Alright this summer Im making myself try new things...ive been working on jigs and its been productive so its time to start something else too....ive heard dropshotting a lot. Ive saw it some on tv... Can someone explain the rig and how to fish it so I can get all my facts straight?
IMO those are the best bags for the money. The big one is like $40 and it comes with 8 3700 boxes with plenty of pockets....me and a guy i know have them.
I bet you anything it was the gar that was hitting. We were gettin some hard hits a couple weeks ago catfishin that we thought were cats....all ended up bein gar...i brought 2 in and about a month1/2 ago I caught 2 more that we thought were cats.
Right now Im using Stren 14lb mono. That is only because its on my only baitcaster as of now thats pullin duty for everything over 1/4oz. lol. When I get a rod/reel combo for just flippin/pitchin im thinkin about 30lb braid.
I have a 12ft vbottom. First I took out all of the seats and replaced them with 1x8s. I just recently took out the 1x8s and used aluminum stud to frame out decks on the front and back.
Dont forget you have to have a special welder to weld aluminum...
I took the seats out of my jonboat but they didnt look exaclty like yours. We just busted the rivets and put silicone on it then riveted it back.
How were you rigging the bluegill? What kind of hooks?
I usually use octopus or circle hooks...cant remember the size. We hook bluegill through the tail or lips. A lot of times when we are missing a lot of fish we just let them swallow it. Lately we have been missing a lot of fish and they ended up being gar.
I dont have one in my boat(jonboat) but If i did i wouldnt use it very much. I fish spots that looks like fish would hang out...if I dont get a bite Ill move to the next good looking spot. If I do use a fish finder its just to see if there's a drop off or point.
When we gar fish we usually rig up a slip sinker with a bead about 1' above the hook. We use minnows/creek chubs and fish bottom. When we catch one we just pull it on the bank or net it then kill it.
I use my spinning gear for throwing light stuff like weightless worms and small spinners n crankbaits. When Im flippin or pitchin I got to a baitcaster. If im throwing anything heavier than 1/4oz im throwin it with my baitcaster...
Just get one and throw it...you WILL get backlashes...you WILL have trouble with it...at first. Eventually you will get a lot better and it becomes second nature.
The boat I mentioned didnt go through...it wouldnt plane out when he took it out. We will be doing both team tournys and then single person tournys. Between the both of us we have probably everything that you can think of tacklewise. I know by the time he gets a boat knowing him it will atleast have a working livewell and good trolling motor.
A friend of mine is buying a boat soon(possibly tonight). He has been lookin at a 18' with a 150HP on the back. We are wanting to start fishin in some small tournys around here and we know where there are a few at and a couple people who fish in them. What all will we need to get started in tourny fishing?
You're missin out not fishin finess worms...try them out.
Ive been throwin a jig A LOT and have actually been catchin fish lol. Im goin to go buy a bunch of eakins jigs(buddy of mine reccomended them). I fished with one of his today and really liked it.
I texas rig them and throw them around wood/weeds/rocks...pretty much everywere you can cast you could catch a fish with them. Hop/drag it on the bottom...
