  1. I just purchases a Garmin Echo 550C for the bow of my boat. I also have a Minn Kota Power drive V2 that slides along the housing. If anyone has the same trolling motor, how did you secure the cable when the motor slides such a long way? I can put a wire tie right at the base of the trolling motor and right at the head but I use everything in between to slide it which would leave a huge amount of slack in the cable.
  2. I watch bass tourneys on tv just to listen to the "grunts" they make I'm always amused that it takes such a loud grunt to set the hook in a 2lb fish
  3. Just got mine. 1/0 EWG worm and a decal
  4. I leave lures tied on. I occasionally get some rust around the hook keeper but it doesn't bother me. The only thing I take off is any plastics/jig trailers.
  5. If you're a Humminbird guy, then try a 586C. I currently own a Garmin Echo 550C for the bow of my boat on a RAM mount. I just bought it a few weeks ago and have yet to use it for fishing. It does have a great picture though.
  6. If this is your first trailerable boat, practice backing up with it till you feel comfortable. Back up how you want. Don't let people tell you that you have to use mirrors only. I bring a pair of cheap waders with me all the time in case there is a need to get in the water. I don't like being wet from the chest down when fishing even in warm weather. Keep a checklist in the boat for launching and pulling until it becomes second nature.
  7. I live in a questionable neighborhood but I do leave them in the locker. The only thing on my side is the fact that the people in my neighborhood don't understand the value of good fishing gear. Sometimes when I'm getting tackle ready for the next outing I see this...
  8. I have the exact same trolling motor with 48" shaft and it cost $450 back in 2007 and it cost about $550 now. So if you paid $350 for an almost new one I'd say you got a very good deal but not a steal.
  9. My boat has a rod locker but zero storage for tackle. I figured I need something quality that I will use for years. I purchased a Plano FTO Hydro-Flo Elite 4848. I can honestly say this is an awesome bag and worth every penny to me. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product__10151_-1_10051_10210364_999043014_100000000_999043012?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductads&om_mmc=shopping_googleproductads&affcode_c=17kw2359705&SST=3b80a8a6-3380-fc49-3b78-0000127e1b36
  10. I catch most of my fish when I put my rod down to do something else in the boat and the lure is still in the water. Last year I caught 2 fish on a buzz bait that sunk to the bottom. I was getting a little too close to some over hangin branches and put my rod down. When I started reeling again I had a fish. Happens all the time with jigs too.
  11. Coming from building offshore rods, Im still used to using larger wraps It is a Pac Bay Minima seat and flag decal is a pre-made decal. It says 'Assembled in the USA' underneath the flag since it's tough to get a 100% made in the USA parts.
  12. The boat in my sig is a 16ft Princecraft with a Merc 30hp. The boat and motor weigh in around 850lbs and over 1100 with me and gear. My boat gets up on plane slow and tops out around 19-21mph. I couldn't imagine a 9.9. My buddy has PolarKraft Outfitter with a Power Pole and $2K Humminbird and decided to put a 9.9 ETEC. If he could he would easily trade in the Power Pole and expensive fishfinder for a bigger motor after one season of fishing.
  13. This is a MHX MB782 I'm goin to use for light wormin. It is spiral wrapped with American Tackle Virtue titanium guides. I tried to pick colors a little different to match my boat. Boat is red/silver/gold/white.
  14. Rapala DT's love em love em I like to dig my cranks hard and these haven't let me down in terms of wear.
  15. Just some 4stroke oil, lower unit oil, filter and some lures to the tune of $124
  16. I towed my 1500lb boat in my sig for 2 years with a 4cyl Subaru Forester rated to 2400lb. I never had one issue including stopping and did a few trips of 300 miles+ round trip through elevated altitudes. I buy vehicles capable to tow what I own and not going to a get a bigger vehicle and sacrifice daily driving. I now own a Mazda CX9 with the tow package which is rated at a conservative 3500lbs
  17. Yo-zuri pins minnow will always be a favorite.
  18. They seem to use a modified minima skeleton seat. The top part of the seat seems a little short and maybe there isn't enough bite there.
  19. Mono(2x/year) Floro(1x/year) Braid(every other year) I am also an avid saltwater fisherman so changing line can get pretty annoying after doing 18-25 reels.
  20. Eagle Claw pair works pretty good.
  21. I use the Lew's. Until it lets me down, I see no reason to spend more money. For $99 it has been solid.
  22. I use The Rod Glove which is basically the same.
  23. Three excellent choices for under $100 I don't own the Fenwick but it's one good looking rod.
  24. I love new technology. I'm just not sold on it yet. It seems side imaging is awesome but not worth the money for me yet only fishing once a week. Down imaging still seems a little clunky and varies depending on depth.
