  1. I have a Chronarch 200E7, which is outstanding. No reason to be nervous at all.
  2. Hobie has the high price tag, but I do like the option of the pedals instead of having to always paddle.
  3. They work as long as the deer is standing in the road waiting for you, if they are off to the side and moving across the road its useless. And if they are spooked by something it doesn't matter if they hear it or not.
  4. I would stay away from the easily accessible areas, those areas get pounded all the time. Once you go into the park and go by the office take the first left if stay to that area. Find a lot and walk down to the lake, look for places with some shallow wood which will not be to difficult. I haven't been there from shore yet this year so not sure exactly where is good so far. If I would be going I would probably go to the first lot after you take the left (you go from driving thru trees to it opening up to where pavilions are, go down the hill).
  5. Welcome Scoob13, don't worry we won't hold being from Pittsburgh against you....to much There a few guys on here in the Germantown area, I live in Germantown myself. Black Hills will be the most talked about place in the area. Can be good fishing and some big fish. Can also humble you pretty quick though. There is also Cunningham Falls just north of Frederick. I am sure others will chime in some of the places they have luck from shore.
  6. I am looking to head out for awhile either Saturday or Sunday. Any one heading out? Not sure where or when yet but if anyone wants to meet up let me know
  7. In Maryland....its Deep Creek Lake. Can't fish it during the summer.
  8. Would absolutely love one.....not being able to swim is a sticking point though.... When I learn and get a kayak it will be a Hobie
  9. Ha ha....thanks for the reminder. Had not even thought about this yet. Just checked the date, May 11th. This just happens to be my last day of college, guess I am getting her a degree.... All kidding aside, now that you reminded me I will figure out something.
  10. 1. That is up to the tourney director, personally I have not seen this be an issue before. Just be prepared to have your livewells checked before the tourney starts 2. Are you sure they are weighing in out of the water, most tourney's just use the weigh bags to carry your fish to where the scales are. 3. Odds are you can leave it in the water, and take your fish from there. The caveat to my answers are these are from my experience, no one on here can give you a definite answer like the tourney director can. I suggest giving them a call to be sure.
  11. I don't get keeping the plastic on, the rods are tools to catch fish. I pay good money for rods, I want them to perform at their best, having the plastic will make them slippery and not feel right. That is a no no, and especially not for something which is an easy clean up.
  12. Nice fat musky Bill!!! If all goes well I will get out next saturday, my club will be at Lake Anna so looks like I will be shore bound. Will figure out later in the week where to go. Not worried about big fish, just a nice relaxing day and catch a couple.
  13. Never had an issue with TW, even when my wife ordered xmas presents for me knowing nothing about fishing they walked her thru everything. I had orders where one bag of plastics is on backorder, they sent me the order of what they had then sent the single bag of plastics when available all for no shipping cost.
  14. Bought another horse, this gives a 3. At this point we have a stallion which my wife rides in reigning shows and two mares. Never was around horses much until I met my wife. Not sure what the horse equivalent of the bait monkey but whatever it is it possesses an immense power.
  15. Well that seems pretty clear, looks like a DX745 it will be. Now to finish my college degree, this will be a present to myself for finally finishing. Being 42 years old and doing homework is no fun. Will keep an eye out for good sales though, may have to cheat on timing for the right sale. Thanks for the input!
  16. Looking at getting a Dobyns rod for jigs, mainly 3/8 to 3/4oz. Looking at a 734 or 735 just not sure if the Extreme is worth the extra money. For this application sensitivity is the main point, balance is second. At this point it will be paired with a Chronarch 200E7. Anyone with experience with both willing to share their thoughts?
  17. Take a look at used, you can get a couple year old boat in great shape for the same money. This will equate to a larger boat which helps especially if you will be fishing any bigger water where it could get rough. Otherwise, make sure to check HP ratings, make sure the boat is either at max power or very close. An underpowered boat will make you regret things extremely quick. Make sure to put into your budget cost for add on items such as decent electronics, trolling motor, and all the safety equipment. If going used make sure to check the trailer also. I am sure others will chime in with their thoughts, this is my initial 2 cents.
  18. I am the same as Alpha Male, offset straight shank hooks unless its a really thick bait then I will use an EWG.
  19. Hard to pick between these two. First was on a Potomac River tourney, wind picked up against the tide and it got rough pretty quick. Was cruising back to ramp for weigh in going wave to wave and everything was fine. Then hit a wave which didn't seem different then the rest but it kicked the front of the boat up. Boat stood up on the transom, when it caught the next wave it slammed back down, which did not feel very good. But got better when weighin was done and we won with a 5lb 10oz kicker. Second, was at a lake in upper NY. Again it got very windy and had about 4ft waves, was in a 19ft Ranger. Ended up spearing two waves, was completely soaked and electronics were knocked off mounts.
  20. Seems like pretty good distance to me on that light of a bait, you say your rod is 6'9", is it a M or MH?
  21. Drop shot the finesse worm...
  22. Check out the Maryland Who's Who thread, a lot of guys fish Black Hills. Some good information listed there. Welcome to the forums.
  23. I was there last saturday, temps ranged from 46-48 degrees. Water clarity was a little cloudy, had a couple feet of visibility similiar to most of last year. With the snow Tuesday and a day of rain on saturday it may change.
  24. BassinLou, thanks for this. I have the same pains. Been trying to get some exercise and down 33 pounds from me peak weight but need to do some strengthening.
  25. I agree with the above, but would have to add I have switched almost all my setups to Invisx except my topwater and Abrasx on baitcast.
