  1. Those two things have nothing to with each other but good one I guess?
  2. In my opinion there is less skill in using live bait. There is a reason that its not allowed in tournaments and many records arent authorized the use of live baits. HOWEVER, who cares, If thats what you like to do and you enjoy doing it then get after it. Bass gishing for 99% of people is about getting disconnected from the crazy world right now and if thats how you do it, screw everyone else. If I was you id think of a few witty one liner comebacks when people poke fun at you and continue living your best life!
  3. For me, I dont get to fish as much as I would like to. I try to do as much preparation for my fishing trips as I can to save time on the water and get to fish catching as fast as possible. I normally go out on the water with a game plan and certain baits that I think will work best for the day and the current conditions. Because of this I normally stick to what I have planned and although I have the option to switch to the various tackle I have in the boat, I stick with the plan and learn from my either good or bad decisions.
  4. The FG is completely superior in all applications and once you get the method behind it you can tie it very quickly, even while on the water.
  5. I have had extremely bad success with the improved clinch knot. I would recommend the FG Knot for braid to flouro leaders and the fish n fool knot for everything else.
  6. I really like the scum frogs as well. The only thing I do to mine is take a pair of pliers and bend out the hooks a little bit to give me a better hook up ratio. It does however, make the frog come through cover slightly less efficient.
  7. I am not sure if you get out onto the water or you are fishing from the bank. If you are out onto the water my recommendation would be to set up your fish finder and set out onto the water WITHOUT ANY RODS. Your goal while you are out is to chart the entire pond (you could also do this with a rod with the DEEPER). Set up the ability to drop waypoints on structure and try and find as many brush piles, underwater rock piles, stumps, trees, grass / grass lines and other things under the water. once you have those identified it can help really cut the pond down to a fraction of 37 acres and can give you some real high percentage areas to focus on. Here are my best producing baits for ponds ( I am in texas in an area equally as hot ) - Wacky senkos / weightless t-rig senkos (the key here is to constantly experiment with color, most people dont do that) - finesse jigs (heavy to either stroke or drag) - neko rig - chatterbait - frog - flipping grass - popper - wobble head jig
  8. I definitely will!
  9. It’s crazy how long stillhouse has been closed, it’s still 3.5 feet into flood pool. In order to reopen it has to be at or below full pool for two weeks, the once it remains at normal pool for two weeks the company engineers go out and inspect it and if it passes inspection they reopen.
  10. Current Sergeant First Class active duty stationed at Fort Cavazos here 🤯
  11. Hey everyone, My name is Stan and I am originally from the great state of Maine. I am 35 years old and have been Bass Fishing for about 10 years now. I caught the bug while I was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington where I caught a monster bass for up there (7.5 pounder). I have hopped around to many different Army bases since then and bass fished wherever I have been stationed. So far I have fished Washington state, Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, and now Texas. I am a novice Bass Angler but I am very particular about my baits and I like to really get into all the different nuances of bass fishing including map research, fish finder usage, Bass behavior and other intricacies of our great sport. I have been happily married for ten years to my beautiful wife and we have two children (1 and 3 years old). My current fishing setup is that I have a 2015 triton 18TX aluminum bass boat and a 8 foot bass raider. Recently I haven't been able to take out the bass boat due to the lakes being closed from flooding and having two children and a wife. I have been taking out the bass raider early in the mornings or late at night to get my bass fishing in and I am beginning to like fishing ponds with the raider and don't really get the urge to take out the bass boat to be honest. anyways, its really nice to meet you all and I plan to be an active member of the forum as I recently quit playing video games to be a better role model for my young boys and I find myself needing an outlet to communicate with like minded people.
