  1. Yup, i figured there wasn't much expoxy used to hold the seat down. Its a old castaway rod thats not made anymore. I reached out to the company and they put me in touch with the person who built there rods (this was back in 2018) , needless to say he was very admitted it was my fault the the seat came undone, after that i went on YouTube and started reading forms on and off. Ill definitely look into U40 Quik Bond and dry fit everything. Im keeping notes in my phone and a notebook and plan on taking pictures and videos of everything.
  2. Look up youtube videos, theres about four of them that explain how to do it.
  3. Yes, one rod the reel seat moves and turns when you cast, my dog ate the cork to the point i can see the blank of the handle on the other rod, the last has a broken guide and the cork is old and pitted and some of the expoxy is showing up were the handle meets the reel seat. I rather just change them all as ive been wanting to work on rods for extremely Long time. I saw a couple of videos done that way without removing the existing guides.
  4. So I've never worked on a fishing rod before but read articles and watched videos here and there, i plan on removing all my old cork, the reel seat, and the foregrips off three of my baitcaster rods and replace one guide below the first eye let. I already have clippers to measure the existing cork. I do plan on picking up some old broken rods to practice tearing down so i dont mess up mine to bad. I know I'll need: Gudies epoxy thread/thread tool combo pliers to remove the old cork, some type of blade to remove the access cork masking tape new cork or eva foam (i plan on keeping the three full grips as thats how they were originally) new reel seats and locking nuts butt caps. RDS Rod Dryer with Dryer Clutch Maybe a dremel to remove the old reel seat/or a oscillating saw. Mixing Cups Brushes Reamers just in case Am i missing anything? Happy holidays guys!
  5. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
  6. Ive tried that, my rago swimbait wont fit between the walls. Thanks! Thats definitely helpful. I do have a dremel and different attachments to play around with. If i dont have a fine tooth attachment I'll be heading to the hardware store.
  7. Those will definitely work, my old man is in the construction business so ill steal his lol. And a mask, long sleeve work shirt, and working gloves as well. I'll definitely be aware on the plastic getting hot. I do have welding gloves laying around so ill probably wear those.
  8. Because i have big soft bodies swimbaits that are either extremely long, or have a wide body. I have looked at that box, and it wasn't quite deep enough. Thanks! I'll definitely keep that in mind. I'll keep that in mind.
  9. I was thinking to sand it down 400 to 600 grit, then maybe 800 or 1000 to smooth the plastic out, would that be a good start? (Not sure how to add to my post so I'll just add it in the comment section 😅)
  10. Has anyone sanded down the inside of a bass mafia 2.0 deep box? And by sanded i mean take out all the dividers and cut away at the walls till there barely noticeable and then sand the walls down by hand till there smooth basically making it a huge open core box. my question is what grit should i go about getting? I didn't wanna drop $50 on a buzzbe box nor a battle box from tackleworkz.
  11. Appreciate the feed back, i prefer to stay under $100 for my frog/toad rods and other topwater applications. have you had any trouble using a just a EWG for toads casting wise?
  12. Has anyone used Daiwa Aird X Casting Rod 7' Med Hvy for throwing toads? im looking for a back up toad since my academy has them on sale. i have the Daiwa Procyon but looking to have a back up rod.
  13. Im in west central Louisiana i primarily fish Toledo bend, Cane river, red river, Sibley lake.but ill look into the Procyon.
  14. Does anyone have any experience using either of these rods For toads? im primarily going to to use the Stanley ribbet toads,Zoom horny toads, etc. Appreciate any help.
