  1. Welcome!! There are a few of us in the area, i am about 10 minutes away from black hills. There is a lot of local info in the Marylands Who's Who thread in the Northeast section.
  2. Does anyone have info they are willing to share about the Northeast River in Maryland? I have a tourney there in early September and I know nothing about it.
  3. At this point, study... Between finishing up requirements to keep my PMP certification and finishing a college degree there is always something to study. Knowledge is something you can never have to much of.
  4. Go with 20lb flouro, after trying a few different ones abrasx has been performing great for me. I also have the Savvy 724c paired with a revo stx 7.1.....works great
  5. Missile Baits Drop Craw The Baby Rage Craw mentioned above either a 2/0 or a 3/0 will work.
  6. 1. Weight - depends on conditions I try to keep it as light as possible while still being able to work it properly 2. It is usually fished slow, the jig head is designed to be rocked back and forth in place. 3. Length of cast is something that depends on conditions 4. To me its year round. Just different locations.
  7. Easy and works great
  8. Do you have ethanol safe fuel lines installed? Or may just be dirty injectors, or fuel system....
  9. Ranger 520 for the win
  10. Welcome Colin, unfortunately I don't know anything about that lake either. But with the heat of summer, unless its first thing in the morning or around sunset I doubt they are bass feeding that you are seeing. Most likely panfish, see them all the time at Black Hills right at the surface in 40 feet of water. For the bass, try to find spots that have a drop off to deeper water, a dropoff with structure is perfect. I haven't heard anything about snakehead from there, if it is any moving bait will work. Spinnerbaits, and chatterbaits work. They are rather aggressive feeders. Nice bass BMBass, spinnerbaits is one of the techniques I need to get better at. I am more of a finesse person, I know what will surprise Basser89.....
  11. Would depend on the type of water you will be on, experience level, tow vehicle, budget... If you give some details the guys will be better able to help.
  12. Congrats! Its the ball and chain in a ring. What is your ring made of? Mine is tungsten so it is heavier than a normal ring.
  13. Yes its on the main feed into the house.
  14. Sorry to hear about all the things fried by lightening. One thing I had added when we had an electrician at our house was a whole house surge. Did not cost much at all for some added protection.
  15. 100% no, will only cause issues. Even if you trust everyone involved problems will arise. Not sure about you but don't need added issues.
  16. Nothing like a real senko, using parasite clips helps save a lot of baits. Also, mend-it glue allows you to repair baits. http://www.basspro.com/Parasite-Worm-Weight-Clips/product/93400/80930
  17. Big Pool has a gravel ramp, its not to bad unless the water is low. The only restriction is its electric motor only, not big enough for gas motors. It does have some bigger bass in it, just have to figure out where they are hiding.
  18. I use 65lb braid, just because of the heavy weeds I frog in on the lower potomac. Not that I get over upset about breaking off a fish but the last thing I want to do is leave a frog hooked into a fish. If they can't get it out, and a lot of times they are down deep, it is a death sentence for them.
  19. There is a pinned threat in the Fishing Tackle section which should provided all the information you are looking for and more.
  20. Beautiful!! Congrats on the new family member. My wife and I have two Italian Greyhounds, next week we pick up another IG as a foster. He is 1 year old and that is all we know. Not sure what he is going into rescue for. Having 3 makes for an interesting house.
  21. The problem with doing this with rods is everyone has a different opinion. What works and feels good for one angler will not work for others. It would turn out to be a listing of rods in the price ranges which is easy to find anyway.
  22. I have had great luck with Invisx on spinning gear, and Abrasx on casting.
  23. Just got back from my trip to Black Lake in upper New York. Had a great week of fishing, lots of good smallies and largemouth. Also had a couple bonus fish, a pike and a 12-13 bowfin. The bowfin was my first ever, ugly but amazing strong. Most fish were caught on jigs, thanks to Northstar and Rage Tail. I added a few pics below, my boater has the other will post more when he sends them to me. http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q532/bdog7198/Black%20Lake%202012/IMG_20120727_165650.jpg http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q532/bdog7198/Black%20Lake%202012/IMG_20120725_195508.jpg http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q532/bdog7198/Black%20Lake%202012/IMG_20120727_103526.jpg
  24. Good luck everyone, leaving in the morning for a week at Black Lake in NY. Can't wait to get fishing Saturday morning.
  25. Don't know of any real difference between them other than price, and whether they have a plastic insert. I try to avoid the inserts because they tend to fall out and with tungsten that means getting your line cut off.
