  1. if you don't like it send it to me, I will gladly take it off your hands. Never had an issue with mine.
  2. There are more than two pairs, the 4 we saw were all up 10 mile creek side. I think its like 4 or 5 pairs. also been seeing them along the Upper Potomac, but haven't fished around Shepardstown since I lived up that way about 7-8 years ago.
  3. Sean, I know the first one was a good one, but the one landed was bigger. WV, if you ever get down to Black Hills keep an eye out, there are several nesting pairs there. Last Saturday when I was there we saw 4 bald eagles.
  4. No idea what you are talking about Sean..... The one you did land was bigger anyway. Kevin, don't let it get to you. If it was easy to get in every fish we hook it wouldn't be nearly as fun. Just keep in mind what you were doing at the time, what retrieve you were using and go hook into more big girls. Got my daughter this weekend, not sure if I will get out or not
  5. For a general purpose rod, I would go with a 7ft or longer, Medium Heavy Fast rod. This will provide you the best range of use for general purpose. As far as brand, go with what feels comfortable for you, if possible try to handle the rods prior to purchase. Preferably with the reel attached, different prefer different specifics to thier rods. What may feel great to me may feel horrible to you.
  6. In my club ties a broken by biggest fish. But left as a tie for 8th, the next position should have been 10th.
  7. That was great!!
  8. The feeling is your body running full throttle all the time. Not good for your heart. Much better to eat sensibly and do your workouts. Yeah the improvements will be slower, but everything worth having in life is work.
  9. As the saying goes, if you are not losing lures you are not fishing the right places. Will admit though I rarely throw tremble baits when I am fishing from shore. Not really a huge loss, as Basser89 will attest I am a finesse soft plastics guy anyway. Went out on Saturday with Hellbenderman, we decided to buck trend and go up 10 mile creek. Probably not the best choice, couldn't find anything up there. He ended up with 4, I only got one. They all came around main lake area, oddly from 3 completely different areas.
  10. It amazes me to see the number of people who will makes excuses to justify fishing places they know they should not be. The laws are the laws whether you agree with them or not. Behavior like this, leaving trash, and such are a big reason why more and more places become off limits. Fortunately the place the original poster is taking about is a park so he should be good. Hopefully he will be.
  11. They do work, at least from a boat, never tried one from shore. The difficult part would be to get a good angle, they are most effective in my experience from directly about where you are hung. Plans are to meet up with hellbenderman at BH tomorrow, not sure exactly what area we will be going. Its his boat so he is the boss.
  12. I am sure this weather is got everything confused, the next few days are warmer so the bite should pick up again. If all goes well will hit BH with one of my club guys this weekend.
  13. Another vote for 12lb Yozuri Hybrid. Would only do braid if fishing heavy weeds or wood a lot, why bother with leaders if you don't have to. Fluoro doesn't work for topwater so it wouldn't be a good all purpose line.
  14. To me it is legal as long as the fish was originally hooked thru legal fishing methods.
  15. As the head coach of a college sports team his job includes leading these young men. Actions such as this show a complete lack of leadership were it matters most. He knew it would get him fired, that is why he tried to cover it up.
  16. The reels should have their drags loosened all the way while sitting for that long.
  17. Starting the day in a tourney it depends on the place and weather whether I go for larger fish or not. If the place the tourney is being held is not known for large bags, or the weather has messed things up I will target getting 5 keepers in the boat. Other places you know going in it will take big weights to win so I fish accordingly. Tackle is the same between fun fishing and tourney time. The more time you use something the better you get at it.
  18. Easily fishing in wind, other things I can dress properly for an its no issue. But I have had some outstanding days fishing in the wind
  19. Lost track of the number of good size bass I have caught, or my partner has caught, setting the hook just because something felt "different". Some of my biggest bass have come on little taps some refer to as "bluegill bites". Whenever I hear my boater comment, they got a couple taps but didn't set the hook because they thought it was a bluegill I figure out where they had cast so I can hit that spot next.....
  20. Excellent point! One thing I see when fishing with a lot of guys when they throw these types of baits is a lack of line watching. After the cast they are looking around, talking with their partner or looking at scenery. Sometimes you don't feel the bite for whatever reason but a slight twitch in the line will tell you something is going on.
  21. Family, money and work schedules probably account for most of it. My fishing slowed way down when I was working the sports car races a few years ago. Spending 2-3 weekends every month at different racetracks doesn't leave much time for fishing.
  22. After reading the original post just have to laugh, not sure what is funnier though. The idea this guy expects that of the thousands of members on a public forum will all have the same opinion of his, that in a hobby known for its buying of gear (bait monkey) that people talk about buying new stuff frequently, or he leaves by throwing a childish rant. Its not helping that in the back of my mind I keep picturing Cartman saying "Screw you guys, I am going home".
  23. Things sometimes are not cheap, and fishing on a budget has restrictions. Why waste time and money when you have a great group of fellow fisherman here to help out?
  24. Spent a few summers as a corner worker and emergency vehicle worker for sports car races. Got rather interesting at time being that close to cars running at speed. Doing the EV thing I used my personal Nissan Titan to pull cars from gravel traps, fun part was they only put a caution on the turn the car was at. To get there I got to run the track while cars were still racing. Fun times.
