  1. Yes, Black Hills. It is a good lake, had a great day there about a week and a half ago. But its definitely on a down cycle. When the club did tourneys there in its peak there were 20lb bags pulled. One tourney had 3 over 20lb. Now you can still do well but not 20lbs. My great day mentioned above between two of us we had 40-50 fish in the boat, with best 5 for each of us around 17-18lbs. Get to end of summer and fall and the weights caught drop to low teens....
  2. fishing is not worth dying over
  3. Which bay off of the potomac?
  4. Not a fan of bass as table fare, there are better fish to eat out there. Will usually go for crappie, yellow perch or walleye if I am looking for a fish fry. Keeping your legal fish is no issue though if you like them. A lot of fisheries can use some of the smaller legal fish removed. Some may act like its a mortal crime to keep any bass but they are just way overboard on catch/release.
  5. Would be custom and unnecessary overkill
  6. Jon boats are a pain to paddle, try to go against any wind and be prepared for a big workout. Why not get a trolling motor to help get around?
  7. Story popped up on my facebook this morning, person paid with 2 rolls of dimes. Clerk did not check because he was busy, person had rolled pennies instead.... If I was a clerk no way I would accept payment if I could not physically count it. No way to tell what is rolled up in there.
  8. Have done week long trips at Cobboseeconttee at the Lakeside lodge. It was outstanding, fishing was great for largemouth and smallmouth. Easy access from room/cabin to docks. Plenty of food and such close.
  9. Almost went to bh but no partner and did not to feel like dealing with boat and fishing alone....so today became yardwork day. Have to figure the bite has to heat up there soon if it's not already
  10. Is not just kids, a lot of adults will kill the snake just because they saw it. Makes no sense for an harmless animal to die for no reason other than someone's irrational fear.
  11. Local lake has been stocked every year with 3000 musky (9 inch fingerlings in a 500 acre lake). Bass fishing could not have been better. A lot of musky were caught out and died in other ways but there were legit 50+ inch tiger musky in there. Then a virus hit the stocking population and none were stocked for a few years. Could not find a musky left and bass fishing declined. During this time someone also self stocked yellow perch which are everywhere now. The lake is still a good lake but definitely down from what it used to be, fisherman need to make some adjustments too.
  12. Depending on rain the salt wedge can get into DC, a couple years ago redfish were caught at Wilson bridge. The stripers can be found all over, they are just as happy in fresh water as salt water. The ducer was no biggee, did not hit anything other than some rather large waves. The impact broke the piece that attaches it to the boat, the ducer itself is fine. Got some jb weld to put it back together and transducer saves to keep it from happening again.
  13. I had my boat out around the spoils on Saturday, found grass where we expected to but not very far along. Think it will be okay but just like everything else its behind. Was a ton of fun (sarcasm) getting back up to Gravely at the end of the day, between the wind and tour boats it was a mess. Only damage though was breaking off my transom mounted transducer...
  14. It never really clears up until the grass gets up. Couple days of calm weather will get rid of the wind/rain added stain but it's not a clear water river.
  15. Just had my skin check at the dermatologist office yesterday. All clear report fortunately. My boss was not so lucky had a cancerous area removed from his back. Take care of yourself everyone
  16. Hard to get any confidence in them, look lost against Carolina then play well the next game.
  17. Depends on the style of fishing, shallow the poles are better
  18. Mama mares and the two foals for this year
  19. Waiting until the sun gets up and warms a little then off to Black Hills, I wonder what is going on there. With the holiday weekend its a solo trip so should be interesting to say the least
  20. It will survive without issue, caught numerous fish that were blind in one eye and they were healthy
  21. Shakeyhead with finesse or trick worm
  22. My trip is done, but yeah found a good number of fish on the bridges. Most of the good ones were on the tip rap, especially the better spots. For largemouth better ones were on main river humps.
  23. Did not take to many pictures, none worth sharing. Found some fish each day, nothing huge. Most came on main river humps or rip rap along the bridges. Weather was up and down, from shorts when we got there, tornado warning sirens, to 34 degree mornings and wind almost all week. Ended up towing home thru 2 hours of snow on saturday morning.
