  1. I can see buying on ebay when there is a good deal but it seems that most ebay stores sell for suggested retail or close to it. I just checked Simmons and most of his auctions are suggested retail. Add in the $8.00 ground shipping for a reel plus paypal fees and it adds up. For someone on the east coast, tackle warehouse with its $5 2nd day air seems to be a better value.
  2. Netbait shakey worm or Roboworm with a Picasso shakey head
  3. I sleep with my Revo SX and Stradic CI4 every night. I have the break set about half way and adjust the tension knob depending on the weight I'm throwing. I have yet to have a major backlash and by no means am I a good baitcaster.
  4. Falcon makes some good rods but buy the best St. Croix you can afford and you won't be sorry. tap...tap...tap...waiting on a certain moderator to chime in
  5. I hate these threads. BRB omw to Bass Pro to buy some shallow cranks.
  6. I know what you mean! A local tackle shop was goin out of business and the owner had Lucky Craft Sammies for under $10 so I bought 4 and when I got home I realized I had 3 of the same colors. Expensive mistake.
  7. Hollow body frogs for me.
  8. I just wanted to let you guys know that both my local walmarts are selling Abu Garcia Revo S for $74. I'm guessing this may be local or extend further out. I picked up two of them. I guess it's worth a shot to check for those interested.
  9. Hey fishing rhino...considering I'm your neighbor(New Bedford) what kind of boat did you get?
  10. The problem for me is I'm always trying to find the magical lure. I seem to follow the hottest trends too. There's been a lot of talk on the website about fat ikas lately so I went out and bought 3 bags. The sad thing is when I go out fishing I end up using 5-10 lures and stare at the other $1000 in lures and ask myself why I own all that.
  11. I have about 10 swimmers between 15-30 bucks and have the most luck with these. Reaction Innovations Revolution shad is quite good too and only $16.
  12. Glass rods have a soft feel and if you held a glass rod with the same exact tip and butt size as a graphite and same weight class the glass rod will be whippier. I believe the softer pulsating action of glass allows the crankbait to work itself. The tip on the glass rod will bounce around letting you know the bait is doing it's job. If you pick up one blade of grass the tip will stop bouncing telling you the lure is not working at it's maximum output.
  13. I touched on this in another thread. Lamiglas makes some underrated rods. Their style of blanks tend to be more naturally moderate than the action states. If they say the action is fast, expect a moderate/fast blank. It's one of the reasons I like Lami's for all types of cranking. Even if the rod isn't a cranking rod it'll probably still do the job well. Check out the Lamiglas Excel XL705 Glass or the XL703C for lighter cranks. Good luck on your choice all the rods these guys recommend are pretty d**n good.
  14. I am one of those guys that do the opposite then most on here. I believe that a very good rod can be bought in the 80-150 range but spend more on the reel. I think I own one of every rod in that price range including 3 Vendettas which I really like in the casting models. The reel seat is a little heavy but holds the reel very tight. I have them paired with RevoS, RevoSX and a Revo Winch
  15. I've never backed down any type of trailer in my life till I got my boat. I installed my hitch and drove 100miles each way to get my boat. When I got home , I drove to a big empty parking lot and practiced backing up for an hour. If you dive into this confident you'll learn faster than you think. I won't lie to you though but I still avoid really high traffic boat ramps during the summer weekends when I'm alone. :-[
  16. Zoom lizards 10" Berkley power worms
  17. I bought some samples from an Eagle Claw rep and they look good. They are supposed to drop in price after they get some feedback. Owner/Gami has won my money nothing wrong with splurging now and then.
  18. I've had an Endura for a long time now and literally beat the heck out of it on a flat back canoe. I use a Walmart battery. You should have no problems with that choice.
  19. I just picked up the 2500CI4 last week and it is very light. Make sure you pick up a light rod to go with it to appreciate it's lack of weight.
  20. I know Lamiglas kinda flies under the radar but people don't know that most Lamiglas blanks that are classified as fast action actually have a more moderate action than comparable blanks. It's kind of their signature. I don't have a dedicated crank rod yet but all my saltwater fishing is done with Lami's and I always think to my self how good of a crank rod some of light saltwater blanks would make. Don't sleep on these. http://www.***.com/Lamiglas_Certified_Pro_Fiberglass_Casting_Rod/descpage-LCPROFG.html
  21. Fishing shaky heads is my favorite type of fishing and Roboworms are the first bait outta the box.
  22. Launching a boat alone can be quite stressing sometimes. I have a 16ft deep v and there are ribs on the bottom of the boat that have literally 1inch of play on the bunks. One 5mile gust of wind will knock me off when I decide to drive on. So I've taken the wader approach and hop in the water and guide the boat on. I use guide-ons but still have little room for error.
  23. I've been to some hard hit areas and some of the boat ramps are completely submerged. I did see a few boats on the water though. I wont be fishing until things calm down a bit.
  24. Starting using shakey heads last year...I must say I'm hooked
  25. I know some of us can only fish once a week while some of us fish more but when you officially get out there how long is your day? I average about 8 hours. Usually 5:30am to 1-2pm. almost forgot..."till the fish stop biting" is not allowed
