  1. Nothing out of the ordinary down here in Wyoming county. And that said "ordinary" is too much. Especially since it hasn't stopped since.........oh mid November. I will say the banks from just plowing my driveway are as high as I have ever remembered seeing them in the 15+ years I have lived in this house. We're running out of room to pile it.
  2. I interpreted it as "drop length" too....hence my answer. If we're talking leader length, I go with about 5-6 feet of fluoro tied to the braid, and reties when it get's under 2'.
  3. I have my reasons. My results with my choices speak for themselves.
  4. Braid = everything...with a fluoro leader if needed. Mono= backing.
  5. Is it yours? Just asking..........given past past circumstances and all.
  6. My kids are vaccinated. The flu shot I am on the fence with.
  7. I have little exp. in rivers, save for a few feeder/outlet creeks on the local lakes...........but the bends or channel swings are almost always productive, providing the fish are there. It's one of the few times of the year on our seemingly "pattern-less" lakes that I can just about call my shots. The turns or bends don't even have to be obvious either, just a slight 1 or 2 foot change in depth where the old silted in channel gets close to the bank or goes around the bend will do, and any cover, such as weeds rock, wood on those spots is the "spot on the spot".
  8. Pretty much the same here. Cold water = short length, and I move it up as the water warms through spring and summer. There are some times in the summer when I shorten it back up again, but that is usually a trial and error process. And as the water cools back down in the fall I go from long back to short.
  9. The President is hard to beat for $60, and the less expensive Trion at $40 is no slouch either. Pair either of them up with a Berkley Lightning rod shock, or Abu Vengence/Vendetta/Veritas (depending on how much you want to spend) and you'll have a quality combo. Check your local DSG's, or F&S stores if you have them in your area too, right now a 6'6" or 7' M Abu Vengeance paired with an Abu Cardinal STX is on sale for $69.99....and my local stores had them marked down an additional 30%. Ringing up at $49 bucks. Both are good "bang for the buck items, that normally retail for $49.99 EACH, so your basically getting half the combo for FREE. Both are quality items, I have had several in use for a couple seasons now, and I grabbed a couple more while they were on sale. I bang the drum pretty hard for economical gear here, and if it's junk I would say so, but all this stuff stands up to my use..........and abuse, and at the end of the day I have more $$ in my pocket.
  10. Same here....and add square bill cranks to that too. If I had to guess % wise of how much I use each it would be: Swimjigs: 40% Square bills: 40% Chatterbaits: 15% Spinnerbaits: 5%
  11. A guy I know uses them, but was always complaining about several things with them........price, durability, availability, etc....I gave him some of my Boss "invader" jigs. Now I have to beat him off with a stick and keep my eyes on my jig box in the parking lot after tournaments LOL.
  12. I'll take all unwanted black max 2 reels ....as long as they are left handed. I have several, and they are decent cheap reels.................but what do I know?? I only fish just about every day from March - Nov. and abuse the crap out of my gear and have yet to break one.
  13. VMC for single point hooks, Mustad for trebles.
  14. Largemouth: 6lbs 4oz. SK KVD frog in the color Stump Jumper (practice fishing) Silver lake, late July 6lbs 2oz. Homemade 1/2 flipping jig green pumpkin w/green pumpkin Havoc pit boss trailer (practice fishing) Silver lake late Sept. 5lb 8oz black and blue Havoc flat dawg with a 3/8oz tungsten sinker pegged to its nose in a Tuesday night tournamet on Coneus lake Early Aug. then there were a whole bunch between 5 and 5-8 that I can't remember except 1, which was caught during a tournament on Silver lake flipping a 1oz green pumpkin Havoc pit boss in early Aug. Smallmouth: I didn't crack 5lbs again this year with them, but I caught a whole bunch that were pushing it: 4lbs 14oz 3/4 oz wobble head jig w/ a green pumpkin Havoc Devil Spear Silver lake tournament late August. 4lbs 12oz same bait, same tournament 4lbs 11oz same bait, late October on Silver lake practice fishing and then too many low to mid fours to count or remember, most of them on wobble head jigs, or flick shake with a 4" finesse worm.
  15. I had one and liked it a lot, sold just to free up some funds for other "projects". I'll be getting another one before too long.
  16. I'll donate some of my girth if I could only figure out how to get rid of it.
  17. LOL at people who use the word "investment" to describe fishing gear. Other than super high end JDM collectables and antique tackle, fishing stuff is a money pit that only goes down in value with use..................including the fancy $70K boats. The word you looking for is "spend" not invest.
  18. Top water strike are visable, no need for a fancy rod, IMHO. My TW rod is a 6'6" M Berkely Lightning Rod Shock, with a Daiwa Exceler 100HL spooled up with 20lb braid. My previous TW set up was a 6'6" St Croix, LTB witha curado 51E.....guess what I catch just as many fish with the cheaper stuff.
  19. Ughhhhhh.....poor thing. Hopefully it all gets better soon. Thank god it was just her hands and not her face or a larger area. What a mess that would have, as if this isn't enough. I think you need a new sitter if she's able to even begin to get that close to something that hot.
  20. I am planning on not going. Nothing I see/want.
  21. $29...that is the cost of one NYS resident. My wife never goes, so we don't buy her one, and both my kids are under the age in which NYS requires one.
  22. Stainless, but I got the SR9...not the 9c
