  1. Sorry to hear, had my first one a couple weeks ago, the pain cannot be described. Ended up getting surgery myself but not the laser. Post op check I am clean and no other stones so I should be good now, hopefully you get the same news when this mess is over.
  2. My club has boaters fishing against boaters, coanglers against coanglers. We are not competing against each other. Never had anyone purposefully "back boat" me, sometimes the pattern is not easy for a coangler but that is part of learning. Thinking of different angles or presentations when you don't have prime spots to cast to.
  3. At that water temp I doubt the fish are up that shallow. I would move out to the edge of the weed line or a dropoff into deep water close by.
  4. Not seeing anything in these post about catering to the boater. As a co-angler I do not have any concerns about any comments. Can someone explain the issue??
  5. I use it on my spinning rods and love it. No management issues and good strength. On my BC setups I use Abrasix instead for the additional abrasion resistance.
  6. Line visibility if finesse fishing in clearer water is an issue with straight braid. A lot of guys will use braid with a fluro leader. I prefer just straight fluro myself.
  7. Love mine also, bought one immediately after my first run in mid-30 degree temps. It is secure, no worries about it moving around or coming off.
  8. whenever I use this type of bait I use a 7ft 6in, heavy action fast time rod, 65lb braid and a 7.1 reel. Using a keel weighted hook will help with casting and getting the bait to run right. But when I do it is in heavy grass so you have to get them out of the cover fast as possible.
  9. So sleeping is not manly anymore? "man card" statements are about the dumbest thing going....
  10. Personally I would go with straight FC, a decent quality one like Invisx works great for spinning. The sensitivity on slack line is way better than braid. And since jigs, shaky heads, senko's and such have a lot of time spent on slack line the extra sensitivity in that condition is worth it.
  11. the size of this storm is amazing, i am just north of dc pretty far inland. some roads are closed due to high water and the storm is still 200 miles offshore. winds just starting to getting gusty.
  12. learn to adjust to what your boater does, you wont get prime cast angles so look for places your boater didnt hit. unless they are hitting a specific bait dont be afraid to try something a little different smaller or slower fall rate. talk to your boater before the tourney get an idea of what he will do and plan accordingly. ask about number of rods. dont take things that will stain if spilled, above respect the boater and his equipment
  13. Preach4bass, to answer your question i supervise 2 cyber security incident response teams for a federal agency. feeling better each day, thanks to sandy have an extra day off work.
  14. not to bad so far but our warnings are for 8-10 inches of rain with wind gust to 70mph. have to wait and see, the odd part is it is supposed to strengthen after it makes landfall. everything is closedso just relaxing and doing homework
  15. It wasn't overly large, just had ER trips two nights in a row. When they tested my white blood cell count was up and my kidney function was down 25% so they decided not to wait any longer. Unfortunately we did not capture the stone, not exactly sure how they missed it. The pain is insane, the second night I took 3 percocet and it didn't even take the edge off. At the hospital they gave me morphine, and some other happy drugs. Not sure if it helped the pain but I really didn't care at that point. Helpful hint, when the nurse says to lay down because she didn't want me to fall over, it hurt worse to lay down so I was leaning over the hospital bed, do it. A few seconds later the meds hint me and everything was spinning.
  16. This last week has not been very fun, had a kidney stone, woke up last sunday night in pain I cannot begin to describe. On Tuesday morning had surgery to get rid of it and put in a stent. The stent was removed on Friday. Still do not feel that good, walking or doing anything makes me feel like I got punched in the gut. Has anyone else had them, how long did it take for you to feel right again?
  17. I use them whenever I wacky rig, and yeah it does save baits. I can catch 10 or more fish on one bait. Some guys on here have some other methods, kind of a home method, of doing it which is supposed to be cheaper. They will probably post them, but I have good luck with the tool.
  18. I use Lookout on my Android phone, has never come into use as an AV but does some other things like backups, and locations services that have been useful.
  19. Sean...from now on, after that comment, you have to pick every spot.
  20. I don't think the level of stupidity has gone up, they just have more options in proving their stupidity.
  21. It is a preference thing, use what you feel comfortable with. Generally baitcast setups are using for heavier baits or were more power is needed. Spinning is used for lighter more finesse fishing. But there is no reason, other than something being to light for a baitcast reel, to put much worry into it. If its comfortable and works for you have fun.
  22. Welcome!!! Great to see another Maryland member, take a look at the Northeast section. There is a Marylands Who's Who thread with a bunch of information and a few fellow bass fisherman in your area.
  23. I am the exact opposite of this, I do not remember any of my dreams. I fall asleep, wake up however many hours later and have no memories of dreams in between. It is like falling asleep and waking up are just one event after the next.
  24. I fish a lot with a friend who has a 16ft aluminum boat with a jet motor. The river we take it on is very heavily weeded. Problem is the weeds keep getting sucked into the water intake so we have to stop and pull them out. Is there anything that can be done to reduce the number of times we have to clean weeds out?
  25. Yes the regular refs will make mistake, they are human it is expected. The biggest difference is they will actually know the rules and how to keep the game going. No waiting for them to figure out where to spot the ball, interpret rules, or marking off penalties from the wrong spot.
