  1. Spinner bait, blade bait, jerk bait, trig and a jig. Mostly used spinner and trig nothing. maybe I just need to find a new pond. This d**n pond is defeating me
  2. I was at bass pro taking the kids to see Santa, ended up getting a steelshad blade bait. I’m gunna go for alittle tonight. I’ll try the spinner bait, the blade bait, the jerkbait and a T-Rig worm. Thanks for the advice guys, it wears on you when you’re not even catching a bite.
  3. Do yall think those jerkbaits should work?
  4. I’ve I’ve used that spinner bait, I’ve also used a white one Is it just more time I need? Or is it nighttime winter bass fishing in ponds from the bank is rough? That’s the other jerkbait I know the pics are crappy, but it’s limiting me on size so I’m trying to get the best ones it’ll let me post. I hold you have any spinner bait suggestions? *would you have any spinner bait suggestions?
  5. Hello all, What would yall recommend for a bank angler of small ponds to use at night during the winter months. Night meaning 9pm-1am. I’ve read chatterbaits, but haven’t have luck with those, I’ve tried top water when I’ve seen fish breaking surface but haven’t had luck with those. I caught 1 with a T-rig craw a few nights ago and that was the first I’d caught in a while and it was probably 1lb. Im a father of 5 so fishing is mostly done when the kids have gone to sleep. Id like to use jerkbaits and have a few, but never any bites. the pond is probably 10-10 acres. For forage I’ve seen small minnows I think? I have 2 blue/shiny/white jerkbait, a darker darker jerkbait. Everything I’ve read is they are great in winter, but I have no success with them. Do they work good at night? The pond has spots of depths around 15-20 feet I think, but mostly is around 10ft. any help would be appreciated. I’ve searched and haven’t found a great answer so I thought I’d ask. If there’s already a post please link it for me. It doesn’t seem to let me add a pic or I would
  6. So I took the reel apart and cleaned it a few times, the original rod broke, put it in a second rod I had and that broke when I shut the door on it…whoops i finally bought a new rod and reel Daiwa tatula ct 8.1 and a 6’6” medium heavy fast bass pro rod. Only had it a week or two but it is very nice By using the old reel on different rods and taking it apart and repairing it and cleaning it I got a lot more comfortable. And with the rod switch on the old reel I could feel the difference the rod makes. With this new reel I can cast significantly farther, it’s insanely smooth. I know it’s not the cream of the crop, but it is the cream of the crop to me. Just thought I’d shoot an update if anyone ever has the same question.
  7. I do agree it’s between the ears. But I don’t think my current rod/reel are helping much. No rush, it’s been a great starter, but I’d like something alittle nicer
  8. Just spent an hour at academy holding rods, 7ft mhf slx I think Shimano? Felt good but I think I want a shorter one for bank fishing. Dobyns fury felt good, and falcons felt good. I wasn’t sure which one I liked. Looked at reels they didn’t have a ton of options, the lews speed was one, and a Shimano lx or something another. They looked good, but didn’t feel like they were mine to buy today. I’m going next weekend with my nephew who is on a bass fishing high school team, hoping he can give me some points. ended up getting a booyah black spinner bait Colorado blade, arbogast hula 2.0 popper, and a medium profile 5/8 lipless spring craw by h2o
  9. So far I’m still rockin my zebco roam bait caster, academy sports for $50. It’s actually pretty decent, I’m down to enough tension to keep the spool in the middle and 1-4/16 on brakes. I know it’s not a great setup but it’s working until I find a deal
  10. Thanks for the welcomes. Still haven’t made a decision on a rod/reel. But from reading around I’m thinking I want a 7’2” medium heavy fast rod, with a 6.5-7.5 reel. I’d like one with breaks that are on the outside so they’re easier to adjust if needed. Still waiting for the new ducks sporting goods to open and hopefully find a deal. I went for about an hour today and got a nice one on a lipless I guess it won’t let me post a pic
  11. I'm hoping when the dicks sporting goods place near me opens they'll have some sales available. I just want to make the most informed decision and try to find a rod that will cover as many lures as possible and be reliable. and i dont get many backlashes, its really only with small lures, some of the time its poor accuracy with light lures and sometimes small backlashes, but I don't want to blame the rod or reel for that as much as my skill level. I've gotten much better over the past year, reading and practicing but still have a long ways to go.
  12. Yea I’m not in a super rush to grab the first rod reel I see, so I’ll watch for reels/rods deals I just wanna know what I’m looking for. They’re building a dicks down the road fekm me should be open in a month or so so maybe they’ll have a deal on opening. I’ll look for medium/medium heavy fast, 7:1 reel, so reels; daiwa Tatula CT or Shimano SLX XT or a bb1 pro if it’s on super sale. Rods: the Daiwa Aird X, Lews, Daiwa, St Croix, Ark, Falcon depending on deals I can find. Do any pair better? and medium heavy fast would allow me to cast well? Or is a heavy fast a better cast. I get backlashes here and there but I figure it’s the learning curve so in ok working in that. I just want the best combo I can get for the best price preferably under $200 but if it’s alittle over like $250 I could probably do it.
  13. It’s the brakes are on the outside and I set it between 0 and 2. I’ve been really focusing on thumb control
  14. And I like the rod/reel but I feel like i could improve and have more success with a nicer setup
