I usually throw them in a cupholder in my boat in case I run out and need a spare one or two one day. However since I'm a tackle junkie and have way too much of everything it never fails that when I'm cleaning out the boat I look in the cup holder and say whoa these things are really rusted. Then I chunk them.

I think a neutral rating would of been better, but you appear to at least acknowledge that as a strong possiblilty. I'll take the W and you never know how things are going to sort out, but I think we are heading for BCS trouble. Ugly win over OU gets us no style points and with Bradford out they might have more than 3 losses once this things over. OSU has already lost and with Bryant out who knows if they can finish with only 2 losses Baylor lost their QB so they aren't as tough as everyone thought they were going to be either. Besides those games we have two should be gimmies UCF and TAMU and two semi-tough games in Mizzou and Kansas. Then the Big 12 championship game. Add it all up and I don't know if thats a difficult enough schedule to be #2. Seems like all the BCS guys predict UT to open at 4 behind a one loss VT school and that a one loss Alabama(to florida) team would be ahead of UT in the final polls. Even if, and I realize it's a big if at this point, we win out I think we are going to be crying at the end of the year.

Exactly my point. Our parents brought us up to know right from wrong. I'm sure by this crazy ZERO TOLERANCE rule we both did things on multiple occasions that would warrant a friggin 45 day suspension. How would you feel if it was you. We've only been out of school 11 and 12 years. The world hasn't changed that much. I would be totally on board with this if the kid had his knife to someones eye threating to stab it out. However, it sounds like the kid sat down at lunch and started eating his grilled chicken and vegatables with it when a teacher noticed it. Thats an honest mistake. Give him a warning and explain the parents if anything similar happens again it will be addressed as the child bringing a weapon to school. The article says in the same district kids have been suspened for a grandmother sending a knife to school with a cake for a birthday and someone using a boxcutter to cut windows out of a cardboard building that was a school project. All 3 cases complete crap if theres not more to the story which there doesn't appear to be.

No offense, but if that is your logic shouldn't your parents have thought harder about carrying guns and bows to school. I'm not certain that I would of said no son you can't bring your swiss army knife to school. I'm only 30 and certain that when I was in school the country crowd would bring pocket knives to school, the ones where the knife is inside your pocket, but it clips to the outside of the pocket. So it was OBVIOUS that had a little tiny knife in their pocket, but I never once thought about going down to the principles office and saying OMG what are we going to do. I'm not saying that someone shouldn't of but thats clearly worse than a 6 year old with a spoon/fork/knife and that was ok at my school. Tough to blame the parents imo.

I'm sure there has, but in this case the knife was discovered b/c he was threating someone. I also firmly believe that the study referenced in the article is accurate when it says that racism typically occurs if you leave the rules open to interpretation. But again a little common sense goes a long way. Either fire the racist teachers or better yet add a line to the rule that says if a student is caught violating the rule in a non-violent/threating manner that a ONE time warining will be issued. This way when a kid brings a butter knife to school to cut a cake or a 3" swiss army knife to eat his cereal with they aren't suspended.
