  1. Cool idea and nice protection, but man thats pretty high dollar.
  2. I'm gonna go with Sufix 832 yellow. Since I'm new to bass I want to try out Sufix for braid and Seaguar for Flouro/Mono. I've ran power pro braid in the past FOR CRAPPIE but just because it was cheap lol.
  3. I have a small lake by my house I used to fish a lot. Probably 3-4 acres. I always targeted crappie and bluegill here because that is what I was into at the time. However, I've caught decent bass there crappie fishing with jigs etc. Now that I'm switching gears, I think it will be time to give the pond some more of my time in a different direction. As others have said, I think it would take a few trips before you can really form an honest opinion about a spot. Mine for example was over populated with crappie, so the average size was pretty small. BUTTTTTTTT to this day my PB came out of that lake right at dark one night during spawn. I didnt even realize my bobber was down, we were picking up stuff in the little 2 man boat we were in lol. Attached is definitely my PB bass I mentioned in the 1st paragraph, no clue on weight.
  4. I forgot that tournament is this weekend. I'll stay Truman side for sure. It is just LOZ side correct? My camper is really close to long shoal so I imagine I'll explore that area starting off. Thanks for the info!
  5. That is awesome. That's what it's all about. Keeping the sport alive for the next generation!
  6. Hey all, Brand new to bass fishing. Truman is my home lake. I know where to find the crappie, but pretty lost on bass. Looking for lake specific tips. Also, I'd be up for fishing with anyone from time to time. I have a boat or can come in yours. Going to give it a shot this weekend and see what I can make happen. Also open to LOZ, its right next door.
  7. Noobie here. That sucks man, but thank you for posting this. There's a lot of good replies newer people like me can learn from. I didn't realize how detrimental grabbing the line could be.
  8. I've decided I will buy two rods to add to what I already have. A MH-Fast and a M-Moderate. Texas Rig and cranking rod. I went to my place at the lake and forgot I had bought (4) 6'6'' MH-Fast rods last year for trolling. They have Abu Revo4 baitcasters on them. They are identical, see below. What I'm looking for is; what # and type of line should I spool each rod, and what should I use each rod for starting off? I'm hoping I can use one of the casting rods for top water? Or should they all basically be single hook bottom rods? Casting Rods: - BassPro GSS66MHT 6'6" MH-Fast w/ Abu Revo - BassPro GSS66MHT 6'6" MH-Fast w/ Abu Revo - BassPro GSS66MHT 6'6" MH-Fast w/ Abu Revo - BassPro GSS66MHT 6'6" MH-Fast w/ Abu Revo Spinning Rods: 7'1" M-Fast St Croix Mojo Bass w/ Abu Revo X 2500 or 3000 7'3" ML-Fast Fox River w/ Piscifun Carbon X 3000
  9. Hey all. Just joined today. Looking at getting started in the world of bass fishing. Been primarily a crappie fisherman the last 15-20 years. Looking to learn and expand. Really enjoying and appreciate all the good info on this site and helpful members.
  10. I'm open to buying a rod for either setup. Probably aiming for which I'll get the most opportunity to use the most, to start off. Sorry I should have included that, I do have a boat. If going Medium-Moderate w/ 12# mono - what types of lures/rigs would you suggest I mainly focus on?
  11. Hey all. I hate to make this post since there is so much good information on this website and youtube etc. But I'm a bit overwelmed, and I overthink things as it is. I've been primarily a crappie fisherman the last 20 or so years. I'm looking to get into Bass this year, and unfortunately I don't know anything about it. I can't even cast a baitcaster yet. But I'm gonna learn this year. I have a lot of spinning reels already. Mostly 2500 shimanos or pfluegers. Bass Spinning Rods: ML Spinning Rod ~7ft - Brand new not setup yet, bought last year & haven't used it much M Spinning Rod ~7ft - Brand new not setup yet, bought last year & haven't used it at all * Looking to add first baitcaster. Given my spinning setups I already have, I want a MH but can't decide if I want to go Fast or Moderate for my first one. I'd like to spool it with Flouro or Braid and leave it alone. I know the rods can do a lot of different techniques, but I don't want to be respooling line all the time. I imagine if I need to, I will just add another rod eventually to spool the alternate line and leave it dedicated to that setup. Not sure 100% which techniques go with fast vs moderate etc. Looking to make the purchase to get the most use out of it while it is the only baitcaster I have at first. Thanks in advance, sorry this ended up being a lot to read lol. TLDR: MH Baitcaser; should I go Fast or Moderate for first/only baitcaster starting off? I will spool it with either braid or mono and leave it alone and learn those techniques associated with that line type. I guess I'm asking, which will I get the best/most use out of initially this spring/summer.
