I bought a Tatula TATC6101MXB and it would do very well with shaky heads and wacky jigs. It is rated M/XF and would make a great finesse caster. I have not been able to test it out yet but I'll use it for finesse and small cranks.
I keep a file in my boat. Haven't used it in 10 years. I just grab another and re-tie these days. Actually, there are some hooks I'll sharpen and there are some I won't. I don't sharpen my Gamakatsu worm hooks. If I roll those points, I toss 'em. Mustad Ultra's I will sharpen.
I think you worded it just fine. It just got pulled down a different road as lots of threads tend to and once the first person takes it there others usually follow.
For me it's pretty simple....if it's spotty or just not happening, move on to something else and maybe try it again later if conditions change. I love to pitch heavy cover but I'll get off of it if I'm not getting bit.
My #1 smallie crank is purple back/silver sides w/purple & silver glitter made by Marty Burns. I hate purple on anything but fishing lures!
cracked me up!
I've always stuck with Rapala Rattlin' Raps and Lewis Rat L Traps the most. I've got some one knocker Rapala Clackin' Raps I haven't tried yet but I figure I'll like them too.
