  1. I don't drink pop anymore either. Early december for me, lost 10 lbs just by cutting it out and not doing anything else.
  2. When I was not on the farm as a kid, I was in old fashioned mom and pop Italian and Greek resturants. The Olive Garden might as well be IHOP to me.......actually I like IHOP better LOL.
  3. After visiting many rural area Walmarts around here nothing shocks me any more. I have yet to see a toddler smoking, or people totaly naked, but I might not be there at the right time.
  4. Your killing me. LOL, that revo I traded you is good luck.
  5. Bass = zero, but I have not been out yet. I have caught uncountable numbers of bluegills while sitting on the ice this year, but that ended 3 weeks ago.
  6. Is it restricted to USDM baits? If not get some JDM stuff, they have a ton of cool little baits that we don't get.
  7. Your missing the point, glass is stronger. Thats not what I disagree with, I disagree with your ignorant claim that high end graphite rods are super fragile. You like what you like..........fine. I will not argue any more about it, people who know whats what, know ignorant, uninformed crap when they see it.
  8. Depends how cheap you can find a NIB Curado E7, the new Chronarch E7's are $199 most places, with the $30 rebate it brings it down to $169, I think there are quite a few new Curado's floating around for less than that. Personaly I like the green better, and see no reason to jump to the Chronarch when E7 are still around. Now when the Curados dry up yes......
  9. Don't ask me how many time over the years I have not followed my own advice on the tires LOL.
  10. STFU!!!! LOL... Every bit of my home lake is ice free.......except the launch. It'll be gone soon, maybe even by the end of today. I am shooting for tuesday as my first day out this year. That is if we don't have to work. Rain on monday so probably no work. Fingers crossed. There are plenty of places with totaly open water, but with $4 gas and good fishing 10 mins away, I can wait.
  11. I like to eat fish, so I keep fish to eat. Not bass tho, mainly panfish. I am 100% C&R on public bass water. There are enough people that do keep, not to mention natural mortality, the unavoidable few that die from being caught, etc....that I don't feel the need to harvest. If I start seeing signs of stunting in my home lake, then yes, I will start to keep. So far thats not a problem. On small private ponds however, it can be a problem. When we were building new ponds seemingly every other year on the farm a while ago, I was able to just stock one pond with the culls from another, and keep things in balance. Well we stopped building ponds, so I had the neighbors who built ponds take all the the bass they wanted, it still didn't put a dent in them. Now I have the latin american guys that work on the farm keeping every thing they catch for table fare, and they still pump out fish. In those cases C&R is a harmfull practice.
  12. Since your getting it for free, spending some...SOME.....money on it to get it going if need be is no big deal. Before you tow it home check the tires, make sure they are fully inflated, and there are no horribly dry rotted spots that will blow out on you on the way home. If there are, your better off making a return trip later with a jack and better tire (s)and putting them on before you even move it, then having a blow out on the road. It also wouldn't hurt to take some grease with you for the wheel bearings.
  13. Since I often go straight from work to fishing, even tho I wash my hands, I am working with oil/grease/diesel fuel/etc....I use scent to cover that up just in case. Does it work? IDK. I catch fish, so it don't hurt. I use Megastrike. If a bait has scent, like SK coffee scent,Gulp/powerbait, or Netbaits scent, I don't bother. I mainly use it on unscented plastics like Zoom, Yamamoto, Z-man, etc...
  14. Wow....I am actually surprised this is a conversation in 2012. Unless you talking cranking rods. But since about what?? At least the early 80's graphite has been in the mainstream for general purpose rod use amongst the serious and even casual bass anglers. You must really love those old fiberglass rods to have bucked the trends of time for so long. Not making fun, or trying to start anything, just, as I said before, surprised. You owe it to your self to try even a very modestly priced graphite rod.
  15. You got to wonder if the colts can hit on two QB's in a row, the odds are against it. In fact very few teams have ever had success replacing there "legend" QB's right away with franchise level QB's. Off the top of my head the only ones I can think of are Rogers replacing Favre in GB, and Young replacing Montana in SF. But those two at least had sometime behind the guy they were replacing to learn from. Luck (or so we assume) is going in to a team in total rebuild mode. Look at some of the long, long struggles teams like Buffalo, Miami, and Denver have had replacing Kelly/Marino/Elway. They all thought they had there "guy" at times too. I am not wishing the Colts to fail (I only wish that on the Pats.) but betting the farm on a rookie and showing your best player the door is pretty risky.
  16. Some of you know I am a big St Croix guy, both in size, LOL, as well as fandom, but I have to say " what are you doing?!?!?!" putting that crappy 1970's style hook hanger on the new Rage rods. C'mon even the Mojo has a t-rig hook keeper. It may be small trivial detail, but it's a turn off on those rods.
  17. The rock bass/smallmouth cross breeding is non-sense. Some times they just have red eyes..........why................only god knows. I do seem to see more with red eyes in the spring, maybe a spawning thing, but IDK .
  18. Should be fine, those are great cranking rods for the $$. It's one rod I wish I didn't sell. Mine was a7' M, but it was a good GP cranking rod.
  19. If you can't catch a bass out of a pond on a 5" wacky rigged senko, there are no fish in that pond.
  20. I do not thing there has been one time in the last 20 years, boat/shore, ponds/lake/creeks, that I have not thrown soft plastics or some sort or another at least once per outing. Might not always have been a T-rig, but I always seem to have some thing rigged up.
  21. Good choice, I have nothing to add LOL
  22. It used to be closed in NY too, now it's C&R year round, (a few bodys of water are still closed) and "keep" or as I like to call it, tournament season, runs from the 3rd Sat. in June till the end of Noevember. You can't use live bait during the C&R only part of the season. I had lots of private water around the farm that I could bass fish during the "closed: season years ago, and I often did a lot of Pike/crappie/walleye fishing in the old days
  23. You say in your original post you want a reel for cranking? What type of cranking? I would not recomend or use the same reel I use for deep cranking as I do for shallow/GP cranking.
