Tridelphia on Sunday, 6am - 12 noon trying to beat the heat. Was actually comfortable with light cloud cover till around 10:30/11:00. Surprised by all the surface fish activity but no takers on my top water selections. Started the day with an unexpected catch, 13inch crappie on a deep diver. Caught a couple 15-16 bass on some jigs and missed a few as well. The highlight of the trip was a 18 inch bass on a zoom lizard, my new PB on this lake.
Always have a 8" zoom lizard rigged on MH baitcaster with 12lb invisx every trip spring, summer and fall...........Green pumpkin or black with tail dipped in chartreuse. Seems to catch better quality bass whereas my brush hog set up catches quantity.
My normal boat fishing set up is - 8 rods: 6 baitcasters (5 MH-mod fast to XF and 1 H-F) and 2 spinning set ups MLXF and MXF. But the majority of the time I am T-rigging with a 7'MH-F BC and when it is slow I fish a 6'-10"MLXF spinning setup for wacky worms (avoid the skunk) and I always bring those two when bank fishing. So 2 would work for me.
I had a decent day on Wednesday at Piney Run, fished 7:30 - 12:00, boated 6 fish, 18 incher, 2 16 inchers, 15 incher, 13 incher and a 10 incher. The majority caught off points on a t-rigged 8" zoom lizard.
Wacky rod - 6'10" LTB ML Fast spinning rod, T-rigged senko I use a 6'-8"Bass-X M Xfast baitcaster and for all other T-rigs various MH Fast baitcasters 7'.
Spinning reels on ML and M rods - 6lb and 8b Tatsu for wacky and dropshots
Baitcasters on M and MH fast action rods - T-rigged plastics 12lb and 15lb Invisx
Baitcaster on MH MF for crankbaits, spinnerbaits and topwater 14lb Suffix advanced mono
Baitcaster on H F frog rod 50lb Suffix 832 braid
No leaders on any just straight line
I always have a 8" Zoom lizard rigged on the boat usually green pumpkin with a bit of chartreuse marker/dye on the tail and usually this rig produces the larger bass, but not always. My zoom baby brush hog is a close second.
I generally have 8 rods on the boat but these I use 90% of the time:
