" culprits, but thats all the big worms they sell.
  23. i dont think the single hook will have any issues as far as the bait rotating. it would not be much different than catching a fish on a soft plastic lure with a single hook. if anything, it will help keep fish on because it gives a little. its kinda like a shock absorber. instead of it being rigid and not moving, it will give to the fish. i think this would help because a rigid hook would pop out but a hook that has some give to it would just bend. because its positioned between the two legs, they kinda prevent it from laying totally horizontal. the most it seems to move is about a 45° angle. this angle puts the hook point right at the "corner" of the raised portion, which is where a double hook is anyway. but, this is just from handling the bait. i will let you all know how it preforms out on the water.
  24. sweet! he did not actually fish with the bracelet, did he? now THAT would have been cool!
