  1. I am a huge fan of the toxic baits whippersnapper. You can slow roll it so slowly but it’s still creates so much disturbance. Also can crank it down as a large crank bait if needed. Either way that’s my go to. Gets big fish too!
  2. Welcome from a fellow newbie. 100 days on the water sounds like a dream!
  3. Welcome from a fellow newer member!
  4. I think this was already said but perhaps it wasn’t a bass. It definitely sounds like a bite but maybe it could’ve been a trout, sunfish etc. Where I live we have a bunch a slime darts (pickerel) swiping at and picking on lures including my square bills . Usually feels kind of similar to what you described, an aggressive pulling but nothing to show for it. They’re aggressive enough to hold onto it without touching the trebles sometimes other times they engulf it to the point I’m cutting up my fingers trying to get the lure out. Either way hopefully this bite is a sign of more things to come!
  5. Thank you everyone for the warm wishes, amazed to see the wide range of people that have welcomed me. Also thank you to the poor moderator who has to approve my content before it gets posted, hope I don’t make it too difficult. Again thank you everyone for commenting and can’t wait to learn, contribute and more!
  6. I used to always bank fish, but it was always difficult because places where I live either have a jungle of weeds lining the banks or are just inaccessible. Couple years ago I got a kayak and honestly has been the best fishing purchase I have ever made, and I make a lot of fishing related purchases just ask my struggling bank account. So kayak has been my go to and as you can imagine really expanded my ability to fish, though maybe not as convenient. That being said, my PB did come from the bank… so I guess I have no idea what I’m talking about.
  7. I had a lot of success with the toxicbaits whippersnapper in a gill color scheme! Had 50lb braid on a shimano Exsence dc paired with a 13 fishing swimbait rod (forget the model). Ended up selling my Exsence last year, which I regret, I miss that reel. Had a lot of luck crawling it back to my kayak parallel with the bank.
  8. Thank you @ghost I have been mulling over getting this reel for awhile now. Mainly for inshore applications down in Florida. As you can imagine I can only bring so much with my carry ons so I have been trying to find a nice durable reel for both Wade fishing in the salt and dodging gators on the bank for bass. Both consists of long days so a light reel like this sounds very nice, I also love clicking drag. My main concern is durability obviously but only time will tell of course, But also if it can throw light lures (1/8th) for reds and trout as well as jigs for bass. After this review it is definitely higher on my board just need to find a nice discount one. Thanks again for the fantastic review!
  9. Hello everyone my name is Ben, I have used these forums for a longtime to get great real world insight into bass fishing and decided it’s about time I make an account and see if I can contribute. I’m born and raised in Massachusetts and have had the privilege to have family that adores fishing. Though I am no master I have been fishing most of my life since I was 4 years old, now going on 23. Started off catching sunfish for fish fry’s and now I am trying to break my pb largie of just more than 7 pounds. I have been apart of other forums like stripersonline and SU and have contributed to both occasionally when I could. I hope I am seen as a benefit to this community and look forward to hearing everyone’s amazing insight and being able to contribute some subpar insight of my own. Thanks everyone for reading. -Ben
