  1. I am back to loving Strike King. There Premier Plus and KVD baits are flat out fantastic.
  2. I have my Revo S's on a St Croix Legend Tournament 6'6" Med. Fast, and a St Croix Legend Tournament 7' Med. Fast. I have had my Curado 101D on the 7', but I moved that to another rod. The Revo seems to "feel" better on those rods IMHO. Take a look around and you might still find the pre-2008 Legend Tournaments for less than $150, I paid $150 each for the above mentioned rods. If not, I am a big fan of the Fenwick HMX's a 6'6" MH is a great "all-purpose" rod. I am putting a soon to be bought third Revo S-L on that rod. I have yet to fish with the 2 Croix rods, but I am sure the will be perfect for what I want. The HMX handels just about every thing well.
  3. It said I was Anakin Skywalker
  4. I am pretty sure Muddy you and I both are big fans of the Fenwick HMX, in fact they are the only <$100 rods that I kept when I upgraded to St Croix's and Kistlers this winter, thats how good I think they are. I have nothing bad to say about the BPS Bionic Blades, Extreme's and Cranking Stick I have used either, all great rods, and when they are on sale are probably the best "bang for the buck" in rods. I have also been really impressed with the Shimano Compre, I fished with a freinds a few times this fall, and find my self fondling them every time I go to the tackle store. And for a real cheap rod, you can't beat a good old Berkley Lightning rod. In fact I am thinking about picking one or 2 up to toss in truck for pond fishing.
  5. #1 Spiderwire Ultracast #2 everything else I switched to Spiderwie Ultracast last year after using Spiderwire Stealth, and trying Power Pro and Suffix. I don't know what every one see's in Power Pro, I didn't like it at all.
  6. Quite easy if you read enough of their posts to get a good sample of the BS they are laying out. Almost as if some people are too stupid to remember what lie they told yesterday. I was catching up on episodes of The Bass Pro's today and in one particular Art of Angling, Rick Clunn made a very good point. Clunn stated that when you're dealing with young or new anglers, they tend to brag about every little thing. Spend a week here and you'll find that out very quickly. You know what, that's fine. I was a kid once, I know what it's like. Or at least I have a few memories of being a kid. There are people here who in the span of two to three weeks go from being a complete novice to proclaiming master-level proficiency. And they're not a poser? The net is full of shams, posers, wanna-be's and brown-eyes. Why would this forum be any different? I know we're all here to learn or share knowledge. It's just that some attempt to do the latter when they haven't done any of the former. :-X My thoughts exactly, I like to get them riled up too, then the expertise flies.
  7. Under $100, I recomend the Fenwick HMX ($90) in either 6'6" or 7' MH, or a Shimano Compre 6'10"(also $90) MH X-fast.
  8. Shad Raps, Drop Shot, Split shot, small top waters and jerk baits, grubs, 3" tubes w/exposed hook. Thats what I would use it for.
  9. Revo is smaller and lighter than Citica, old green Curado is smaller than Citica.
  10. I am here in the north too, I have seen 12 lbs win , and seen 25 not in the money........depends on lake and season.
  11. Well as luck would have it I have both a Citica 201D and a Revo S-L, and once owned a Curado 201B. I was one of the few who got a lemon Curado 201B, and I didn't own it for long. As for the Citica vs. Revo, flip a coin. I have fished one of my 2 Revo's, but the Citica is new this winter, so I would favor the Revo as of right now. I have practice cast with the Citica and it's impressive, so I really don't think you could do wrong either way.
  12. No, they are on sale for $55 according to the flyer I just got.
  13. 30 or 50lb Spiderwire Ultra cast braid.
  14. Storm Swimbaits.
  15. I always start with the #10, if they are short striking or just following I move down to the #8. I fish the #10's on casting gear, this year it's going to be with 10 or 12lb Trilene Flurocarbon, and the #8's on spinning gear with 8lb Trilene Flurocrabon. Last year I used mono, and never had issues, bt ould like to get the baits deeper and have been told Fluro is just the ticket. I use Clown, Silver, Gold, Olive, and Perch in both sizes. Smallmouth love the Clown color.
  16. Thanks sonny, I turn 32 in April, I never said he knew nothing, I said because he owns the rod he thinks it's great. I don't own the rods and would be skeptical to beleive it's better than a GLX, Legend, or what not. Jealous??? I think not. : BTW as a farmer I might just start growing carrots to cash in on the huge boom in the market from all the rods beeing made.
  17. As far as opinions go..............thats a pretty bold one, but typical from young guys who just bought the "latest and greatest", and want to be an authority on something. Ya know, I wasn't even gonna respond to that trash.....but..... That's a bold statement from someone who doesn't know who he is talking to.... Age has nothing to do with. Just who am I talking to then ??? He is entitled to his opinion that he thinks his rod is better than a Croix, Loomis, or what ever, I am entitiled to my opinion on his opinion. Just like you are on my opinion of his opinion............go fish your orange carrot rods and don't worry what I think.
  18. Except the gimmicky twitching bar, and the frame is plastic UNLIKE the Procaster 100H 6+1 which was aluminum. I personaly would not buy this reel. For a few moer dollars you can get a Quantum Accurist AC500Cx with an aluminum frame, or the new Daiwa Exceler, also with an aluminum frame.
  19. Baby Bass, Watermelon, Watermelon Red, Green Pumpkin, Pearl White, Albino Shad, and Mardi Gras
  20. As far as opinions go..............thats a pretty bold one, but typical from young guys who just bought the "latest and greatest", and want to be an authority on something.
  21. Pike are much more efficent at thinning out small bass than humans. All the lakes here in WNY have pike in them, and our bass populations are fine, if not excelling. You won't see an bass with long skinny bodys and big heads around here, infact our 12" fish are COMMENLY over 1.5lb's. Other places I have been a 12" fish is less than a pound. The adult pike will eat plenty of small bass..............so what, if you like catching small bass then I can see this as a problem.
  22. This is just my own personal tastes, but I won't go above a M power rod in spinning. I like to fish line 10lb or less and like a bit of "give" to the rod so I don't push the line to it's extreme limits. Also I like 2500 and smaller size spinning reels, those reels have spools that are perform best with 6 or 8lb line. the 3000 and 4000 size reels IMHO are too big and clumsy.
  23. Why wouldn't it work for BC? One reel for each rod, then order a couple of spools from the parts list, ebay, etc......have them spooled and ready to go. Choose reels with easy spool access and you're set. The spools are far easier to store and carry then several reels and far less expensive. Why wouldn't it work??? Call Daiwa, Shimano and/or Abu Garcia and ask for a spool assembly for any of the popular casting reels, then bend over!! It is almsot better to buy another reel for what they get for spools. Last time I inquired to Daiwa about this aspare spool for a TDA was $60+
  24. I have a couple Revo S's, and a Daiwa Advantage. I like the Revo better and bought another. I do not dis-like the Advantage, just like the Revo better. The Daiwa's brakes are by far the best magnetic brakes out there, and easier to adjust on the fly thanthe Revo's centrifical brakes. BUT I am always adjusting the Daiwa, withthe Revo I have it set with 2 pins out and leave it all the time, I get the occasional over run, but it's more my fault than the reels.
  25. My dad does not fish, I have fished with my grandfather all my life though. He doesn't carry a tackle box now, just uses my stuff. still has his stuff though. There are Daredevil spoons, Johnson Silver minnows, Original Rapala's, Jitterbugs, Hula Poppers, Mepps spinners, Manns Jelly worms, Orginal Creme worms, lots of live bait rigging terminal tackle.
