  1. Elijah Craig 12yr and Woodford Reserve are two of my recent favorites. For more inexpensive bourbon you can't beat Evan Williams black label and Ezra Brooks.
  2. My buddy and I have developed quite the jerky recipe. It works for beef or venison, so long as you cut your meat ~ 1/4" thick. Basically it is 1/3 soy sauce, 2/3 worchesterschire sauce, a good bit of liquid smoke, enough onion powder to cover the surface of the marinade in a bowl, enough garlic powder to cover the surface, a good couple pinches of brown sugar, and most importantly, a sh!t ton of black pepper. In reality all these ingredients can be altered to taste or depending on how much meat you have. Sometimes we like to thrown in some chipotle sauce or some crushed red pepper.
  3. My girlfriend has recently taken up gardening. I don't know much about it, just what she has briefly told me, but I know she is doing the "square foot gardening" variety. I built her a garden box 2 feet wide, 3 feet long, and 1 foot deep recently which we have stained and coated with polyurethane. She has been growing many sprouts indoors, herbs, tomatoes, lettuce, strawberries, I'm sure I'm missing some. She has also bought seedlings of a few vegetables from local nurseries, broccoli and asparagus I think. Anyway, now that the weather is warming up she intends to move them outdoors into the box I built for her. Anyway, I hope it all works out because it would be pretty sweet to have all these fresh veggies to eat for the summer. Now I gotta convince her to grow hops!!!
  4. Big Brother is strong in this one. I should probably take note.
  5. My girlfriend is getting a masters in museum studies. I root for her.
  6. legalize dope.
  7. I just got a pair of prescription polarized sunglasses from American Optical. They will be arriving via UPS tomorrow and I will let you know how they are then, but I can say that based on my non-prescription pair of the same glasses that I have had for a year or two, I think I am going to be pleased.
  8. LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
  9. Haha thank's mang. I wish I kept track of my crappies but that is probably one of my personal besteses.
  10. I most certainly do have a favorite fishing hat. In fact, it is the only hat I will wear while fishing. It is a St. Croix hat I got when I was probably 16? years old? I have had it for a loooong time.... most of the embroidery on it used to be a dark, rich navy blue color but now it has faded to a pale, sun-bleached purple color from years and years of sun exposure. Edit: I have been searching for pictures for quite a long time (I got distracted and nostalgic looking at all these old pictures) and I have determined that I got this hat in 2007. Here is a picture of me in my St. Croix hat in March 2008 And here is (sadly) the most recent picture I can find at the moment (though I'm sure other, more recent, pictures exist), May 2013 I think me and that hat have grown quite a bit in these past years.
  11. LBH popped in a couple days ago. I think he's busy growing for the medical marijuana industry and recently got married and bought a house. I remember 5BL but haven't seen him around in a looong time.
  12. You need to delete System32 ASAP. Nah MBAM should fix you up.
  13. You and I both
  14. Boy you can really tell it's winter in here, huh
  15. Well that was a refreshingly light LiveLeak video
  16. I'm working toward a BS in environmental science right now, with lots of GIS courses. Nothing to really contribute here but it's fun!
  17. Oh I thought of another thing... Since you are painting a jointed bait without taking it apart, you might want to build a rig that will keep the bait taught while you are painting, so that your painting matches seamlessly from piece to piece. It's a little hard to explain but you can take something that will bow around the bait (like the frame of a coping saw... though I'm not sure how big the bait is... it might not fit inside a coping saw frame) or build a rig that applies tension to the nose and tail. Just put some pretty strong elastic on one side of the rig and attach it to the nose/tail, then pull the bait so it reaches to the other side and fix it to the other side. I confused myself writing that so here's a diagram:
  18. Wax should work the same way but I imagine it would be more difficult to apply and remove than Vaseline.
  19. Oh my god I want this
  20. You might want to consider applying Vaseline on the hinges in the joints with a toothpick or something, so that paint won't adhere to them. Depending on your clear coat, this might not do you much good... something thick like Devcon will just flow around the hinges and harden anyway. Vaseline might work to keep a spray on clear coat off the hinges though.
  21. Buy a compressor with as big of a storage tank as your wallet/work space can afford. You wont regret it. Fill the tank up and then you have a longer supply of compressed air before the compressor kicks on to fill it back up. I bought a Husky air compressor from Home Depot for around $100, I don't remember exactly but I think it has around 2-3 gallon tank on it. So the compressor only kicks in a few times during painting, and it usually when I spray liberal amounts of air and water through my airbrush to clean in between paints.
  22. Good to see you around. I had gone into hiding for a few years too but now I'm trying to poke my head out around here whenever I can. Heard from Tin2Win lately?
  23. I drive a black pickup... score! It's a bit of a hoopty though....
  24. Pssssshhhhhhhh.... I've had this bad boy: http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-VN530-octane since it was released. I don't even know how long ago that was, probably 3 or 4 years now but it is still going strong. I can't even tell you how many times I have dropped it from shoulder height onto concrete... it is so scratched and dented it is pathetic. The silver bordering around the edges has actually cracked in several places and I can pull if off and snap it back on as I please. The paint is chipping off of some of the keys. I love this phone. It was an upgrade from the EnV3. I despise touch-screen smart phones and I am going to make it as long as I can without buying one.... I fear that someday my QWERTY flip phones will stop being produced and I will have to buy a smart phone.
  25. Based on the sample I drew for my gravity readings I think this is going to turn out to be a very good and tasty first brew. I am very excited!!
