Never fished florida.. Any help would be appreciated....Thanks for any help, I do have a boat but would probably plan on flying and taking some gear..A guided trip or renting a bass boat would be nice. I thought about el salto but am a little nervous about taking my 16 yr old to that area.
  2. I have had 2 guys tell me that all the oil is pretty much the same thing and i will be fine running yamalube in my merc...They tell me that merc just wants you to buy their oil and yamaha the same thing...Can anyone out there please enlighten me on the true facts???????
  4. do you ever fill the whole chamber with epoxy???
  5. Do any of you ever drill out the rattles in your crankbaits??? I would like to try but dont know the best way....where do you drill hole??? How big of hole?? do you remove rattles??? do you fill in with silicone or does some other product work better??? Does it effect how the bait swims??? Does it make them run more shallow or deeper?? Have you had success with more subtle rattlleless crankbaits??? any help or input would be appreciated
  6. dont forget to look for stained water, which will warm up faster...this time of year water temp is everything...
  7. Great posts and articles...Thank You
  8. I would like to become a better deep water crankbait fisherman...I know there are alot of secrets the pros will use to fish these..(for example filing the bills, using lighter line, longer casts, longer softer rods, etc..I also hear about these guys making their cranks more smooth and subtle.....If you have any advice or make alterations to your crankbaits i would love to hear about what works for you............
  9. Hi guys i am looking for some type of soft tackle type bag with felt or foam pages where you could actually dig your hooks into and store jerk baits or cranks right next to each other, similar to what fly fisherman would use for flys......Does anybody have any suggestions or know of any web sites, or do these even exist......It would be great for storing cranks or jerk baits right next to each other without rattling and dulling hooks........ :-/
  10. Another question i have is why shad school up and travel, and what times of the year would be best to use a vertical type presentation for the bass feeding on the shad, and where are the best areas to look for this? thanks.
  11. Thanks matt for taking the time to type this up.... So is it safe to say that most baitfish will spawn roughly around the same time as bass? I know that it is a good idea to match the size of the hatch generally throughout the season, so is there some sort of an idea on how fast a shad will grow throughout the season? and will shad die yearly if water temp drops below 45, and if not what will be the average size of the threadfin shad...thanks
  12. I am trying to learn from rick clunns advice to study the mouse and not so much the owl...I would like to open this topic to any advice that anybody has about all the bait fish and critters that bass will feed on. some of the questions i have are; 1. bait fish spawning times, there growth rates and how it effects bass.(shad, bluegill, perch, trout, kokanee etc..) 2. what colors work best for these bait fish 3. what about carp minnows, will bass search out and feed on them... Im sure i am missing alot, including crustacions and insects, So any advice or other good questions from everybody would be appreciated....If you know alot about one topic than please elaborate......
  13. Hi fellas, I am going to fish a tourney this weekend. last year there were 30 boats and only 6 actually caught limits of 12" or bigger bass...there are bigger bass in the lake but a lot of little ones..i could use some advice on how to find the bigger bass. im thinking bigger baits less bites, and deeper, but any other info will be helpful. the lake is a rocky shoal lake powell type lake only not as deep. water temps are 65 plus, and im guessing fish are in post spawn to early summer pattern. all the fish are smallmouth...thanks for any help
  14. Hi fellas, I need some advise on how to buff out scratches on my new ranger...I always here people say that it will buff out, but how do you actually do it...Thanks for any info .
  15. k FELLAS, i WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW IF ANY OF YOU FINESSE FISH WITH BAITCASTERS....SINCE I HAVE LEARNED TO USE BAITCASTERS, THE CONTROL AND ESPECIALLY THE FEEL OF THEM I HAVE A HARD TIME GOING BACK TO A SPINNING ROD...I LOVE TO FISH WITH JIGS WITH A BAITCASTER, AND WANT THE SAME FEEL FOR FINESSE (ESPECIALLY OF HOW YOU CAN USE YOUR FINGER ON THE LINE AT ALL TIMES TO SENSE A BITE) ...BUT WHEN I TRY ANYTHING LIGHT WITH A BAITCASTER I JUST HAVE PROBLEMS...IS THERE BAITCASTERS OUT THERE THAT WILL WORK FOR FINESSE OR AM I JUST BEING REDICULOUS AND NEED TO STICK WITH SPINNING ROD.
