  1. I forgot how to fish the daredevil(smaller ones)....I used to use as a kid all the time.....Planning on buying a few and take them out on the river again this year.Although I got a feeling the pikes are gonna like this one too much. I still fish inline spinners though.Same with grubs....I used them last year and just caught the heck out of them.
  2. While I'm sure you guys can land the fish on a fast tip rod,I'm not saying I can't either. What I am saying is that a moderate action rod works better for "ME" because my landing percentage is higher than compared to a medium rod with a fast tip. I could just switch over to a Medium light and do just fine.....BUT I choose not to. Read this: http://www.bassresource.com/fishing/rod-actions-power.html Then look at the moderate-slow which is the last part of the article. Since I have changed over to a moderate rod I've seen improvement on my part. Inline spinner is a treble hook lure.
  3. Isn't that what a moderate action rod does? Bends at the midsection?
  4. Different folks for different strokes.....doesn't work for me.....I find me losing more fish with a fast tip rod than anything else specially when it comes to inline spinners.A buddy who fishes with me says the same thing and he's fished for over 50 years.
  5. I locked my keys in my very first car the second day I had it. Took my dad 3-5 second to unlock it with his jimmy.Since that day I ALWAY carry a spare key in my wallet(Since I never leave anywhere without it.). I've only had to use my spare keys twice in 18 years.Boy I was glad I had it though!
  6. i disagree....if inline has trebles,it should be thrown on something with a moderate or slow tip. Fast tips will usually rip the treble hook out or the fish can throw it much more easily. I use those cheap Walmart rods for inlines that has a slow tip.
  7. Wind is the reason why I didn't get out Sunday(anything over 15mph wind gust). I also won't go out in Storms or any temps below 40. The heat never bothers me......I could be fishing in 100 degrees weather and I'm good.Just stay hydrated is the key.
  8. WHOA!!!!! I have to admit this thing had some fight in it. I thought they stayed around 3-4"?
  9. I don't stock enough hooks in inventory since i pretty much deplete my inventory by the end of the year. So if I wanted to try a new pack of something I can and if they don't work as well as they claim,I just rebuy my owner's hooks that I 90% of the time use. Same can be said for everything else.
  10. Fat Albert Grub rigged on split shot 6"-12" up the line or just Texas rig it weightless with no weight. You can rig em' pretty much however you want to be honest. My color is anything watermelon slowly crawl it on the bottom or slowly reel it in. Grubs have been around for a long, long, long time...but it seems like very few people use them anymore. I got my buddy who hates using soft plastics to love the grub....Really couldn't believe how effective something so simple really is. My new technique I'm learning this is is the jika rig this year.Unfortunately We have a bass season so I got to wait Till the end of April to try it out.
  11. Applies to me too....However unless I have to be somewhere else by a certain time. I'm careful as well about locations though...I've had 2 good spots completely ruined by opening my mouth.
  12. Could a new technique negatively affect you? Yes AND No.....because you will be learning to put another technique into fishing what you already know. You also have to know when the place and time to use that lure over another one. I've had days where trying to learn a new technique only to go home empty handed....My go to lures were never pulled out that day. So yeah,I probably screwed myself in catching a few fish that day. But now I have added another weapon to my fishing. Fat Ikas are great lures, but they aren't magic.....My magic lure was the Grub last year,it out performed every single thing in my tackle box last year.
  13. YUP! Thanks guys, That smile does say it all...LOL
  14. I don't entirely agree with you. jbdaiwafan is just saying it's the angler not the equipment that catches fish. I don't see it as he is mocking the guys who can afford all those fancy equipment. I'll take the knowledge over gear any day of the week. I've always said, buy what you can afford and have fun with it. EXACTLY!
  15. My kid's Easter gift from mom and dad. 1/2 Boxer/1/2 Retriever.
  16. Buying the best with what you can afford same applies for me. I usually spend $100-$150 on a rod,$150 for baitcasters and anywhere from $75-$150 on spinning reels...so my limit is usually $150. Could I spend more? Probably, but there's so many great options in that price range that I rarely find anything junk(lucky I haven't). Somebody mentioned Investment,I don't tournament fish.....but I'm pretty sure I'd be spending money on a therapist because I probably would have gone insane from boredom. Sanity is my investment....lol
  17. I caught a Goby today fishing for crappies on hair jigs. It was pushing 6-7 inches. Anybody know what the biggest recorded Goby is? Wish I took a picture of this thing......
  18. A Jay during the winter.
  19. LOL @ Title of this thread...... Even if someone hates this board, there's still a wealth of knowledge around here to just read that we all can benefit from.
  20. I hear the word crappie all the time to the point I accidentally started saying it now too.
  21. This has to be the funniest and best thread yet....we owe it all to stiller.
  22. Once a month I get somebody who's butt calls the house phone and I hear the entire conversation......Happens quite a bit...LOL
  23. I can't believe I'm giving away this answer...but yes.....I got red, blue, black and green nail polish for painting the lips of the crankbaits. Guys that see me throwing them always ask me where I'm finding them....I won't tell them...LOL.That Idea came to me after seeing somebody on TV throwing a Bluegill crankbait, but had a blue lip on it as well. After realizing they don't sell them on the market I had to figure out how to do it. I think Spike it sells them also....I have a blue one from them a few years ago. Not sure if they still have them yet. I just found that nail polish works just as well if not better. It Doesn't come off too easy either...you gotta really bang it up.
