  1. Anybody know or recommend a brand? I need them badly because i seriously suck at kayak paddling. Short story of what happened: Me and my buddy got the pelican pulse 100X angler kayak. He went first while i watched. while watching i notice he was going side to side and he paddled. Made me a bit nervous actually. After about 5 minutes of watching him I figured I'll give mine a try. No problems getting in....after pushing myself off the kayak seemed extremely unstable.I'm sure this is due to my inexperience. I figure I'll stay close to shore in 1-2 feet of water and try to get the feel for it. I never could! Next thing I know my buddy tries to turn and flips. At this point I had enough after I saw this. Would kayak stabilizers help us or are we just wasting our time? My buddy is a bit older, but knows how to swim. Me I'm younger than he is,but I have no swimming experience. I've looked on Ebay and found some that would work, but before i do anything i wanna get your opinions. Would I just be throwing more money into it for nothing or would this help us a lot? I've watched other people kayak and they make it look so easy.
  2. Good question. I have no idea....LOL I'm not really strictly for Bass fishing. I do a lot of other fishing also. Primarily I do fish for bass when I'm allowed to up here. But I call myself a smallmouth fisherman mostly what I target. I don't complain when I catch largemouth bass. I got a river here that holds a good amount of both of them together. I fish for walleye for food and pikes when I wanna have some fun. A few times a year I go after the bluegills.
  3. Anybody know how to make these? I need a recipe. The one I have didn't hold up in taste. I used to eat this all the time when my MOM made it...unfortunately my mom doesn't remember how to make these anymore when I asked for the recipe on how to make them. me and my mom were the only ones who liked them,My brothers and my dad hated it...lol. So she just stopped making them. So if anybody in here has a recipe they don't mind sharing,I would love to have it. I really miss these and want to start making these again. The 2 I got online didn't work out too well either. I hope it's not just me messing it up,I'm usually a pretty good cook.
  4. The coils we do are automobile parts. They get sent to stamping companies where the part will be formed. We have also done steel for Canadian's roll mint(Yes it's Money),but not very often that we do them. Not the safest job to do. My buddy on day shift got his head cut open when a piece of steel fell through yesterday. Not sure why we don't wear hard hats, but we will be now real soon. It's hard labor work compare to what they show in the video, the video doesn't show all the work involved. It just shows the machine running.
  5. No thanks....I stay away from vicious lines.
  6. Kinda what I do. I work the 72" Braner slitter. we slit coils down to width.
  7. His show is not for me. Plain and simple. I'm not gonna bad mouth the guy,I really don't know him too well. From what I have seen on TV he is loud.Show business you gotta keep things entertaining,he does seem to try and do that. It's a different crowd he is targeting through television. kinda seemed aimed more toward the classy fishermen.
  8. Yup Lucky to say the least! They are in our plant at work and they are ripping out all kind of drywall, wooden flooring and occasionally Day shift will find trash cans tipped over and garbage scattered all over the plant. They also hide up in the beams and crane railings. We got traps set up all over the plant trying to catch them. I rarely ever leave my windows up unattended. If I do it's barely cracked open in the summer. However I have cats go up under my car and into my engine and tore some wires out. costs me 75$ every time they do it.
  9. I recommend finding somebody local from the board too who could help and teach you some new tricks.
  10. Forget all about the equipment and lures. Figure out first where the fish are and why they are there. My guess you may not be fishing where the fish are. There's been days when i shore fish I skunk out from time to time.Perhaps they were deeper and deeper water can be hard to reach from shore.
  11. I have found since I keep my line semi tight now,I don't reel in and set the hook anymore. Soon as I feel that bite or heaviness I set it right there and then. I rarely miss a fish on the hookset now. Dropping the rod and reeling in slack before setting the hook has gotten me nothing but frustrated I miss the fish. They can spit the lure out pretty dang fast. What I do now pretty much clears any errors on my part.
  12. Me personally wait till you get time to raise a fingerling. From dogs to snakes to lizards,I've never had any good experience with older pets that I acquired or met.I had an older iguana that was just plain mean. I don't know what the previous owners did to it. Spiders are another story for me,which I don't know anything about. I would think it would be best to raise something when it was little in this area. I'm not the biggest fan of spiders,i don't hate em'....but I don't like em' either...lol
  13. This scares the holy crap out of me.....The fact I just brought a kayak this year and I can't even swim. I'm surprise it didn't flip! The guy handled the situation much, much better than I would have. It does beg the question how a boat can even hit a kayak like that. Pure stupidity! I don't care how old those guys were in the boat. I'm in agreement they shouldn't be in or driving a boat anymore after a stupid thing like that. Sorry, but your in a motorize boat, hitting something that just still in the water. Hell it could have been a kid in a inner tube just out in the water having fun....Seriously,I don't know how anybody could even see this situation differently.
  14. 3/0-4/0 for t-rig,1/0 octopus circle hook for wacky.
  15. I make a killer taco salad.
  16. These look good.I'm surprise I never heard of these. I'm a big fan of using tube baits.
  17. Not when I'm broke...It kinda cures impulse buying....lol. I do stock up on baits I'm running low once in awhile. But then again,I just brought a kayak.......yeah,not really an impulse buy but something i really wanted. I really wanted to get off shore, mission accomplished. I guess this was a plan of mine for awhile now.
  18. Thanks for sharing! That is one heck of a touching poem!
  19. Yup same line. Yo zuri hybrid US 6# test, I'm using maybe 1/4oz weight at the most. Nothing heavier than 3/8 here.
  20. Funny,I had the same dang problem last week. One slipped today on a rock bass. Got frustrated and ended up using a uni knot the rest of the day. I don't have problems with P-line CXX in 6# test using palomar knot. I think I'm gonna learn this San Diego jam knot. See what happens next time I go out.
  21. Lake fork, simply because I never been there. I did Lake Erie a few times, only once by boat and caught my PB smallmouth there. I'd like to caught a couple LM over 5-10#.....it's kinda hard to do here.
  22. Show me a largemouth that can clear 2 feet out of the water on a single jump. Smallmouths are just hard, hard fighters, what they lack in size(meaning they don't get as big as LM do) they make up for it in pure brute and power.
  23. I was on fire today,You should do well Mike! You picked the perfect time to come up here if you ask me.

    Sad

Does that include bass? I thought Certain fish was off limit. If it's legal, then it's legal by all means nothing anybody can do about it. I don't have a problem with it on the most part specially if it's legal. But I was pretty sure bass spear fishing here is Illegal. If it's Illegal it's wrong....period. Because he mentioned Lake Austin which IS in U.S. I know tons of people who keep walleyes on inland lakes during it's off season...I won't hesitate to report them. I love eating walleyes, but I still gotta follow the laws too.
  25. Sufix 832 braid sinks....That's what i use and can be found pretty much everywhere. I would get the 30lb test.It has the diameter of 8lb mono. There's been bad reviews on Vanish line since it came out. I find it hard to understand why they still stock and sell the stuff. Since you mentioned you are using a 5/16 jig you shouldn't have any problems on a Medium rod. While i don't like to use braid in rocks,it can be done.Few small rocks ain't gonna hurt it. Also IMPORTANT! Make sure you leave a little bit of mono on your spool before you put braid on there. Braid will slip on the spool making you think your reel is broken and the brakes on it aren't working..
