  1. I have a bag of Do-Nothing worms that I have to keep away from the house because of the smell
  2. Funny:) My musky guide buddy steered me to them as an affordable starter option. I've got the SWAT paired with a Lexa. It's been great for years, no issues so far. It's handled lots of big girls and big pike. Should I need new gear anytime soon, I'll check out the Prorex too. Can't go wrong with a Tranx - I've fished a heap with both the Tranx and the Lexa.
  3. I like Venom's goofball jigs if I'm going weedless with tubes:)
  4. Had a recent smallie fest
  5. I recently got a Cashion Element worm and jig rod - it's been good fun at its price point.
  6. When I'm fishing for musky, I absolutely do not want to see the ones that come unbuttoned. I want all the lost ones to be 32" Any other fish, I'm not fussed if I see them or not. I did watch one come off of the GDash this morning - would've been the best of the day, so that smarted a bit
  7. Doh! This thread just made me buy another for $79... Thanks everyone - shame on you...
  8. You ain't joking. I've seen t-shirts being sold that say 'I survived the fishing at...' I go to the NY river mouths a few times a year, to relax and throw in for whatever (usually catch salmon, smallies and pike). After the first time, I never again went into the rivers or near the dams, because during the run the mouths are peaceful and near deserted (which is funny because I always catch stragglers). I had two gentleman from PA show up quite shaken from their first experience in the river. Apparently a local dude absolutely lost it at several 'visitors' who were snagging, taking undersize, name it. He went through cutting lines and when they were coming for him, he pulled a gun then took off. Then I guess agents showed up but ultimately didn't do anything because the visitors had no identification. The PA gents fished with me for a bit, but just left town - I guess a couple days early. I just do my thing - ain't hard to a) be courteous and b) spot and anticipate bad apples and move on. If a fishing 'octagon' is forming, I'm heading to the diner
  9. Terrible conditions today - lake 3' flooded higher (and colder), sustained gusts >20, <1' visibility and mud. Went to the most wind protected side (still awful) and bomb casted from the bank to a rock bed I spotted from the kayak a couple weeks ago (~8-10') deep. I had a northern lights stunna still tied on from before - thought what the heck, get the line wet then change the lure. That first cast caught a 1 lber. The cadence must've been exactly right for THAT ONE fish Then moved to a black n blue chatterbait (zako), and on the first cast of that, caught a fatty (pic). Then nothing for the next 40 mins until a crappie took a chartreuse Jackall TN50 Then more coffee! Everything I know is wrong
  10. The markings on those spots are awesome!
  11. It's also from Beast Coast - a good size up from the (personal favorite) Miyagi
  12. I'm teetering on the fence. I've got St Croix rods (L, ML, MH, H), and a mix of Fenwick, Lamiglas, Cashion, Daiwa, Shimano, Dobyns, and others. I've had guides come off every St Croix, and none on the others. Hm.
  13. Took the canoe out this foggy, chilly morning. Wasn't expecting much, then wham! This one was angry at my little keitech, and glad I remembered to check the drag on the ML beforehand. Just under 21" and healthy
  14. Was very cathartic to put the hooks on new Glideways :)
  15. Took some patience, but got two pretty ones - one on a D-shad and one on a JDM finesse crank. They had a lot more fight in them than last weekend - good sign
  16. If you charged admission to see that wall, I would pay to come see it. And pay extra for the headphones tour
  17. Very nice! I have an unhealthy addiction to Beast Coast Miyagis
  18. Could've put this in the Bait Monkey thread, but just got this Dirty Jigs pack - quite like the colors, and should do well in my various spots. Haven't thrown Dirty spinnerbaits yet, so we'll see (though I have a bunch of Nichols)
  19. Never mind FFS, the Scope Stik has been catching them from the bank (also the X-Nanahan)
  20. Darn it! This thread just made me buy stuff! (now awaits trick worm and fat ika order)
  21. Still hard work around here - can only seem to get them on ayu jerkbaits at the moment. Good thing I like throwing ayu jerkbaits
  22. I rig the YUM crawbug like that :)
  23. Yep. For musky it went from 10000 casts to 'cast right there' Anecdotally, I'm told they're having better luck with it off in some waters. I only have a canoe
  24. I recently got a 6'9" Cashion Element jerkbait/topwater rod - I'm enjoying it as a budget rod. Found myself one day throwing a Mavrik, X-Nanahan, Giant Dog X and IMA Skimmer with it. Quite like how it worked - good length for me at least (opposite of tall).
  25. Thank gawd these NE Ohio bass are turning on...
