  1. All the above, plus I'm looking for that magic bullet. I have not found the magic yet.
  2. I'm hoping to be in WI in June. I hope to get out for a day. I'll be visiting family. If this thread keeps going, I'd like to see some options. I'll be in Green Bay area.
  3. I like the 7" Senkos. I've caught some big bass on them. I usually start with 7" and only go smaller when not getting bit so I'll drop down to 6"
  4. I love nature, it's part of my career, don't get me wrong, but sometimes we substitute nature for the longing in our soul to be more spiritual, to be more God like. We see it in your desire to serve others. Serving others is a worthy God-like attribute. So, think about a career change, one that gives you time to serve. Look at your local job placement services, is there something you can do to make a lateral move? You cannot serve when you can't take care of you and your family, but you can serve when your basic needs are met and you have a desire to help. Most jobs are filled through referrals now. Make a list of who you know that could offer advice or know of openings. Good luck. (I've helped people learn how to look for jobs so I have some resources.) let me know if I can help.
  5. Invisx with some type of line conditioner/treatment.
  6. As has been mentioned, the right retrieve dates way back. My first reel was an ambassaduer 5000. I've been reeling right handed for about 50 years. I cast right, and then switch the rod to my left hand. I can switch in mid cast many times (on long casts). I didn't own a spinning reel until my mid 20s. I learned to reel that left handed. So, now, bait casters reel right; spinning reels, left. But a disability in my right hand makes it nearly impossible to hold a rod very well in my right hand so no spinning rods for me anymore.
  7. Have you considered a Mettle from Academy Sports? Normal price is 49.99, but they go on sale for 29.99 a couple times a year. But last year (2011) Black Friday, they were $24.99. I bought 10. Great warranty. Casts a long distance. I caught bass up to 10 lbs. with no problems. If one goes bad, they'll take it back and give you a new one!
  8. Follow me on twitter, if you want. I'll follow you. @basseditor
  9. The weight on the T-rig? I bought that many years ago. Comes through grass real well. Maybe from bullet weights company?
  10. Texas Parks & Wildlife magazine has the second annual Texas Fishing digital issue online. See the section on bass rigs with illustrations (some artistic license on illustrations). http://www.tpwmagazine.com/digital/2013/fishing/
  11. My biggest on Falcon came on 6XD bouncing off a ledge (hard to find the good ledges). Used 20# flouro. Next biggest 10" power worms, 25#flouro. Again look for rocks and brush. Then magnum flukes. Use all the above before leaving an area.
  12. Largemouth 10 lb 5 oz Smallmouth 7 lb 3 oz Brown trout 10 lb 4oz Rainbow 8 lb 15 oz Steelhead 17 lb 6 oz King Salmon 25 lb Lake Trout 34 lb 10 oz Walleye 9 lb 14oz Arctic grayling 5 lb Northern pike 54" (measured only) Cutthroat trout 11 lb 12 oz Brook trout 4lb 2oz Muskie 42 lb
  13. I too have trouble adjusting tension knob on Revo 3 STX. My Lew's are much easier to get dialed in. I bought the Revo 3 for the little more line capacity.
  14. Rig on an open jig head and fish around rocks. Start with quarter ounce. Heavier heads on windy points. Or on a weed less jig head and fish in cover flipping or pitching. It's best used as a craw dad imitator so concentrate where the 'dads would be.
  15. I've tried most brands. GY seem to perform more consistently. But many of my lakes have some potential for big fish, so I like 6-7" senkos. Down at Amistad and falcon you can find 9" off brand ones. I have many 6-8 # bass on 7". 7"cast a mlle with 20 lb flouro.
  16. Great temps here in Central Texas and bass are paired up and nesting on some waters.
  17. Kistler Zbone LE All 10 of them.
  18. My number one producer is blue fleck
  19. I use Revo 3 winch to fish around heavy cover with big crank baits (6XDs). So I have 20# flouro on it, and 7-6 long rod with a parabolic taper. I haven't tried throwing smaller baits yet. I like it for this set up. I've been using a Lew's tournament pro for smaller crank baits so the set ups are different but I'm happy with both reels.
  20. I went to Bass Pro Shops last month and Cabelas yesterday. I didn't buy anything at either store. Don't tell the bait monkey. What step is that in the 12-step program? Step 2 or 3? Oops, I forgot Academy got me in between. Do I have to start over? Step 1, my name is -- and I have an addiction.
  21. Owner snagless snaps. I leave split rings on.
  22. We need rain too. Falcon and Amistad are almost 40' low. But you guys can keep the snow. I moved to Texas to get away from cold and snow.
  23. Cool, just packed my Rogue boxes last night for this weekend. It's that time.
  24. I know what you mean. My first tournament of the year is next week but I took the boat in to have filters and gear lube changed but haven't heard from the mechanic. I'm starting to stress out whether it will be ready.
