  1. The Big Slackwater area above Dam 4 can be a decent place to fish. My PB came from up there, was 7.25 pounds. Just keep in mind there are a lot of pleasure boaters there and be careful not to run to far upstream as it shallows up again rather quickly. Sean can be more specific about how far up this happens, he knows it better than me.
  2. Here are the pictures from last night.
  3. Hit black hills again tonight, biggest 3 were 19.5 inches 4.8 pounds, 21 inches no weight on that one, and a 22 inch 6.28 pounds. Someone showed up after i caught the first one with a scale. Hopefully will get pics up tomorrow.
  4. Becareful with braid and rocks, they do not get along to well...a flouro leader would help.
  5. Motomast, thanks I apparently read right over that point. With a medium I wouldn't throw frogs at all or jigs over 1/4 oz.
  6. Congrats Bill, nice fish. A 21 inch largemouth will easily be 5 pounds. Dramer, Looking at the whole lake at once is to much to decipher. Take new bodies of water and break it down into sections, concentrate on the smaller section looking for the type of water to hold fish at that time.
  7. As your only rod I would go to a larger braid, 10 or 15 is not strong enough for frogs or jigs if you are fishing in heavy cover.
  8. Stopped by Black Hills this evening, good spinnerbait bite going on. Caught one 21 1/2 inch, then lost the spinnerbait. So got lazy and fished for awhile with soft plastics with no bites. Talked to Ken for a few minutes, after he left tied on another spinnerbait and proceeded to get a 21 inch then a 19 inch largemouth back to back.
  9. Initial guess would be a bad sensor somewhere, taking it to have it scanned, as previously advised, would be the best first step.
  10. If all goes well i will be hitting bh after work the next couple of evenings. With the temps the bite should really pick up
  11. As soon as the ice is off the water.
  12. A 28 inch largemouth would be a monster.....over 10 pounds.
  13. I have never had a knot issue with any of the FC lines I have tried, no luck at all with BPS or 100% Trilene. Went away from FC for about half a season before trying Invisx on a spinning reel. Loved it and switch all but one (topwater) to FC, switched all but two baitcast reels to Abrasx. Other two are braid.
  14. I agree with rockchalk, 40 is good unless you are fishing some extremely heavy cover.
  15. Yeah, sounds like an ebay scam. They will send you a link to what looks like an Ebay site but it is fake. Any information you enter is given straight to the bad guys. Do a nationwide search for the same boat, you will probably find listings for it all over the country.
  16. Using 40lb braid now, for a while used 17lb stiff mono. The comparison is night and day, with no stretch the braid pops the baits out of the grass so much better.
  17. I was in the same boat until I tried Invisx/Abrasx, treated with KVD L&L I have had zero issues. The biggest advantage I have seen is the slack line bite detection.
  18. I don't think so at all, just keep in mind you may not get completely honest answers. Especially if the guys are fishing a tournament. I would pay more attention to what they have tied on or watch their retrieve (moving bait, slow/fast bottom contact, jerkbait...)
  19. none that I have ever found
  20. Georgeeyew, big difference is the fish have no pain receptors. Actual for mine it really did not hurt until after the numbing agent they used before cutting the hook out wore off. But they gave me some happy pills which quickly took care of that.
  21. A few in the hands, but the worse was a 3/8oz chatterbait to the left side of my chin. Was completely buried so we couldn't get it out, a scalpel and 6 stitches later I was fixed again.
  22. And think about it, if you are a runner trying to break a tackle what provides more power to you, your head or your shoulder? The rule has nothing to do with running up the middle, or keeping their head up. Only leading with their head which is stupid way to run anyway.
  23. That ratio is a good all around ratio. Does good for all application. Are there advantages with higher or lower sometimes, yes but you do fine with it.
  24. They wear the HANS now, sadly it took to long and multiple deaths for it to be used. I was working SCCA club events as a corner worker when those club guys were using them while Nascar was not. Nascar has always been behind in safefty.
  25. BassinLou, I will say "the strings" not putting anymore more on here. I will PM you if that makes no sense... I had spasm's about 3-4 hours afterwards, doctor warned me it may happen though. They confirmed the stone was gone and both kidneys were clear so any pain was just spasm. Definitely another time I was thankful for pharmaceuticals....
