  1. Grass, and docks/boat hoists with posts. With wood ranking right up there. I hate pads, but love matted milfoil. That said, I'll never bypass a stretch of pads. My least favorite is floating docks/swim platforms. Our lakes are loaded with them, but I can count on one hand the number of decent bass I have caught off them. Part of the problem is they are usually out in no-mans land to get away from the grass, and usually only hold small schooling suspending fish. They are panfish magnets though, so you would figure decent bass would probably not be too far, but I probably just suck at fishing them, and move on pretty quick.
  2. Docks. Which is perfect, because I like to fish them.
  3. The open circuit is pretty much the same. And when it's not working they switch colors LMAO.
  4. Both, and also like a crank bait.
  5. 20lb braid with a fluoro leader. Adjust the leader to the conditions. Generally I run 12lb for ripping grass or laydowns, bump it up to 15 for rocks and docks.
  6. I know snag proof, and spro both have put on "frog only" tournaments in the past.
  7. The devil spear is my favorite wobble head bait FWIW.
  8. Sick fish works good for me, and price IS an issue, that's why I use it. My favorite size/color/hook combo is the 1/4 oz 5/0 belly weighted VMC swimbait hook, with the 4" sick fish in Clear Bream. I have always had good tail action from them, even at slow speeds, no boiling needed.
  9. I'll let you know when the ice finally melts here, should be mid-june at this rate.

    Scope Rings

Take a look at Primary arms they might just have something that works for your situation...good quality stuff with out a high price. I have not been unhappy with any of there house brand products. Best bang for the buck in affordable optics, mounts and acc. out there right now IMHO.
  11. Have children. Soon your disposable income will be a distant memory.
  12. I keep it simple. In water less than 50 degrees I throw two hardbaits, a 1/2 oz. lipless (I prefer the SK Red Eye Shad) and a suspending jerkbait. Once in a great while I will throw a flat sided diving bait like a KVD 1.5 flat, or go 180 the other way and toss a wide wobbling smaller diving bait like a SK series 3/3xd. But honestly after many years of trying stuff in cold water the lipless crankbait/suspending jerkbait is hard to beat where I fish.
  13. I was one of the squawkers................but it was all for not, the F2's worked just fine. The new ones might be the best yet...$2.99 a bag and no scent making them fully ready for a dab of megastrike. I have a healthy stock of Havoc Flat Dawgs, but will be mixing in some of the new YUM products. They scratch me right where I itch..............in the wallet.
  14. Same here. Save for a few basic confidence colors, the only reason I stray from those is out of my curiosity. 99% of the time 99% of almost any of the colors will work. If I don't have that "one" color that is going to work that 1% of the time, well, so be it. As a side bar, I always know when I am talking to a complete idiot when the first question they ask me about fishing is "What color?"
  15. Getting to be enough WNY guys around here now that we could have a WNY Bassresource member get together some time this season...I'd be game.
  16. 20 lb braid, with an 8,10, or 12 lb flouro leader.
  17. I agree with the Lightning Rod Shock. I have several of them with Presidents and Trions mounted on them. Great "bang for the buck" combos. I fish with them just as much as I do any other rods in my boat (Abu Vendetta's, Vertias's and Vengeance's) and they are in the same league.
  18. Don't "over grease" them either. Mine get a couple pumps before it moves the first time in the spring, a couple more mid season if all I have been doing is short trips, and since I carry a grease gun with me in the truck at all times, usually a couple of pumps before head home from the ramp on the last trip of the year so some fresh grease has worked it's way around in the hups before it sits all winter. Any time I go on a trip longer than my usual couple miles to Silver lake, I pop the caps and check before I go. If I know I am going to be going to Conesus a couple times in a row, I'll give it a pump or two, or if I am getting on the interstate and heading further away I will put a pump in as well. Notice.................just a pump or two. Don't want to have the seals pushed out, that will lead to more harm then good.
  19. Cheap Walmart kids scissors. They last about a year, then I get a new pair.
  20. They are all good. My favorites (don't know if they are the best, and don't care.........they work for me) are the Havoc baits. #1 reason: Bang for the buck. $2.99/bag agrees with me on many levels #2 reason: They work as good as any #3 reason: They are available everywhere I go You'll find a Pit Boss rigged up in some fashion on my deck every day, all season long. Either as a stand alone bait for flipping/punching or pitching, or as a jig trailer, or on a shaky head, or a multitude of others ways. Next to a stick bait, it's probably the most versatile bait in my boat. I also like the craw fatty, slop craw, and rocket craw for various other niche applications. That ugly little, hunk of "do nothing" plastic slop craw has really..REALLY...saved the day for me many times. I like to K.I.S.S. on colors.............green pumpkin (sometimes with various colored flakes) and black/blue are all I need or use. Claws or appendages dyed in orange and/or chart. are an option I use often. But with the dyes...less is more IMHO....I don't go wild with it.
  21. We have one around here, decent store. No better or worse than Gander Mtn, much better than a DSG or Walmart, but not quite a BPS or Cabela's.
  22. I can weld. Good enough to make a living at it? No. Good enough to get things back together and usable on the farm again? Yes. I am self taught, and learned the "easy" way. We have always had mig welders, and auto darkening helmets at work. But put a stick welder in my hand and things get pretty interesting pretty quick.
  23. I wacky rig money makers all the time on a drop shot. The #1 VMC spinshot is my go to hook for this.
  24. Squarebills (I use the SK KVD's in the 1.5 + 2.5 sizes): Orange belly craw, natural bream, chart./black back, chart. sexy shad, and yellow perch Lipless ( I use SK Red Eye Shads) : Chili Craw, Albino Craw, Yellow Perch, Gold/black back, chrome/blue back Diving cranks (I use SK 3xd's, 5xd's and 6xd's) Sexy Ghost minnow, Chart. sexy shad, Chart blue back, Chat belly craw, and yellow perch
