  1. The "buyout " is pending federal approval. The Feds will look at stores too close to each other. BPS/Cabelas may need to sell a few buildings to make the deal go through.
  2. It's threads like this that all anglers should read. No matter how seasoned we may be, it's nice to know the fundamentals and use them everyday. Sometimes I over complicate my fishing. Thanks Catt.
  3. I was moving some stored crates and found my old one. I remember using it a lot on different lakes. At the time, it led me to try appropriate colors I still use today. One color stood out in several lakes that still is good. But now that I've moved to a different state, I haven't taken it out, but I still choose similar colors based on water clarity.
  4. Our daughter flew in from out of state and surprised us this morning. Best gift of all.
  5. Is this because of where people launch so those areas get more angler hours?
  6. I'm just using them in the boat. So I expect they'll last a long time for me. They were on sale for $25 a pair and maybe they'll go back on sale for Christmas.
  7. I see one community pond in El Paso on TPWD website.Community lake
  8. It doesn't usually get that cold here. But it can be wet. I dislike boots so I wear waterproof socks and wear normal fishing shoes or even sandals. When it gets colder, I layer a little under the waterproof socks or wear warmer Athletic shoes. Search ShowersPass for waterproof socks. They have regular and wool waterproofs.
  9. Caught some big bass while Muskie fishing when I was around 7 in 1960. At 18 I moved from WI to out West for college and there were no Muskie there. Tried trout fishing for a while. Took up seriously fishing for bass in 1978. Fished my first major bass tournament in '83.
  10. Check the new Kistler Rods Feel-N-Reel series. They are on sale now. You can PM for a discount code. It's a new type of composites rod. I really like them.
  11. Share your catches on social media. Let's get this hashtag trending. #BlackBassFriday. Could be fun.
  12. It's the way they look that's cool. Yes, the concept is not new. In fact, they look like an ugly stick. And, they are very light and strong.
  13. Kistler has a new rod series. It's a graphite base transitioning to a glass tip. About two-thirds is graphite and one-third id glass. I've been using them the last month and if you fish moving baits, check them out on Kistler website. #getdanet
  14. good luck, is all I can say
  15. Sale price was $109. Then another 20% off starting today. I couldn't find the price online. Just on the display model at the nearby store.
  16. On the normal display. The guy at the reel counter said it was a local store deal, so I don't know about other locations.
  17. I scored some Cabelas Arachnid casting reels at my local store today. I bought 7. Only $88 each.
  18. There are often questions about Kistler Rods here. There's a sale on their Argon rods but stock is running out. Check their website. I have several of these models. I use them a lot. If you need some, this is a good deal. #KistlerRods #getdanet
  19. I used one for top water. I was using Rico popper. And I set up another for 3-6' deep cranks. These are very light rods. I can't believe how easy they were to cast. I got 3 top water bites first thing. The rods worked great. (Unfortunately, the split ring broke on one fish and the hook and fish didn't make it all the way to the boat, costing me first place.) Because the rods are so light, I was thinking they were under powered when I first held them. They worked great, but at least in my mind, I would order a slightly heavier action than I what I intend to use. In other words, get a medium heavy if you want a medium. Casting distance was very good. And even with a glass tip I could feel the crankbaits action.
  20. Not trying to confuse you, but Kistler Rods has a new series called Feel-N-Reel. It's a graphite butt tapering into a modified glass tip. The rods are super light. I'm leaving for the lake in 2 hours and I can tell you how they fish when I get back. This will be my first time using them. I'm going to be throwing square bills and medium cranks all day. I think this rod will lessen the fatigue compared to my all glass rods.
  21. I've converted nearly my whole arsenal to Kistler Rods. Soon, I'll be 100% Kistler. The KLX rods surprised me in how good they feel. For ultimate bottom techniques consider a Z-bone. Sign up for their email updates and watch for sales if you want a Z-bone. I have both a 4 MH and 5 H in 7'3" and I like the 5H a little more. I even use it for weightless 6-inch Senkos.
  22. I have a bunch of Kistlers and I've never had one break. Some are 7-8 years old. i can't say that about other rod manufacturers I have.
  23. There are hundreds if not thousands of these. If you're into Facebook, try searching groups. Fishing Flea Market comes to mind.
  24. I fish a power plant lake even in the summer. The discharge can be 105 to 115 degrees and the fish are in there.
  25. I have 3 Kistker (7'11") KLX for 6XDs up to 10XDs. Very sensitive, load up good, and can handle big fish. I also use the Kistler Argon glass/graphite cranking rods. Those are less money. They handle up to 6XDs. And, Kistler has new glass/graphite KLX
