  1. Just got home off the lake. I didn’t end up casting as light as I wanted to. Sorry, I failed you. I went out with my FIL and we fished for bass, sand bass, and crappie. It was a slower type of day. I think I caught 5-6 total fish. Of all the rods I used, The SJ-703 C6O2 with the Daiwa 21 Zillion SV TW was probably my favorite. Caught several decent sand bass and a~2lb largemouth on it. Its casts so good and smooth. I was mainly using a smaller soft plastic swimbait. I think I like the SJ-703 C6O2 more than the MB-725 C6O2. I didn’t use the 725 much though. My DS-710 C6O2 spinning rod was d**n good too. It will launch a small crappie jig. IP on it is similar to the SJ-703. I hope I can get out again soon to fish them more. We were on a time limit today. Had to get back by lunch. Cold front moved in friday night, so it was 42 degrees when we launched the boat this morning. We didn’t go fishing friday. Cold front and north winds gusting 30-40 friday. We held off until today.
  2. Might be related, who knows 😂
  3. Forgot to introduce myself. I’m 42 years old, avid hunter and fisherman. I like long walks on the beach…. kidding on that. My addictions are firearms, especially custom 1911’s and my most recent addiction is rod building, and JDM reels. I’m an huge fan of the KR Concept and CCS. Still much more I need to learn. Expensive hobbies we have. I’m still trying to get familiar with the JDM line ups. Especially the lures and lines and even some of their reels that they don’t sale in the US. Not sure how I missed this forum. I’m pretty active on 1911 Addicts and the Rod building forum. Glad to be here.
  4. All my builds are on NFC but I’ve been eye ballin the PB701MHF along with the PB701MLF. I’ve read many great things about these blanks. IP is definitely higher on PB ML and MH compared to NFC. I’ll probably try the ML first. I have some Atlas carbon guides I want to try out. (Had a thank you coupon, got them a lot cheaper). Fuji guides will always be my go to, just trying these out. Atlas Spinning guide height mirrors Fuji KLH guide height. To date: Mine is on the NFC MB-725 X-Ray C6O2. It’s a medium heavy (light side of medium heavy). IP is around 685. Grip is a XO Skeleton. Guides are Fuji KW’s then KB/KT’s. Sadly, I’ve done a lot of building but it’s been my 15 year old son and FIL using the builds. Haven’t had the time to fish much. I’ll be getting out tomorrow to fish some of them. Love the look of your Point Blank!!!
  5. I debated BFS bait caster or spinning rod. I went with spinning build. Fuji Torzite KR Concept guide train 16H, 8H, and 5.5M). I splurged on the guides. I only splurge on the guides if building on a C6O2 blank. My FIL borrowed it for tournament use. I asked what line he planned to throw. He told me 12lb fluro. I tried telling him 12lb fluro wouldn’t work well at all on this guide train and I recommended to use braid or 8-10lb fluro. He didn’t listen. 12lb fluro is definitely a no go. I didn’t build it for that. lol. I think he’s starting to realize these things now. I have my 21 Zillion SV TW on my 703 C6O2. Let me know how light of baits you want me to try and I will tomorrow. I’ll start with 1/16th and work down If I miss the reply.
  6. I mainly do epoxy ramps, but I love this look and idea Mick. Do you “sand” the cork until you get the size and shape you want? I don’t ever use cork on my builds. I stick with carbon fiber grips. Cork ramp like in your picture would look great with the black carbon fiber I mainly use.
  7. Just finished my 703 Carbon Air. I’ll be taking it out Friday. All my test casts before applying thread finish, I didn’t have any issues. 1/16 oz or less, now that might be an issue. I don’t do much BFS fishing. I’ll use it for bottom contact type baits. Even crappie at times probably
  8. I built a spinning rod on the DS-710 X-Ray C6O2 and really like it. I also have the DS-721 that I’m going to build for a crappie rod. Glad you guys like it
  9. Thanks. Still learning the places to buy JDM. Digitaki, JLS, and Asian are the ones I’m aware of. And Amazon Japan. ebay I don’t use.
  10. I’m thinking it’s bad I joined this forum. I was already hooked after buying my first JDM product a couple weeks ago. Now I joined a bunch of enablers! 😂 Bought the 21 Zillion SV TW. It’s excellent I build my own rods and I’m needing a 2000 or 2500 spinning reel. Will use for crappie and bass at times. Why I’m trying to balance the reel size so I can use the reel for both, I’ve been eye balling the 24 Vanford, 24 Airity, Twinpower, Vanquish, etc. I’m definitely open for suggestions. My budget was around $250, but I don’t mind going over that either if it’s worth it. 24 Vanford for around $197 is very appealing and it’s a great looking reel.
  11. I bought by first ever JDM product. 21 Zillion SV TW. From Japan to my house in Oklahoma in 4 days. That’s beyond impressive. Just started investing in higher quality reels. My 15 year old used summer money to buy the Lews Hypermag he’d been dying to get. He had that and 3 Shimano SLX MGLS. I splurged and bought the Shimano Chronarch then the Zillion. Man, I really love the Zillion. I think most all my future reel purchases will be JDM. Anyways, new to this forum, just signed up.
