  1. I have found this to be the case with other St Coix rods as well. SCIV/LTB/LTW are stiffer, but lighter, than Avids/SCIII which are stiffer, but lighter than SCII/Premier/Mojo/Triumphs of the same powers and actions.
  2. Never had any trouble with Revo S's, Quantum Accurist PT's, Shimano Citica's and Curado's, reels I didn't not like over $100 Daiwa Tierra, Advantage, and Fuego, and the older Revo SX, and STX with mag brakes..............I guess I am not a mag break guy. Funny thing is I have had some sub $100 Daiwa reels with mag brakes (Capricorn, Procasters, and Exceler's) and I liked them ALL better than the higher end Daiwa's.
  3. Some ones doing you a favor IMHO. Save your money and buy a real set up. Those Walmart baitcasting combos are junk.
  4. Then it's not like any Culprit I have ever seen/used. Unless it's REALLY old, I started using Cuprit worms in the late 80's and they all had a flatish side.
  5. Often times it's not about the weight needed to punch through, but the ROF.
  6. BTW the DT Fat03 is a great crank to start with, but branch out a little, there are days when that big bait with wide wobble just doesn't seem to interest them. You don't need to spend a ton of dough, Bandit 100's are a good smaller square bill, and they often work very well for me on days the DT Fat03 is not catchng much.
  7. Probably the same 4 I carry
  8. A 7' Medium power, fast action rod would be your best bet for versitility with cranks/traps. Is the best for each.......no, but it will toss and fish both well. Keep the diving cranks to mid depth runners, like DT 10's, SK series 4's, Bandit 300's, and the lipless baits to the commen 1/2 oz size, and one rod will handle both fine. Some decent rods in your range that I have fished are: St Croix Premier PC70MF $120 St Croix Mojo MBC70MF $100 St Croix Triumph TRC70MF $70 Fenwick HMX 7' Med power, fast action $90 BPS Cranking Stick 7' Med power, fast action $69, on sale often for less, this rod is a bit more specific to cranks, the rest you could fish plastics/jigs on as well if you match the bait/tackle to the rod.
  9. In the case of the DT Fat03, I like the orange belly, gold side, brown back color Rapala calls "Crawdad". Second would be brown back/chart belly.
  10. There are a few gulp products I like for drop shotting, and alot that I don't. Goby's, 4" minnows, 4" leeches, shaky and slim shaky worms, any gulp worms infact, sinking minnows, and just about any other gulp product are in the "do not like" catagory. However...... there are 3 or 4 different gulp baits that I like and produce very well.............I 'll keep that to myself.
  11. Looks like my lame attempt at humor with you went over like a wet blanket.
  12. I like my jigs compact, so I thread them on MOST of the time. It's still a bulky profile when threaded. I rarely spear, and when I do it's usually out of lazyness.
  13. I'll second the waxworms. When they are biting good I go with plastics just to keep from rebaiting every 15 seconds. But if the bite is slow bluegills can not pass up a waxworm. I know alot of guys like spikes, but I don't. I have yet to find a time where they bite spikes better, or that they prefer them over waxies.
  14. HAHAHA giving away my beaver tactics I fish it much the same way, it's amazing how you can flip a milfoil patch witha beaver and 3/8 oz weight and haul water, then go back through with a 1oz pegged to it's nose and load the boat.
  15. Shut up you fool!!!!!!!! ;D ;D
  16. I have owed Triumphs, and Premiers, and currently own Mojo's, Avid's and Legend Tournament's. If it's made by St Croix, it's made well, reguardless of where it was made. Some say the early Triumphs made in China were a little iffy, but I have not seen that.
  17. Welcome fellow WNYer
  18. I like it, I have been using it along with Power Pro for my braid and have no preference, I just buy what's available and cheaper where I'm at.
  19. I have a buddy who I think has one of every rod made. We went to Erie last fall, and he had a Vengeance, a Vendetta, Mojo's, Carrot Stix's, Kistler's, Cumara's, and the list just goes on. I brought my stuff, but fished with his when I broke off and we were on fish and retied later. I used just about all of those rods that day. Honestly, I liked the Vengeance, but it was the lowest end rod in his line up, and I can't remember the length/power/action it was. 7' M sounds right, but I am not sure. I could feel bites just fine drop shoting in 35 FOW, but it was calm that day, and they were just about ripping the rods out of our hands. Weight wise, it was fine, not to heavy. I actually like the handle better than the Vendetta, no big metal reel seat nut to bug my fingers.
  20. How do you put up with idiot fans?
  21. Ahh....................call me stupid I didn't click on the link, thought you were talking about the soft ones.
  22. How are they holding up to the teeth around here? Mend-it only does so much.
  23. You had it nailed at #1...........LMAO ;D
