  1. Yes I meant to add the sensitivity part my bad.
  2. I have a 7’ Medium Ugly Stik GX2 casting rod and I’ve read all over the place that these things aren’t the greatest when it comes to sensitivity, and I should only stick to moving baits like spinnerbaits etc. I’m not expecting it to be a G-Loomis by any means but I should be able to get by throwing a 3.3” maybe even a 3.8” Paddletail on this setup to fish my local river for bigger fish with little to no problems right? And could braided fishing line help with throwing any other kind of baits/lures? Thanks.
  3. Hello all, I’ve fished creeks and small rivers for smallmouth for the majority of my life, and as of recent, I’ve gotten the urge to fish the local locks and dam on the Kanawha River in West Virginia. I would like to target some hybrid stripers and some other fish that could be swimming around, as I’ve never caught really anything other than smallmouth. So my question is what rod and reel setup would be best, and what lures/baits would you all recommend throwing? Thanks!
  4. Appreciate the recommendation! Like I said I was planning on fishing for some stripers and anything else that bites at my local river dam. I’m sure they would bite on the stuff I got as well!
  5. Appreciate the responses. I figured I probably wouldn’t be able to run any umbrella rig on my current setup, just thought i’d ask just in case.
  6. Hello, I’m looking forward to the spring as much as you guys are, and I was looking at smaller alabama rigs like the Yumbrella with little grubs/swimbaits so I could fish at my local locks and dam. What rod would I need for such technique, could I use my 6’10 MH/F rod that has a lure rating up to 5/8 oz, or would I need something heavier? Thanks.
  7. Hello all, I’m looking for suggestions on a rod I can use for crankbaits and finesse swimbaits for the most part, as my knowledge on rod powers and actions is not the greatest. And with my budget, I would not like to exceed $150. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
  8. I have a 7’ MH/F casting setup and I’m looking for advice on line. I’m planning on fishing paddletail swimbaits, jigs, other bottom baits, and I was wanting to ask what line I should use. I would primarily be fishing for smallmouth bass (sometimes largemouth), and I’ll be fishing in water with little to no cover with a rocky bottom.
