  • About Me
Bass fishing came to life in me at 11 years young. My grandfather took me to a crystal clear creek near Rogersville Alabama. He told me to stay low and watch. I saw the biggest fish of my life just sitting near a log. I watched as he threw his Hula Popper just past it.. it turned and bang it was on! It was the greatest thing I had ever seen. In the 80’s and 90’s I fished in my local club in Florence Alabama. I even fished a Pro-Am during the FLW days. Then work, family and life happened. I got a promotion and had to move away. Kids, sports and school took my funds. I sold everything to provide for my family. In 2012 a on the job injury broke my neck and back and was 2cm from taking my life. I retired at 54 years old and had 6 surgeries. I began bank fishing again in the lakes and ponds near my house. A friend invited me to fish in the local club as a non-boater. That lasted two tournaments and I bought a boat. The world of fishing I knew was gone!

  1. I fish any warm days over 40 degrees. I do map studies and lake break downs. Sometimes I just go out and graph lakes. With the water low I like to take pictures with my gps turned on. This allows me to place that picture on my map. I can see how far out the lay down comes out or the big rock I would normally miss. I also re-line my reels, check my hooks and replace the bad ones. Beats driving the wife crazy.
  2. I live 2 hours due north of Gville and 1.5 from Nickajack. This next eeek should get that water just right. Highs in the mid to upper 60’s and 6-8 days in a row. I’m close to Watts Bar and Chick, two weeks ago they warmed up upper 40’s low 50’s and it was on like donkey Kong. A-Rigg, Red Craw Crankbaits, Red Craw Rattle Traps. Man it so close now I expect to see buttercups blooming any day now.
  3. I took a promotion back in 2002 or so and sold off my gear because of how I traveled for work. Then 4 years ago I came back to fish. My soul how much has changed. We had flashers and the first 2D down scans were just coming out. Little fish symbols to boot. I came back to FFS and Whacky Worms and Ned Rigs! Totally lost so I stayed to old school methods but I learned 2-3 new baits a year. I’ve had FFS now for my first full year, I must say it takes practice and an accurate throw. After throwing a Ned Rig for a time I refuse to throw it. I made a rig like it but weedless and I use the same TRD’s
  4. Great Video ! I really like the Bass Resource YouTube channel. After not fishing for so long and coming back it’s a whole new world.
  5. Hello Everyone, my name is James I’m from Florence, Alabama originally but now live in Fairfield Glade TN. I love bass fishing and have done so since I was 10. My grandfather showed me how to fish, my father backed him up, my step dad helped put the icing on the cake. FFG has 11 lakes plus I’m 30 mins from Watts Bar, 45 mins from Chick, 1 1/2 hours from Nickajack and 2 hours from Guntersville. So I’m surrounded by some of the best lakes in the world. My PB Largemouth came off Wilson Lake in Florence Ala. back in 2002 at 10.75 lbs. my PB Largemouth in FFG came off St George Lake at 7 lbs 2 oz. (Photo below) I belong to the FFG Bass Club where I am the Tournament Director. I also fish in the FFG Wildcat Gang, we fish the big lakes near by. We are excited to kick off both clubs in March and I’m already fish getting ready.
