  1. Between swimjigs and chatterbaits, I almost rarely fish spinnerbaits anymore.
  2. I fish them just like a crankbait..............start/stop, twitch or pump the rod tip, slow steady, run it into stuff, etc......no wrong or right way to fish it. Some day one thing works better than others, and I never know what that is until I have caught a fish or three.
  3. I have an on and off relationship with these worms. I use Berkley Power Worms, and have for as long as I can remember. Seems like I use them a lot one year, then I don't for a couple years. They seem to shine for me in the same places I would toss a jig or creature but can't get bit on those, and they are still a favorite c-rig bait of mine.
  4. My favorite is the same bluegill color skirt I use on my swimjigs with a green pumpkin trailer. I have caught a few on black/blue too. Like wnybassman....white hauled water for me, or attracted pike. Which, is also the case with swimjigs.....I catch bass and pike on the bluegill, and black/blue, and just pike on the white. I will not stock white of either anymore LOL.
  5. I use the black plastic boss punch hubs and the Z-man "EZ skirts" good, cheap and reliable.
  6. I used to think I'd be fine with a pistol, but after not doing much shooting with my 1911's the last 10 years, and not really wanting to spend the time on a range and money on ammo to get to the point where I would be good enough with them to have to possibly shoot them in the dark, in a stress filled situation, with loved ones in the house, I have gone the 12ga. shotgun route. I just picked up a nice used 18.5" bbl, Remington 870 tactical at a local shop for less than $300, and have some Magpul furniture, and a flashlight on the way for it.
  7. I have had both, flip a coin. I liked the LTB better, but not because of any perceived performance up-grade, they were just a hair lighter, and better balanced, and action for action, not quite as stiff as Avids. I have neither now, and have gone to cheaper rods of a different brand, and have not looked back, so take my opinion FWIW..............which is not much. LOL
  8. I like Berkley, I switched to them from a multitude of brands like GYCB, Reaction Innovations, Zoom, robo, SK etc.... I catch just as many fish, and at $2.99/bag for the Havoc's I am enjoying the same success on the water with more $$ in my pocket. The Havoc line pretty much has me covered from top to bottom for what I do. 5" stick........check...the flat dawg creature bait that come in a couple sizes, and can be used alone, on a punch rig, and as a jig trailer.........check.........the pit boss straight tail worms that I can flick shake, shaky head, c-rig, t-rig,............check...........the bottom hopper swim jig trailer..... double check..........the subwoofer, and grass pig versatile 4" baits that I can flick shake and drop shot with............. triple check.............the money maker, 4" bottom hopper, and the back slide swim bait.................. double check.............the sick fish, and grass pig compact punch baits............... double check............the slop craw, and devil spear wobble head jig bait.................double check.......... pit bosses, and devil spears craws with action claws..........double check..............craw fatty and rocket craw About the only Havoc plastics I don't use are the 3" Powerbait twitchtail minnows, 4",7"+ 10" power worms, 4" power grubs, and a couple of Gulp products.
  9. VMC for single hooks. I really like the "bang for the buck" aspect of there "Ike approved" lineup. I switched to these from Gamakatsu, and on top of saving a few $'s I have not had any issues with them. I also really like the spin and power shot dropshot hooks. Mustad KVD Elite 2x short, 1x strong for trebles. I replace every stock hook on every hard bait with these.
  10. I have not tried the rod your asking about, but as to your first question, I have been very pleased and happy with my current drop shot rod. It's the 6'9" ML Abu Vendetta. I have used it for 2 full seasons now, and would replace it in a heartbeat with another if anything happened to it. It also makes a nice "flick shake" rod too. It's just a tad too soft for shaky heads IMHO, I use something else for that.
  11. What they said!
  12. Plastic all the time, it works just fine in cold water for me.
  13. I use Berkley soft plastics, mostly Havoc with a few Powerbait and Gulp products mixed in I make my own jigs I use Strike King hard baits, frogs, and spinner baits VMC and Mustad terminal tackle
  14. I have the Veritas 7'6" MH winch, it is a nice rod for mid to deep cranking with 5xd and 6xd sized baits, I like it.
  15. Pflueger President and be done with it.
  16. Cancer sucks............prayers to his family.
  17. I prefer the Pflueger "30" size.....it's about the same as a 2000 sized Daiwa, and a little smaller than a 2500 sized Daiwa or Shimano.
  18. I like the Pflueger Trion and President.
  19. Flip a coin. I use Red Label, my tournament partner uses Vicious. We both only use the respective lines for leader material, and in 3 years neither of us has had any issues.
  20. Nonsense........I have fished them in thick weeds and they work just fine.
  21. Never had an issue, either new or used. Know what your buying, and pay with paypal and it's all good.
  22. I tried them................if you live in an area with a lot of panfish you will pull your hair out. They are tiny, and the claws are held on by a dental floss sized piece of plastic. They work, and I caught fish, but not any more or less than I did on a more durable bait....just my .02, which of coarse is only worth .02, LMAO
  23. I like the Mustad fast-tach heads, that way I can use the hook of my choice, and change it if I need/want to. I prefer to keep that rig in contact with the bottom at all times, so I use nothing lighter than 1/2oz.and often use 3/4 or 1oz. Havoc pit bosses, and devil spears are my favorite baits, both in the "regular" and small sizes.
  24. 3700 size box, sorted by size/style/weight and color. This is what I carry in that box, and use, and catch plenty of fish on: Finesse flipping jigs, 5/16 + 7/16 oz. Both in black + blue, and green pumpkin/brown Grass flipping jigs, 3/4 + 1oz, also both in black + blue, and green pumpkin/brown football jigs, 1/2oz + 3/4oz.......black +blue, an green pumpkin/brown Swim jig 1/4,3/8,+ 1/2 oz.....Bluegill and White 3/8's oz bladed swim jigs..........bluegill and black/blue Simply, yet effective for me, and I'll let my results speak for them self.
