  1. They're made in Thailand, its a Tat, you ain't gonna find one made in Japan. I was referring to where you should be buying them for sub $150, which is always in Japan.
  2. I don't know about the Curado being reliable. In random fishing vids on youtube, i've seen many people losing the thumb bar while fishing. Don't believe i've even seen this happening on a single other reel. And those gear sets become pepper grinders real quick.
  3. I mean, the Tat 100 and Tat 80 from Japan are way under $150, and i'd say they're much better than Lews offerings.
  4. I mean, you're right, i'd say most people do care about TW. But that's only because almost all of them don't order anything from Japan. People that do order reels and most tackle from Japan, the only thing TW serves them for, is to be reminded how many hundreds of bucks they've saved by ordering abroadšŸ˜
  5. Honestly, who cares about what's on TW? Everyone in the know purchases their reels for the cheapest price possible, not the inflated ones on TW. If you're buying from Japan, those $750 reels are significantly cheaper, and much closer to Abu offerings. Not to mention that over half a grand for an Abu is šŸ˜†
  6. Makes me wonder for how much the HD can be had directly while being in Japan, when its already cheap through amazon for $240.
  7. No, just Abu in particular because they're part of the "big 3".
  8. I don't want to say that Abus are overpriced, but i have to say that they're well overpricedšŸ˜ When Shimano and Daiwa exist, what is the point of going with Abu? They don't offer a single product that is superior to the other two, their higher end reels are as expensive as Japan Made Shimanos and Daiwas, they don't retain their value in the used market, and because of the low yen, Shimanos and especially Daiwas can be had for crazy deals. How is Abu Garcia surviving against these two?
  9. I'd bet money he doesn't spend more than 15 days on the water a year. And when he is on the water, don't expect 8h+ of fishing, but more like 2-4h. He doesn't seem to be like someone who fishes much at all.
  10. The reel is super popular on reddit, tackletour and youtube comments as well.
  11. I hope nobody in here got influenced by googan squad, and bought their rodsšŸ¤”
  12. Next time you see him, tell him to get his ass back making videos.
  13. Really? Entertainment is entertainment. sure agree about tackleadvisors. By far the best fishing channel on youtube.
  14. Now that i got your full attentionšŸ˜…, how do you all feel about youtubers (him and others) suggestions? Have you purchased a reel or a rod because of a youtube content creator? If so, who?
  15. Just bought the previous version back in November. While the rod feels very powerful, haven't had the time to properly test its sensitivity, and the rod is kinda tip heavy. The newer ones sure look better, tho. I would assume they're made in China, and not in Japan like 2 gens ago?
  16. $233 for THIS is laughably good. What have we ever seen being a better deal when it comes to baitcasters? I can't think of a single reel that is this good, and this cheap. Not only is it a good base, but its a tuned version, while still ultra cheap. And people are buying CuradosšŸ¤£
  17. Never ordered one from amazon because japanese auctions have all what i would ever need. But if you're not into that, the japanese amazon seems great for the zill and the zill hd.
  18. I had two rods from the Megabass Heritage series, the Giallo Tristrado and the Rosso, and sold them both because each time i used them, i was way more worried about breaking them than catching fish. No more expensive rods like that for me, unless they have lifetime warranty. Amazing rod, tho.
  19. Charging $1300USD for a fishing rod is laughable. A d**n megabass arms super leggera costs less, and those rods are a d**n piece of art, and look better than any custom rod you will ever find. In Canada the Real Control with taxes would cost over $2000šŸ˜…I mean I don't understand what the hell is that?ā˜¹
  20. lol that ain't even remotely light. Any 100 size spool can cast it without any issues, let alone newer spools, which also tend to be lighter than older ones. You'll be perfectly fine with its stock spool.
  21. I do. The difference in construction of the alphas tw (Thailand) and the jdm 21 Zillion is pretty much null, but if i am about to spend a decent amount of money on a fishing reel (especially for reels in the $300+), i want to see that Made In Japan tag no matter what. How about y'all?
  22. How light are we talking about? Not to mention that with that reel, you have acess to the highest amount of stock and aftermarket spools of any other reel platform, so if you need to cast 1/8oz, plenty of spools for that. On aliexpress alone you can grab a cheapo one for $30 that can cast light baits np.
  23. For jerkbaits, the lighter the better, so the met dc wins here. But from Shimano, my personal fav baitcaster for jerkbaits is the Alde MGL 30.
  24. You're paying that $200 for warranty, warranty you never need for baitcasters. If you're buying one, only buy from Japan. USDM prices are laughable.
  25. Look at shimano putting DC on everything they have just so they could resell the same frames under a "new reel", and then i am being told that Daiwa has no reason to release DC reels when the patent expires in a few months. Very naivešŸ¤— As for what's coming, the Anteres looks cool, but unless its >6.5oz and palms small, i don't think i will ever be interested in buying one.
