  1. The older tpe knobs are so hard to find now... And they don't sell them separately any more.. I've had to purchase spinning reel setups just to get the colour knobs I liked..
  2. Gomexus... Daiwa shaft bigger than Shimanos...
  3. This was from black Friday sale from a local tackle shop.. 50% off Keitech... I normally do a bulk buy each memorial day sale at tackle warehouse for my 4.8 swing fat impacts but with the current state of the Canadian dollar, won't be saving as much as previous years after shipping and customs charges..
  4. My core 101 was the 1st high end baitcaster I ever bought... The newer Shimanos cast much better and have better braking systems now... Outside dial brakes was such a game changer to allow you to adjust brakes on the fly if wind picks up... It's still in my rotation due to sentimental values though and will probably be the one reel I'll never sell off..
  5. My off season haul.. 2020 metanium hg.. 2024 vanford 3000..nrx plus 852s..shimano expride b 7'2 mhg and 6'10m...
  6. The 883c is my least favourite nrx plus (893c,894c,895c,873c,904c,872s,852s are the others I have)... I love throwing jackhammers and 1/2 Oz with trailer seems to over load it... It's now my spinnerbait rod... I have both versions of exprides 7'2 MH glass that I think is the perfect bladed jig rod... I'll even use my megabass P5 javelin for chatterbaits instead of the 883c now.. B4 I got it, I tried searching online for any feedback on it only to realize its not an nrx that many would recommend or rave about..
  7. Just picked up a Shimano expride b 6'10 medium... Haven't had chance to test it out until our water unfreezes... Was using a dobyns champion 705cb in the past and didn't think it was parabolic enough for jerkbaits...
  8. Fit and finish on nrx can be hit or miss.. For a high end rod, their craftsmanship and attention to detail is far behind megabass and shimano... But fish with one on your hand and you see why they are the gold standard that every manufacturer is measured against...
  9. I'm from Canada so sales period may differ from the USA... But it's around April... And black Friday... Sign up on mustang website ava they will notify you when they have their sales..
  10. Nrx plus 904c MBR...4.8 Keitech swing fat impact is what I usually have tied on this rod...
  11. Toronto... I mainly fish Kawartha Lakes, Muskoka and south Frontenac..
  12. I have the nrx plus version.. It's my go to 1/2 Oz jig or t rigs rod... The tip is too stiff to use as a frog or swimbait... I think it's perfectly suited for bottom contact...
  13. Yes.. Same mustang.. Well made quality... 100% waterproof... I've fished hours in pouring rain and it kept me bone dry... It's my 1st season with them so will have to see how well it will last over time... They go on sale in the spring and fall so wait until then to get 30% off msrp...
  14. Hello from up north... I'm primarily a kayak bass angler from Canada... 2022 Oldtown Autopilot 120... I generally prefer only to chase largemouth bass... I'm also a gear and tackle junkie.. Long time lurker on these forums..
  15. Nrx plus 904c mbr... Dark sleeper, sleeper craw and gill I'll throw on this rod too...
  16. I stick to shimano only... My 1st high end reel was a stradic aero 2500..its still in perfect working condition 30 yrs later so I've never felt the need to switch brands over the years...
  17. My current 2025 reel lineup... All Shimanos.. Core 101, Conquest 101, metanium 13s, all variations of newest generation metaniuims and bantams, stradic fl and 24 vanford 3000s for spinning...
  18. Mustang Callan bibs and jacket... If it's colder, I'll layer up underneath in the spring and fall...
  19. I use the rear rod holder.. Out of my way and easy to reach when I need it..
  20. I fish out of a kayak also and prefer to use longer rods... If I could only bring 5 nrx plus with me: 872s for drop shot or finesse baits 894c for 1/2 Oz jig 904c for 4.8 Keitech swing fat impact or noisy flapper frog 893c 1/4 to 3/8 trig soft plastics 883c for spinnerbait/bladed jig If I could bring a few more: 852s for weightless senko 895c for punching duties 873c for any baits I'll be dragging along the bottom like a football jig or 8 to 10" worm
  21. I use mine for spinnerbaits now.. Much prefer my expride 7'2 MH glass for chatterbaits...
  22. Shimano expride 7'2 MH glass is the best bladed jig rod I own.. I have both A and B versions... Just the action of that rod is just perfect for chatterbaits... I also have a megabass P5 javelin and nrx plus 883c which have both had chatterbaits tied on, but I prefer both of those rods for spinnerbaits.. Tip is just to fast for my liking..
  23. Shimano core 101..it was the 1st high end baitcaster I ever bought...
  24. Sunline fx2 for baitcaster.. Or Sx1 for spinning..
