Man the helix 9 MSI is also cheaper than the 93sv. You kinda just changed my entire mind. May need to go humminbird route. By the time I ever decide to go to something like livescope I’m sure humminbird will have remotely caught up to Garmin

d**n that’s pretty insane. So if I’m not going livescope route, humminbird should definitely be considered it seems. Is it much more expensive?

Appreciate the info. Seems to be the consensus will be going on an oldtown pdl 120. So will be mounting on the handle right next to seat. I’m 28 so eye sight is still strong (for now) so I think I’d be fine with either the 73 or 93 but may as well go big as you said. My next question is, I can pick up a UHD 93sv with GT54 for $700 on Facebook. Is it worth it to spend the extra $500 for the newest iteration (UHD2 93 sv with GT56?)

Looking to finally upgrade from my garmin 4cv to either an Echomap UHD2 73sv or 93sv. my question is, is the 93sv overkill on the kayak? Is it worth the price tag? I see a few 73sv’s with transducer on marketplace around the $700 mark whereas the 93sv I’m having trouble finding used. I’m not opposed to spending the $1200 to pick it up brand new if it’s really worth it. Is the big screen too much for an oldtown 120 pdl? I’m not planning to add livescope now but maybe in a year or two Thanks in advance for any help

The Metanium dc 71 is the best casting reel I’ve ever had and by far. Like not even close. It’s insane. Picked up both of them for $250 each off marketplace and using some points at ALF for one of them

That’s the problem… have literally no reason or want for getting rid of them aside from the fact that even having 8 rods with me on the yak feels cumbersome and I was hoping to limit down my lineup (I car top my pdl yak and getting 8+ rods to the lake safely is a PIA). However I absolutely love both these rods but if there were 2 that I were to get rid of, it would probably be those 2 since the 843/bandersnatch can cover most of the dark sleepers duties and the 852 is pretty similar to the 872 minus the distance/I also have a Steez 7’6 MML “the one” that can sling a paddle tail which is what I mainly use the 872 for. But “the one”’is mainly for my light surf fishing here on NJ beaches It’s a blessing to have been able to put it together man. They’re all amazing rods and love each and every one totally get that. I picked up most of them around the $330-350 mark so at that price, 3 years warranty is cool with me

Interesting I hadn’t considered this model. Actually saw one available at a decent price. Assuming it just has a deeper bend to it? Really if the rod can handle dt-8 and up I’ll be very happy. The 18” handle on the 906 from my kayak sounds like it would be a problem

looking to pick up one of these 2 rods. Any experience/opinions on each? Looking for something to handle mainly mid cranks with the occasional deep diver like a tactical DD, DT 16, or deep X 300. Will the 845 be able to handle these or is the 906 necessary?

Hey - circling back to this. Can the 843c handle the same bottom contact techniques as the 853? Obviously probably not as perfect for it, but def doable? Specifically 1/4oz t rigs with craws and finesse jigs (the specific ones you mentioned)

Yeah the X bites is intriguing for sure. I wouldn’t be buying jdm just bc to me I can get P5’s from US brand new for about $380 which is similarly priced to the jdm after shipping costs. Can also get an 893 for $400 right now but I prefer the 85” rods usually out of my yak so just a bit torn. This rod really would just be always sitting with a 3/16-5/16 bullet weight at all times. Have my other bases covered

I’ve heard the xbites can feel mushy at times. I’m usually throwing 1/4oz tungsten + 4” craw like rage craw, xzone adrenaline craw, or 3.5” dolive beaver
