  1. This, I think. I tried to purchase before it expired but the system kept trying to issue the old license. I am licensed again. Thanks to everyone who responded. Much appreciated.
  2. Thank you. I have a habit of running into the Warden. The question has never come up until now, but I want to go in the morning, and odds are he'll be there at some point.
  3. Hi My fishing license expires tomorrow. I'm in Virginia. Does that mean I cannot fish on that license tomorrow or do I have until midnight? Thanks.
  4. Hi, I bought this ride today at the flea market. It is an Abu Garcia Gold Max light action spinning rod. It's labeled 100% IM6 graphite. It's a beautiful rod but I have no clue what it actually is or what the actual quality of the rod blank is or anything of this sort. It looks like an older rod but I cannot be sure. I'm pretty sure it's going to fish really well. It's really lightweight and feels really nice in my hand and the action on it just from flexing it and looking at how it bends it's going to be beautiful for a little panfish which is what I enjoy fishing for the most. Does anyone know anything about this rod. It says on the blank designed by Abu Garcia Sweden. There are no country of origin marks or labels on this rod whatsoever so I'm pretty sure it's not made in china. Unless it was made in a Time when this country allowed things to be made in other countries and imported without country of origin labels. But I am not anywhere near an expert on stuff like that so I could be wrong. But if anyone has any information about this rod I would very much appreciate it. It's going to make a really nice addition to my collection but I would like to know the quality of it so I can determine what quality of real I might want to pair it with. Thanks.
  5. Thanks. Regarding the reels the Shimano has a daiwa regal LT 2500 on it. The other rod that I will be casting most of the time has a late '80s or early 90s vintage Abu Garcia cardinal reel on it. The one with the counterbalanced handle. It's a great reel in my opinion for the price that I paid for it and it's lasted decades but the gear is heavy and I will eventually replace that reel and probably the other rod that it's on as well.
  6. Hi, my local Walmart has had these on sale for several months. I have been fishing with old Shakespeare Ranger Medium power rods for several decades at least. They were bought between about 1985-1992. I have never even considered lure weight with them as far as whether or not I might damage them. They are old budget rods that truthfully probably have more fiberglass in them than anything else, so pretty durable. But I recently purchased a Shimano Sellus. So far I'm loving it, but Shimano's rating for that medium power rod is listed as 1/16 to 3/8 oz on the heavy end. Most of the medium power rods I use go up to at least 1/2 oz, and some of them 5/8 oz, spec wise. I don't see anywhere on these lures where a weight is listed, and I'm concerned the Sellus might be lighter power than a standard medium rod. Short of a scale, is there a common way to determine the weight, or the approximate weight, of a spinnerbait? Link to the lure on Walmart's website. Apologies if not allowed, and someone tell me so if this is the case, please. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Strike-King-Promo-Spinnerbait-Fishing-Lure/20552267?fulfillmentIntent=In-store&filters=[{"intent"%3A"fulfillmentIntent"%2C"values"%3A["In-store"]}]&from=/search
  7. Hi. I picked this up at the local flea market for $10 today. I believe it is circa 1980s or 90s, maybe a bit older. I'm under no illusions that this is anything other tan a budget rod, but I'd love to know about when it was made, what construction, particularly the guides. Does anyone own one of these or remember them? Thanks.
  8. Thanks a lot, both of you.
  9. I'm in the market for a Budget spinning reel in a 3000 size. $30 is right around my price point. I know that people will recommend things like the Shimano sienna or the daiwa crossfire, those are excellent reals by all counts, but everyone who's doing budget almost is going to one of those reals. I like a little bit of color in my setup and the centron is right up my alley. Whether we're talking about the standard centron or the centron light which is a white graphite body with a blue spool. I think both of those reels look pretty sharp. I see a lot of Kastking on YouTube but I don't have a whole lot of experience with them. Has anyone here owned or used one for at least 6 or 8 months? That can give me an opinion on the reel. I'm looking to use it for bass and for catfish. I know most people would say I should get 4000 or larger size Rio for catfish. But I have fished catfish for 40 some odd years on bass gear so I don't have an issue with it. A decent bass reel will handle catfish if you use your drag properly. Anyway, I'm looking for any kind of input from experience about this reel. Thanks in advance for your help.
  10. Thanks, gentlemen. I think I got my answer. Much appreciated.
  11. Thank you. I run Copolymer and Monofilament. I tend to change my line regularly.
  12. Hi, I have about 7 rods, and precious little space in which to store them. I want to build a rack (vertical) to store them in, but the only free space I have is a wall about 26" wide that is directly over the heat register. If i were to store them there, is there any danger from heat. Will the heat from that floor register be enough to damage my rods? Thanks.
