  1. I kid. I kid. I got her a NorthFace jacket and some lotions and a gift card to Coach to buy her own bag.
  2. I'm on their website right now. It says the Eden Pure Gen4 1000 is $397 with free shipping.
  3. I would probably get some Ugly Stik spinning rod that way i can keep fishing after you guys break yours. Especially if I need it to last a while.
  4. I use a Dobyns 704MH with an Abu Revo Sx 7.1:1 I practically sleep with this setup.
  5. One thing I hate more than bad weather is bad weathermen. Earlier this summer I left work early to fish into the evening. The forecast was calling for overcast skies with possible showers. Perfect!! I spend an hour gettin the boat ready and driving to the pond. I launch the boat and make two casts and boooooom!!! flash!!! Thunderstorms moved in. I pull the boat and go home.

  8. Most companies use different resins in the leaders for abrasion and knot strength and leader material is stronger over shorter lengths.
  9. Go on Yamaha's website to see if you can download the manual from there. If not go to or call your nearest Yamaha parts dealer.
  10. You're not only sending a Chinese made reel back for repair, you are sending back a cheaply made Chinese reel back for repair using American labor.
  11. This rod is on my Christmas wish list and I'm pretty sure it's goin to come true.
  12. I'm not trying to read into anything here but I get the feeling there is small percentage of people here that really want to hate any rods Abu puts out.
  13. Good topic! Get 6-7 rods ready the night before and hook boat to car. Wake up 4am Stop at store for drinks/snacks Get to lake 5am Pull rods out and start fishing by 5:20 Throw crankbait for 6-8hours ;D Get off lake by noon Rinse repeat the next weekend
  14. So my wife,my son and I went to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania and on the way we drove by a Gander Mountain and had to stop in. I have never been to one. After strolling through their fishing department I come across their in house rods. I must say I was very impressed. All the rods were under $150 and all had Fuji Alconite guides on them. If anyone is interested in a sub-$150 rod, I would definitely check these out.
  15. Come to Massachusetts. A 5lb might as well be a world record.
  16. I have the 4/0 worm hook and I'm totally indifferent towards them. I don't really see them working any better than an Owner or Gami for half the price.
  17. Hey don't feel bad. Today I was skunked for the first time at my "home pond" in a long time. The air temp was 86 by 8am and the water temp was just north of 80 degrees. The water was ultra calm and started the morning fishing a sammy and wake-baits slow. I then tried trick worms and wacky rigged senkos as sun peaked over the horizon. Then moved to jigs, cranks and even tried the drop-shotting. My day consisted of 2 perch.
  18. There are plenty of rods to choose from so I won't comment on that, but as for the reel the Shimano Stradic CI4 will be as good as you can get for spinning.
  19. I like throwing shakey heads mostly in rocky/gravely area for smallies.
  20. I use mine for topwater. I throw alot of spook/walk the dog lures with it.
  21. Up in the northeast here it seems Smelly Jelly and Bioedge seem to have a good amount of popularity.
  22. Most of the time it involves whacking my shins while launching or retrieving my boat.
  23. You did the right thing by just leaving. We all have bad moments on the water where you feel like a bit of your manhood has been stripped. There is nothing worse then feeling inferior. With that being said, just think of all the good times you have fishing. I don't think anyone here can't say that 99% of their fishing time has been peaceful and fun. Most of my 1% stress comes from boat ramp shenanigans. The tournament guys here know this too because they are guilty of this. If you are at lake/pond and their tournament is over and you want to pull your boat out, forget it! They will cut you in line to make sure their "crew" gets out first. You have to spend an extra 20-30minutes on the water or face the possibility of 20 aggressive men. It's usually my only gripe of water etiquette.
  24. Totally agree with you. I don't think I'll ever buy a standard bass boat. I live to close to saltwater to limit myself to a freshwater boat. If I ever join a bass club I'll be "that guy" with the deep-v. How can you not feel safe in this?...and it's d**n sexy too 8-)
  25. I didn't realize the gallons in Michigan are bigger!!! Mind=blown
