  1. BASS Nation annual dues Ohio Bass Nation dues? Club dues? tournament fees does the club have a website that explains it all?
  2. I just saw a note It looks like StrikeKing Lures will offer unpainted lure bodies soon— you can custom paint your own SKs without stripping old paint. At least it saves a step. I haven't seen prices yet.
  3. The lakes I like to fish made number one the last few years. They got raped after that. Trust me, you don't want that designation on your favorite lake.
  4. I need to find the article, but I believe they took some surplus offspring out of the lakes and planted them into Lake Falcon this spring.
  5. I bought my boat new in 2009. The boat itself is minimal. I replaced two livewell pumps. The motor has been good so far (filters, impeller every two years, spark plugs, so not bad). Bought a spare stainless steel prop. I just started my third set of 4 batteries. Walmart Maxx 29 series. Trailer has been the most expensive repair. One axle needing replacing after warranty period, packing bearings every year or so, replaced all the bearings for the second time (for peace of mind). Need new tires soon. Then minor mishaps. Trolling motor prop (keep a spare in the boat), scratches in fiberglass need to be fixed some day, I broke the plastic arrow on the top of the trolling motor — twice. Trolling motor cables — both of them replaced now. Reminds me, I need to order a spare cable. Rope is about to wear out on TM. Most of this is because of fishing in stumps or bumping into docks in high wind. just bought a new cover too.
  6. I've ordered special runs of Senkos. Although you are looking for a standard SKU so it should be easier. I needed 6-inch Smoke/Hologram Senkos. Their standard SKUs have 5" and 7 inch. No 6" I went through a dealer who worked with me to order and gave me a small discount off retail. It took several months by the way. I had to buy the whole run. 1,750 baits and I had them packed in 50-count bags. (That's 35 bags.) I sold 20 bags to friends. (They had agreed to buy, before I ordered.) I use them for pitching in all types of cover. (Hence the 6-inch, which is a little heavier.) I've used 2.5 bags so far. And, I have a bunch of broken ones on my work bench waiting to be mended.) Did I mention this is the best color/size? PM if you want more details.
  7. That Kistler works out to be a 3 power. It's my favorite action in the Kistler line up for weightless plastics.
  8. I bought my retirement boat in 2009 and still have it. I take very good care of it. I'm not retiring for 4 more years. I was going to retire in 2 years, but will stay for 4 more years. I just bought a new truck so I won't have any big surprises when I retire.
  9. I fish Amistad a lot too. It seems spinner baits are most effective in the spring. You can't go wrong with white/chartreuse.
  10. A bass fishing magazine editor.
  11. Cabelas has a thin, balaclava that I wear. I also have, Simms hood and Gilz face mask. Cabelas also has sun gloves with leather strips on the palm, which I thought were the best sun gloves. I can't find anymore though. I saw another glove with leather palm, but I don't remember brand. Cabelas also had a glove with soft grip. i haven't tried the Simms gloves where the palm is cut out. They might be good. Shirts — I wear a Columbia short sleeve Omni freeze with separate sun sleeves. I go this route because you get ventilation up the sleeve. Sun sleeves can be found for a few dollars on a popular auction site. Thin Columbia pants are good to keep your legs sun free.
  12. Luckily, I found 25 or so when I heard they were being discontinued. I sold a few, but decided not to sell anymore.
  13. Paycheck Baits Transporter. (No longer made, unfortunately) when they discontinued them, I bought everyone I could find. No matter the frog, we make unique modificationsno one else does that I know of. with our modification, you can make a mediocre frog a good or great frog. We did a video of it.
  14. There are so many rods to choose from in the price range. I know this is above your price limit, but keep for future reference. A Kistler Z-bone 7'-4" MH rod is about 3.6 ounces. If you go custom, get a balancing kit. Then a reel in the 5- to 6- ounce range and you hardly know the rod is in your hand. Again, just for future reference if you feel you can spend the money someday.
  15. I'm not sure the depth of the structure your targeting. It takes a long cast to get maximum depth out of big deep cranks. If it is permissible, I like long lining. (Some tournaments have rules against it.) Strike King 6XDs can get down to 20-23 feet. My personal best, as well the PBs of my sons all were caught on these. We've caught many 6 to 13 lb bass deep cranking.
  16. Too much info to absorb it all in one read thru. Thanks guys. I bought Tat SV at Bassmaster Classic, but haven't used it much yet. Need to get to the dock-filled lakes soon.
  17. Understood. I was referring to how the straight tail comes through grass.
  18. That's the spirit. I'm with you. LOL. My sons are going to inherit a lot of nice equipment.
  19. There's a guy in our bass club whose goal is 3,000 bass/year. I used to think quantity vs, quality requires different approaches but he almost always is in the top 3 every tournament. He says if you're catching enough fish, the big ones will come too. And, he's over 70-years old. I have a lot to learn. He uses 4-inch worms on a Brewer pro jig head primarily.
  20. I assume you're interested in finesse fishing a 4-inch powerworm. I do use Brewer heads for the powerworm but I usually rig a 4-inch powerworm in a mini Carolina rig. Eighth ounce Tungsten sliding weight, 14-18- inch leader and 1/0 light wire Gamakatsu hook. It comes through grass pretty good. i used to use a swivel, but now I just put on a bobber stop between weight and hook so I can adjust leader length easily. Plus, only one knot. There's not much line twist from a small worm, hence no need for swivel.
  21. I find a straight tail 4-6" inch worm is better on Brewer (pro) heads than a twist tail or curly tail. Keep it eighth ounce or lighter too. I'm amazed at how many fish this set up catches.
  22. Look Into the Kistler Feel-and-Reel Rod. I've been using some under 7' and a couple 7' rods depending on target or open water presentations Kistler Rods website
  23. I don't remember ever not fishing.
