  1. I was backing my boat down and it slid off the trailer but forgot to tie off my rope. Bye Bye boat. I panicked and forgot to put my truck in park and it went in and got a foot of water in the back seats. Luckily there was no damage to the car after it dried out. After standing there for 15 minutes the stiff 3mph wind blew my boat back to the ramp.
  2. My in-laws live in Shrewsbury and I travel up there with my boat 1-2x a year. I always fish Lake Chauncy and love it and sometimes A-1 site in a canoe. Next weekend I'm going up to fish two days and I'm going to fish Chauncy one day and need a lake/pond for the second. What are your thoughts on fishing Indian lake or Flint Pond? I could go to Whitehall but I think it will require more time to learn in 6-8 hours I have per day.
  3. Tube baits. Every week I go fishing I tell myself 'this is the week' but it's never the week.
  4. Needle nose lure hound retriever braid scissors Sig Sauer 40cal
  5. Yeah I never give fish in freshwater but I'll always give fish from the saltwater if there is a family around.
  6. Lucky Craft are the only hard baits I'll spend $15-$20 on. I'll be honest when the top water bite is on, I rarely take the sammy off. Maybe for a buzzbait. I love me some RC 1.5's
  7. I use the 5.4:1 Speed Spool for cranking and it's been trouble free so far.
  8. I just ended up tying it high and low and left a little slack so I can turn the motor 180 sometimes. I am getting a little interference but only when I'm NOT under power. As soon as I get under power no matter how slow the interference goes away. I'm hoping next year that I can get a motor with universal sonar. I checked Minn-Kota's website and it seems they are not compatible with the Garmin 550C yet but since I'm in no rush I didn't bother to verify it 100%.
  9. At my tackle shop, we have customers who regularly buy Van Staal reels $800 with $400 surf rods to the tune of $1200/set up and some of these guys have 2-6 set ups.
  10. Here is my evolution of bass fishing: Age 12-24: Throw black plastic worm and catch fish all day without a care Age 25-35: Throw thousands of dollars worth of lures, paying attention to wind, barometric pressure, water temp and every other variable and doubt my ability Age 35-37: Throw wacky rigged Senko and catch fish all day without a care. I spent too much time over-thinking everything and stopped enjoying myself for a long time.
  11. I won't go out if the wind is projected to be near 20mph. I hate nothing more than fighting my trolling motor all day. That will all change when Minn Kota decides to make the I-pilot compatible with foot pedals. I will go out in sub-40 degree weather. Bass Pro 100mph gore-tex takes care of that.
  12. I just hope to catch some fish.
  13. I will buy anything that I think will give the most enjoyment for the money. The only things I don't put too much value on is very expensive electronics 1K+ and very expensive swim baits $40+
  14. The Fuji palm support reel seat only comes in size 20 which would be huge on a typical bass blank. You can try using a Fuji IPSSD which actually allows you to remove the trigger. Or you can just reverse a typical DPSSD seat
  15. While I respectfully disagree, we are all essentially guests here and should follow the rules. Most companies seem to respond faster when a negative review /experience is thrown in front of hundreds of eyes. The only time I ever left a seething review of a company was on Google and nearly got an instant response after being told to 'get bent' just a week earlier. The power of forums and search engines teach companies they can not hide anymore.
  16. That does look good and slanted would have been the icing on the cake.
  17. Look up Quaker Lane Tackle in North Kingston and ask for Steve McKenna. He is as good as it gets for surfcasting RI. If you are feeling a bit 'spendy' come see me at CMS Tackle in New Bedford Mass and I'll hook you up with a Century surf rod and a Stella 10000 for $1100
  18. Pflueger Supreme XT and Stradic CI4 are the only spinning reels I need
  19. I was quite a Lucky Craft fanboy just getting into bass fishing and now I rarely ever spend more than $10 for any single lure. I would rather put that money over to better electronics.
  20. I was on Cook Pond in Fall River Sunday. The water temp at 7am was 47 and warmed up to 50.2 in some spots by 10am. I only caught two small fish in three hours. First fish on a slow moving spinnerbait. There was no fight. Just over 1lb Second fish had more spunk but had to drop my jig right on its head to get it to bite. 1.75lbs
  21. I wear a Columbia Watertight jacket for summer rain...I think it was $59. They also make $40 rain paints. Columbia Thunderstorm.
  22. Before I pop off the head. is the groove supposed to be on the outside or is it actually a channel on the inside of the shaft? The shaft is smooth all the way around on the outside.
  23. I will have to take a look at that option tomorrow.
  24. As I'm looking up and pondering buying a Minn Kota PDv2 with the Universal Sonar so I don't have to run a transducer cable, I start to read reviews of my trolling motor on Bass Pro. Two people left reviews about only being able to fasten the transducer cable to only the top and bottom of motor. I guess that answers my original post. Until I can afford a motor with universal sonar I'll be stuck with a floppy wire.
