  1. I did, back when I had one (7' M) and I didn't care for it. I have also since then tried all my other cranking specific rods for topwaters and jerkbaits, and the results are the same............I don't like it. A 6'6" M power, fast action rod is where it's at for me as far as top water and jerk baits are concerned.
  2. I find myself using frogs as "walk the dog" type baits even over open water and doing quite well..................err........I mean they suck, better stick to spook or something.
  3. Definitely not a Storm Twitch stick, they look more like a LC Pointer. That's either a Clunn STX, or MB 110. Like crestliner2008, I have fished them all and it's the guy pulling the trigger more so than the bait. I'll take the sub $10 baits like the Storm, SK KVD'S, and the Clunn STXs any day over $15 pointers, and $25 MB 110s in the pike infested waters around here.
  4. I have the up most confidence in the R.I. beavers, and thats my brand of choice.............but when I have been out, I have caught plenty on the Yum, Strike King, and other assorted brands. They all work, pick one YOU LIKE and be done with it.
  5. VMC "Ike approved" swimbait heads.
  6. On my casting set ups this is how I do it: Cranking rods......20lb (one M, one MH) Jig/worm rods.....30lb (one M, 3 MH's) Frog/swim jig/spinnerbait rod......50lb (MH) Flipping/punching rod....50lb (H) Top water and jerkbait rod....20lb (M)
  7. Thats just flat out wrong, especially in 17+ 20lb test, it's not as good as Abraz-x, but it's better than Invis-x (as far as abrasion resistance goes) within the Seaguar line, and it's leaps and bound better than Vicious, Trilene 100%, , and Vanish. Which I have tried first hand and found them all to be worse than Red Label. I'll be the first to admit, that if I fished super abrasive conditions more often, I would probably opt for the Abraz-X, but to say Red Label is awful is pretty opinionated.
  8. That's like asking if ww2farmer will eat pizza and ice cream. <---------------------have you seen this picture?
  9. Sure, why not.
  10. Exaclty what I would do............if I used fluoro as main line. I'll also add that Red Label is a great line for leader material.
  11. I think your still going to be disapointed in that head. Bullet or pointed jig heads come through grass way better than round or football shaped heads. I also prefer the line tie to be in-line with the hook (at like a 28 degree or so angle) rather than flat. Personaly I have found 90 degree angle heads to be the worst for coming through grass, but I like them for dragging on rocks .
  12. I keep two pairs of gloves on the boat when it's cold...............the same two I use for ice fising. I have a heavy insulated pair that I use when motoring from spot to spot, and a light weight pair that I use when fishing, fingerless gloves have always felt strange to me. If it's really cold, I 'll have some of the warming packets in my pocket.
  13. I like the SK Sexy frog, and the Booyah pad crashers. Every color works, but I am partial to anythng with a yellow or white belly.
  14. It's - 6 right now here, coldest I have seen it in a long long time.
  15. During the cold water period here (ice out to ~50 in the spring, and ~ 50 to ice up in the fall) I have the following rigged up and on my deck at all times: Dropshot Shaky head Finesse jig Suspending Jerkbait Lipless crankbait
  16. Paca Craws.
  17. Good luck man, think positive and you'll be OK.
  18. I use braid as my main line for dropshotting 100% of the time............BUT, I also use a fluorocarbon leader mated to the braid with the Alberto knot 100% of the time as well. No problems/issues for me. When I first started using the leaders, it was not because of line visability, it was because of how limp the braid was, and the stiffer fluoro made the hook "stand out/up" better. IDK if it matters, but it mattered to me, so that's why I did/do it.
  19. I was at..................according to the NFL.............the 9th coldest game in NFL history back in 1994 when the Bills played the Raiders. It was 0 with a -32 windchill........I don't remember it being too bad. As long as you keep your hands and feet warm it's fine. We even sat in the tunnel end zone which is in the east end of the stadium. The wind blowing out of the northwest off Lake Erie was right in our face...................I don't know if I would do it again tho...LOL.
  20. Take it back to Wal-mart...........if you have your receipt, they WILL take care of it. If not, Abu will.
  21. Paca Craws when they want something that flaps, beavers when they don't, and GYCB fat baby craws when they are being really picky. I use a Rage tail grub almost exclusivly on my swim jigs.
  22. That will be fine. I toss my swim jigs on multiple rods, basicly any thing I have in the 6'9"- 7' - 7'3" range that is MH in power will do for me.
  23. I don't bother, if they are not sharp they get tossed. Just the way I do it.
  24. I use 20lb braid. I add a fluoro leader, usually 12 or 15lb for shallow or lipless cranks, and 10 or 12lb for deep cranks.
  25. I don't care what I am imitating, as long as a bass thinks it's food I'm all set. I take people who don't fish much with me a couple times a year, they see some of the stuff I have, like spinnerbaits, jigs, etc.....and always ask what's that suposed to be. I give them the same answer..............I don't care, as long as a bass thinks it's food. They often respond with "I have never seen anything like that in the water".......to which I usually say back...."you ever seen a hot dog growing on a tree? yet you eat that."
