  1. These tackle warehouse sales are getting me! Stocked up on pretty much all my line for next year. 2 packs of mono, varieties of shooter for my flipping rods and leaders, and new powerpro to respool some spinning rods. Added some more chatterbait heads to tie up skirts and some zakos to try next year.
  2. Picked up a new to me kayak last weekend from a friend that was getting rid of it. Decided to take it for a spin on probably the last available day of the year here in Ohio plus I wanted to try my new curado I got on sale. Pulled in a 2.91lber, just around/over 18” to break in the kayak!! Missed a giant just before, drag wasn’t set as much as I thought and he ran line out and I lost tension. Fun day for sure, love the fall bite!!
  3. Ike did requalify through the opens under the old format. I can see the argument for using legends exemptions, but it is within the rules so I don’t blame Jordan. I have to think two tournaments in northern Alabama made it a done deal coming back.
  4. John Cox doesn’t even have a scope on his boat and finished 12th in AOY…yes it’s certainly an advantage but let’s not act like traditional fishing methods still don’t catch fish. Im not a fan of the MLF but you also have to look at it from these guys perspective. They were promised at the time no entry fees, higher payouts, etc. Obviously this didn’t come true and MLF is in trouble imo, but hindsight is 20/20. Btw post scope Jordan Lee has won heavy hitters, 2 BPT wins, 9 top 10s and an AOY title. Im not saying he’s going to come in and win everything but to say he’s going to have circles ran around him by guys that haven’t even made a cast in the elites is interesting.
  5. You do know JLee is only 32 and smoked everyone at St. Clair this year scoping the whole time right?…. He’s not just some old guy riding off his laurels from 20 years ago and would certainly not have much trouble through the opens just because it’s a scope fest. Guy is a hammer.
  6. Appreciate the info Allen, I didn’t know so that definitely helps! I used 2 full tabs and just a few strands of accent on the smaller ones. Definitely used too much on the full size jigs just from looking at it and based on the info you posted.
  7. #1 really resonates with me especially this year. I was trying all kinds of new things and really wasn’t catching them a lot at the beginning of the year. I went back to my basics of Texas Rig creature and a Crankbait then I started filling the boat again. Always good feeling, great article!
  8. I’ve been playing around with jigs quite a bit more this year and they have really turned into a confidence lure for me this year. I was getting somewhat discouraged at getting hung up as I fish a lot of wood structure and was wanting an economical solution so after reading here and the YouTube black hole I decided to order some things from LurePartsOnline. I ordered 10 5/16 round ball jigs with the heavier hook and 10 1/2 archy type jigs. Really happy with how the finesse jigs turned out and they match up perfectly with my Missile Mini D trailers. I need to work with the tab counts on the full size jigs. They were just a smidge too full for my liking and I had to thin the inside a bit.
  9. Fished a local lake on my lunch break the other day. It’s drained down quite a bit for renovations to the walking path around which is appreciated but has made a bit difficult this year. Regardless caught two nice fish between 1.5 to 1.75lbs. First on a chatterbait and second on a buzzbait. Pretty confident if I had my kayak I could have had more out in the middle of the lake where the isolated pad clusters are still there. Both bites came from running right over the grass next to isolated pads on the ones closer to the bank.
  10. Recently made an account with the forum after reading for a year or so and I just wanted to say thanks to all the contributors on this thread. I’ve read through a couple times this year and it’s really helped my jig fishing game. I typically flip a lot of Texas rigged plastics. This year I’ve put a jig in my hand more and I will definitely say that my average fish is larger as well as a lot more catches than previous attempts with the jig. I’ve read through the whole thread multiple times, there’s a ton of great information. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone!

  12. I’ve had some issues with knots breaking on hooksets as well with the 15lb test on texas rigs. Will be going back to invizx or fc sniper. Really wanted this to work out better, I think it’s a great value at the price point.
