  1. Nor here, but I don't subscribe to the "if you can't beat them, join them" idea. There's enough idocy and rudeness on the water, I don't need to add to it.
  2. I guess I am "blessed" to have lakes with abundant cover. And I know guys illegally plant brush here to have the "spot on a spot" type deal for a competitive advantage during tournaments. Thats what ruffles my feathers, I guess if it's perfectly legal in your area, and it's improving fisheries to do so, and not "cheating" like it is around here, than have at it. I'll take back what I said as a blanket statement on planting brush as a whole, but I still feel how I feel about it for the reasons it's done around here.
  3. It's illegal in NYS, and I wouldn't do it if it were legal. Personally I think it's pretty sad if you can't find and catch fish on the natural cover and structure of the lake and have to resort to planting brush to make your own secret fishing spots.
  4. For tournaments, I rig everything the night before.........and thats about it.
  5. I have never caught a fish or won a tournament using a texas rigged senko with a tungsten sinker pegged to it's nose.... Nothnig to see here, mods, lock this one up and delete it...
  6. I am not much of a football jig user, but when I do those are what I use too. I did make up some myself, using the Revenge football heads and Boss skirts, and those are pretty nice too.
  7. I made my own jigs this year using the Lureparts 1822 milfoil/dock jig heads, and boss skirts from TW, and like them better than any store bought jig I have ever had. I use two trailers, beavers and paca craws. I like the baby paca craws as a jig trailer better than the paca chunks, plus, the added versitility of being able to use them t-rigged by them self if the jig bite is not on. Keeps the amount of plastics I carry around to a managable pile.
  8. Thats the 6935 model, personaly I prefer the 6930....or in TW lingo the 1236652. That reel is 8.3 oz's, and holds 145 yds of 6lb line, and 130 of 8lb..............perfect bass size. I have owned the next size bigger in the last generation of Presidents, and IMHO it was too big.
  9. I use the Falcon K-wacky hooks, and like them. There are a few tricks to them tho. #1 Do NOT fish these hooks on light line with wimpy rods. They are heavy wire, and the weedguard takes a little "umph" to get a good hook set. They are also not for smaller baits. A 5" Senko is as small of a bait I would fish on them. But if you like putting wacky rigged 5", 6", and 7" senkos into thick cover, with heavy line, and big rods, then these are THE hooks for it.
  10. My 2006 Traker PT170 came with a 12v, 46lb Motor Guide. I ran it for a couple years and decided I needed a bigger one. I put a 24v, 70lb variable speed Minn Kota Maxxum on to replace it. 4 of the 6 mounting holes lined up, I had to drill the other two..........it's no big deal. The Minn Kota will come without a plug on it, so you can just splice the plug off you current motor in so it matches the receptical in your boat. You might want to check the gauge of your wires that run from the battery to the TM plug, most people say you want 6 ga. My boat has 8 ga. and since It's not a long length of wire between batt. and plug, and It's only 17' aluminum boat which that 24v motor pulls around with super ease, I left it alone, and have not had any problems. Other things you'll need...........obviously are a 2nd battery, and a good multi-bank charger.
  11. IDK what I would have, but what ever it would be, there would be more than one of them so when I break one, I have more.
  12. I like to drop shot 1" Gulp minnows nose hooked on a VMC #8 spinshot.
  13. Today is three weeks. Some would say I have been a little "snippy" as of late........But, 3 weeks, no regrets, got to just keep lugging along. One thing I have noticed, is I do have vast stretches of time............days in fact now, where it never even enters my mind. Then something stupid sets me off and then I'll have a few frantic moments where I am moody as heck, and need to just take a break. Hopefully that goes away after a while. My wife says it's getting better, and it's something that I am actually noticing it now. She said the first week and a half I was more jerky than usual.
  14. Congrats.
  15. I don't know.... Really, I don't. I actually for the time being think I am all set..... Bwahaha..... Okay, so I can't even say that with a straight face. Probably going to be a Fenwick Elite tech smallmouth rod, if it's a spinning rod, it will be paired with a pflueger president spinning reel, and if it's a casting rod, I think I have to try a Lews reel.
  16. I'd like to be able to get stuff for free, with free shipping.................LMK when that happens LOL.
  17. I am using the VMC "Ike approved" swimbait heads.
  18. I creek I like to fish has a path that runs from town to the lake that see's all kinds of traffic. For years people have tossed junk in the water. Some of my best producing pieces of cover in there have been said junk. The biggest fish I ever caught in that creek...a 6lb 2oz. LM, came off a white plastic lawn chair.
  19. Well the first thing I would do, is change that filter, and add some star-tron and seafoam to the gas then see what happens.
  20. For me: Tubes...........at least for largemouth, I still drag them around on jig heads once in a while for smallmouth, but I have not used one LM fishing in at least 5 years Jitterbug......First topwater lure I ever used, and ever caught a fish on. I used for 15+ years, then I stopped, for no good reason. Buzzbaits.....Same as the jitterbug, always used them, alwasy caught fish with them, I just don't use them much anymore. Spinnerbaits....I put this at the bottom, because I still carry and use them, just not as much as I used to. They did see quite a bit of action this fall for me, and put some decent fish in the boat, so they will always have a place, it's I rarely think of them as a "go-to" anymore.
  21. I see..................that's much easier to under stand ..........WHAT?!?!?!?
