  1. My first thought is the Jets got played by Mr. Bill in New England again. He goes and fakes interest in Tebow and the Jets jump into the fray to get him.
  2. Seeing pics of some great fish congrats to everyone!! Hopefully soon things will settle down a little bit and I get get over to BH to try my luck and hopefully meet some more of the guys. Have a tourney saturday on the lower so it won't be this weekend.
  3. Well after getting a 3/8oz chatterbait to the face Sunday I will add it is still a good idea to have cutting pliers in the boat for more than hooked fish. With nothing to cut the hook I had it there until hospital maintenance brought up a pair to cut it.
  4. It is purely a personal preference thing, everyone is different. Best thing is to go with what feels comfortable to you.
  5. Got some fishing in on the lower Potomac yesterday, bite was very slow. The lipless crank bite I had been hearing about was nonexistant. Got a couple on plastics but I got none which would have measured for my tourney next week. My boater said he found a couple things so hopefully they pan out for us. And I agree, Sean is "THE MAN"
  6. I think what some are wondering is why does it really matter. Both people are there for a purpose, that purpose is being achieved, nothing else is happening. Once your done, wash your hands and out the door. Nothing else happens.
  7. Welcome!! Great to see another Maryland angler. In the Northeast section there is a large Maryland Who's Who thread. Tons of information for local fishing areas.
  8. This is done to reduce friction which can weaken the line and cause line breakage.
  9. Of all the things in life to worry about to me this is not one of them.
  10. Bad trait is easy, migraines. Bad habit, not easy for me to leave my comfort zone and try new things. There are a few things in life I want to try or see. But always seem to talk myself out of them due to whatever excuse come into my head.
  11. Man, some great lookings catches these last few pics can't beat catching smallies like those. No smallies for me so far, heading out sunday to prefish for a tourney on the lower Potomac so won't be this weekend either but hopefully with the weather the LM will be active.
  12. Time to come out of the bathroom Chris, less than 2 weeks until the first tourney. By this time next week I will know what boater is stuck with me for a partner.
  13. Rhino, not sure how far the comparison between hockey and soccer goes. Hockey is a faster, more physical game with way more action.
  14. The parking is horrendous to put it mildly, if the weather is in anyway decent it will be full of people going to the little park there to watch the planes. This is in addition to numerous people trying to put boats in, a good portion them have no idea what they are doing. I fish as a coangler, so my stops are up to my boater. I just hope he doesn't go to the poopy plant (Blue Plains).
  15. Sorry man, but soccer and baseball are the two most boring sports to me.
  16. if I remember correctly it has been in 2 years, just each year its pulled for winter. But when its in it is giving information for exactly where we need it. As for listing it as "Upper Potomac" I have no idea, this is the only place I have ever seen anything below Great Falls called that. This is still in tidal water, how its "upper" I don't know. Interested to see how this area goes over the next two weeks, my club's first tourney of the year is on the 24th out of Gravely Point.
  17. This won't help right now but hopefully soon. http://buoybay.noaa.gov/locations/upper-potomac.html#twoj_fragment1-2
  18. Yesterday was a change from the norm, usually when I pick the spot to fish Sean catches everything. But I kind of like this way better.
  19. This is an old post, ptomacbass (aka Nick) joined the club I am part of when he turned 15 the youngest age allowed in the club.
  20. Made it out yesterday with Basser89, great day to be outside. The action was slow, we only managed two fish. The first one turned into a drama though, I didn't realize my line was blown across a log partially sticking out of the water. When I tried to reel in the fish the line buried in the wood and I couldn't get it off. the log was 15 or so yards away so not much i could do. Decided to break the line so the fish could swim back down. That did not work, after the line broke the first was still hung up on the tree. Fortunately it gained enough line so it was in the water but still stuck. Both Sean and I were pitching jigs trying to hook the line so we could pull the fish free. Finally got it and the fish swam away strongly so hopefully its fine.
  21. It was two weeks ago since I was out there last, the temps were 42-43 degrees. I doubt it has changed much. Some of my club members are going out today, if I hear anything I will let you know.
  22. Basscats are very nice boats, and there service is excellent even if you buy the boat used privately. If you find one in good shape in your price range it will be a good purchase.
  23. The moderate action would be good for tremble hook baits, as for m or mh its a matter of what size baits you will be throwing on it. If its for smaller baits and you decide on a m/m reel selection will be important too. Some baitcasters are better at throwing lighter baits then others.
  24. what techniques are you planning to use it for?
  25. Didn't make it out this weekend but if all goes well will hit the canal on Wednesday. I have done pretty well there early in the year, not a lot of bites but some decent sizes. Can't wait for the tourney season to start. Curious at how the warmer than normal winter will affect the spawn, early spring fishing.
