  1. There was a time many years ago when alls I threw was floating rapalas, mepps spinner and power worms on a 6’ rod with 6lb mono. Caught just as many fish too
  2. It’s fine. I tend to underspool spinning reels a bit, it helps especially with slack line techniques when you’re reeling loose line onto the spool
  3. Are the 2000 Daiwa LT (specifically the revros LT 2000) comparable to the Shimano 1000 spinning reels? Just from line capacity specs and weight the same the same. Are the 1000 daiwas similar to 500-750 shimanos?
  4. Has anyone used this reel? Need a small 1000 sizes reel for a few trout trips I’m going to make this fall. Found this reel on Amazon for $30. Anything else I should look at in the $30-$50 range
  5. I have been using trilene xl and berkley big game for over 30 years.
  6. 5-6 wraps 15lb and under 3-4 with line over 20.
  7. 150 yard spool of powerpro at Walmart is around $14. It’ll last years. I only change it when it gets low on spool from retying
  8. Same here it must be from the sun. My boxes stay in a hot garage and have had no issues
  9. I would go with a Shimano in your price range. Sedona, Sahara, nasci they’re all good and they last a long time as long as they are taken care of (not dunked, dropped etc.) I have a first gen nasci that is 7-8 years old and has never been serviced and I have no issues. I would stay away from Penn. they’re clunky, heavy and geared more towards the saltwater angler. besides pflueger, Penn is the last spinning reel I would want to bass fish with
  10. Did they change the formula in the plastic? They tear up much quicker than the last time I bought them a few years ago. Sometimes I won’t even get one fish out of them. They are tearing up just from Tex posing.
  11. I’ve been using 40-50lb power pro for forever. No need to change
  12. Braid will get cut easier than mono or fluoro. If you’re going to target pike use a short wire leader
  13. Back when I fished 5-7 days a week I would respool mono once a month. That was probably overkill, now fishing 1-2 times a week I just change it out if it gets low on the spool or at the beginning of each season
  14. In my area pretty much all the tackle stores cater to saltwater with the exception of a couple and even then, most of the time they don’t have what I need. I try to support a local shop whenever I can because when I am in need of rod or reel repair they are there to do it where a big box store is not.
  15. I’m still using 6-8lb trilene xl on spinning reels when not using braid 6lb is .008in thinner than trilenexl which is .009
  16. X2 on the weighted swimbait hook with paddle tail. I like the reaction innovations skinny dipper on a 5/0 owner
  17. Red or black makes no difference to me. I don’t go out of my way to buy red hooks but if black isn’t available I will buy red
  18. What are you throwing? I agree with the post above about recommending a casting rod. If you need a spinning rod I would look into a MH or H powered inshore rod.
  19. Yes you can use fluoro
  20. Remove the epoxy and thread that was below the tip and glue the tip back on. No need to replace the thread and epoxy. Like stated earlier it’s more of a cosmetic thing
  21. I’ve used braid mono and fluoro over the years. Can’t stand fluoro, mainly use braid and mono. Braid around grass and pads, mono for everything else. I never use a leader either
  22. JJP

    TW sales

If it’s something that is excluded from the sale I’ve called them and they ended up giving me the discount anyway
  23. I’ve been using These for a while. No issues with line fraying and paint holds up pretty well
  24. Go with the 735 for frogs.
