  1. BTW why is Boyd missing a tooth in your photo?
  2. Apparently the BS is not limited to the weigh in stage ;D
  3. I should have known better than to open a thread started by airbourne_angler.
  4. A Shimano Citica would be my first choice, and I would rather have a used Curado B than any BPS reel as a second choice. I like Revo S's enough to have a few, but I like Shimanos better, and I won't be buying any more Abu's unless I get a great deal on a dual brake STX. Don't discount Quantum, the old Accurist PT is one heck of a reel that can be had for $50-$60 bucks NIB right now. I have one of those and it's my favorite non-Shimano casting reel. I am not a Daiwa guy, at least for casting reels. I have had Tierra's, Fuego's, Advantage's, and the Cabela's/Daiwa Prodigy............not my cup ot tea.
  5. The Outdoor channel has a special airing next week in which he parts the Red Sea with one of his tour edition cranking rods.
  6. Hmmmm...........being a raiders fan, there is not too much I can say that will make sense to you, brain damage of that magnitude is irreversible.
  7. Really?? You seem to have mastered the English language in your short visit to earth. Yet rod/line ratings are beyond your comprehension? Who would have guessed.
  8. I fish at ice out, at ice up, and on the ice. I never stop.
  9. I fully expect Martens to fold under the pressure and at the very least whine and cry about how people fishing too close to him.
  10. If your a good buddy, I don't care how close you get as long as it's not a tournament. If I don't know you, stay at LEAST a reasonable cast away, and don't cut in front of me, go out and around me, or get on my butt, unless you ask, then despite my bubbly personality here, I am usually pleasant and will let you, unless it's a tournament, then just don't ask and go away. I do the same in return.
  11. Totaly agree.......bass fishing has been over run by ****** bags. Nothing more bad than a bunch of white guys fishing with there hats on backwards. Now I gotta go chase some kids off my lawn.
  12. If your talking strictly rivers/moving water I agree. But there is 15"+ of ice on my lake right now, 10"+ on Conesus, and 14"+ on Honeoye. I was out there today, this little warm up is not going to kill the ice. Just stay away from any run-in spots. If this lasted a week, yeah, forget it. The shore ice would be shot. To the OP, 4" of good CLEAR "black ice" is the LEAST I will walk on, I like to see 6" to feel 100% about it. I will never be the first one on, or the last one off in a season. Let the crazy idiots test the ice. I usually let my buddy Noel walk out first ;D
  13. Man.............your old lady must be sore this morning.
  14. I have a few of the XPS professional shallow runners w/the coffin shaped square bill, that go for $6.99. The hooks are crap, but I have caught plenty of fish on them. I'd buy more if they were cheaper, but for a store brand w/crap hooks $7 is too much for them. Even more so when you can buy a Bandit and fish it right out of the box for $5.
  15. Fish the wind blown bank, with lip less cranks and/or suspending jerkbaits w/ longer than normal pauses. If the water is cold AND muddy....................stay home and wait for it to clear up, the water may be cold still, but they will bite better IMHO in clear cold water than muddy cold water. And by muddy I mean choc. milk, a little stain in the water is good.
  16. 3 feet of visability isn't clear water where I come from.
  17. Will this be the year he finally walks on water??? Some of you act like he already does. ;D
  18. Daiwa Exceler, I have used and owned Tierras, Capricorns, and Advantages from Daiwa. Presidents, Supremes, and Medalist's from Pfleuger, all of them cost more (except the President) than the Exceler, and none of them IMHO offer any thing the Exceler doesn't for less. Hard , for me, to justify spending more for cosmetic frills like the fancy finish on the Tierra, or the air bail on the more expensive Daiwa's. And the Pfleugers..............I was a fan once, but once they start to wear a little and get a little dirty, they get noisy and rough, and you can't bring them back. Cheaply made to offer a mirage of high performance at low cost.
  19. It's going to be 50+ degrees on Thursday 2-17-11, and my lake has 16"+ of ice, it's not going anywhere any time soon. If you want a nice day to ice fish where you don't have to be bundled up in the shanty with the heater on full blast, this is it. I'll be out there, and have enough extra gear for some one to join me. Bluegills will be the target. PM me if your interested, like I said I'll be there regardless, good way to cure a little cabin fever.
  20. Last year I bought the flipping hooks in 4/0 and 5/0. I found they were very strong, super sharp, and the keeper held the plastics in place well, and they worked like they were designed. I liked them just fine, but I don't like them enough to pay $10 a pack for them when Gamakatsu now has a flipping hook, so I am not buying any more. There is nothing, NOTHING, about them that makes them worth twice as much as any of the other brands.
  21. Really??? : : Mass hysteria over a BPS flyer. They must have ran out of paper, I have only got what? 10 catalogs since the start of 2011.
  22. Thinner braids will dig in no matter what you use for backing, the backing, for me, keeps me from having to fill the spool with expensive braid, and having the braid slip on the spool. That's where I use the tape trick. Guys would let a little more line out than a long cast and put a few wraps of tape around the spool, that way if they backlash, it would be contained to just the line (plus a little extra) your casting, and not explode the whole spool. It works as an anti dig in measure with braid too. Line can't dig in further than the tape, and usually a good long cast, few arm length strips of line, wind up tight, and your back in business.
  23. Wow, you're a jerk... It's what I do
  24. I started reading The Walking Dead after the AMC series was on last fall. As I'm sure many others have. I have read all 80 issues so far and find myself waiting like a kid for the next one. When I was kid in the 80's I read the Marvel GI Joe series. I actually just sold my complete collection of them a few years ago.
  25. I can be a jerk on 3 or 4 different forums at once.........it really takes little to no skill, just a little versatility. ;D As for fishing, you have to roll with what you have been delt with for the day, even if it means getting outside your own little set way of doing things. Yeah they bit jigs under docks well the day before yesterday, today they are not, can you adapt and find the best way? You might have to go crank a weedline, or run a frog through the slop. I see SOOOOO many guys who can NOT catch them unless they are biting the way they want to catch them. They usually do what they do very well , for this example I 'll use senkos as the crutch as they seem to be the bait alot of people lean on way to much. Put a jig or a crank, or take them to deep water and DS and you might as well take them to the moon.........they are lost. Well I guess that explains how to NOT be versatile........kind of the same thing.
