  1. I know guys who punch with fluorocarbon, I don't do it, but it works for them and I have never heard them complaining about it.
  2. I use my 7'6" H Abu Garcia Vendetta. $80, and a heck of a lot lighter and less tip heavy than the 7'9" St. Croix Mojo swimbait rod. It's not rated for as big of baits, but I throw 5 arm Alabama rigs with 1/4 or 3/8s oz. heads on each arm, and some 1 to 2oz. hard swimbaits with it, and it does fine. Plus it doubles as my flipping and punching rod. Pretty versatile stick for $80.
  3. Three colors will do...........a craw color, a shad color, and a bluegill color. The baits; SK KVD 1.5 SK 1/2 oz. RES Storm Wiggle wart SK 5xd Manns Baby 1- Those will cover you from top to bottom, cold to warm water, all 4 seasons, and can be thrown on "regular" tackle...IE not cranking specific gear. Which is nice to have, but IMHO not needed for those baits.
  4. On the lower end of your price range at $80 is the Abu Vendetta. I use the 6'9" ML/XF spinning rod and like it a lot.
  5. Well two of the three I ordered came today (the other should be here soon). All I have to say is, it's been a long long time since a new rod has wow'ed me after buying sight unseen, and upon the un-boxing first impression, these look and feel fantastic, I can't wait to use them.
  6. Generally, as a rule of thumb, I stay with the stock size that came on the bait.
  7. I don't carry everyday, but when I do it's a full size, original USGI 1943 mfg. Remington Rand 1911A1.
  8. Give me $1000, I'll let you sleep on my couch, and we'll hit the local lakes around every day for a week or so, you'll catch plenty because...................well you'll be with me. If not, you can at least take pictures of all the ones I catch.
  9. I like them. Caught some decent fish on them last spring when the water was too clear for cranking or swimjigs. Some guys say they don't swim well at slow speeds, but I went through several packs of the 4" ones and nevr had a problem with them swimming at slow speeds. The plastic/paint smell they have is potent, I keep mine well lubed with megestrike. I fish them on the VMC weighted "Ike approved" swimbait hooks. 5/0, 1/4 oz works good for the 4" size from the bank out to 15' FOW or so, any deeper than that and you'll want more weight.
  10. No......Silver, Conesus, Honeyoe, are my rotation.
  11. Same as for largemouth. My shortest rod is 6'6", and my longest is 7'6", I have caught them on both lengths and everything in between.
  12. Lowrance Elite 4. $299, color 2d sonor and gps. I have one on my aluminum boat and have been very happy with it.
  13. I like something that's kind of clear, and then one with a white belly and a splash of orange.
  14. Braid noise............honestly, I barely notice it. The one noise I can not stand, even more than jet ski's, is the wind in my ear. If it's windy I have to put earbuds in and listen to music or it will drive me off the water.
  15. Kids will be kids.
  16. Yeah, I caught it. My guess is they taped that intro when it "looked" like EE was a lock for AOY and it slipped by them in post production.
  17. Zero miles...........I'll wait till it's thawed out around here. Untill then I'll ice fish. Even after it thaws, I don't travel much. I hit the local lake that's 15 mins. away 125+ times year, and I usually get on a couple other lakes within a 50 mile radius a few times.
  18. I would also suggest, for more versitility, going with a M power St Croix. I have had many St Croix's, and there spinning rods in MH are broom sticks.
  19. We have things with teeth here that steal jerkbaits like they are going out of style, and you don't get bit with steel leaders, so I keep it on the cheap side....less than $10 usually. I have caught tons of fish on Rapala Huskey Jerks and X-Raps..........I don't use them any more, but they do work, and work well. Currently I am using and like the Luck-E-Strike Clunn baits, the SK KVD's, and the Storm Twitch Sticks.
  20. Tons of good spinning reels between $50-$100. I like Abu, Pflueger and Shimano. I am kind of a cheap skate when it comes to spinning reels, $50-$70 is about all I like to pay. I have had good service from multiple reels in that price range. Shimano Sonora's and Sedona's, Abu Cardinal STX's and Abu Orra S's and, what many people think is the best value/bang for the buck in spinnng reels, the Pflueger President.
  21. Reguardless of casting or spinning I like the length to be LESS THAN 7', and more than 6'. MH/fast works for me in the casting department, and M/fast works for spinning.
  22. I like original Power Pro. Is it the best? Probably not, but it's far from the worst.
  23. Ok................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................done. I know it's not mush. But it's the best I can do.
  24. Yeah...........your not doing it right.
  25. Stricly speaking of Veritas's....I have many, and yes the spinning rods run stiff and heavy in the ratings too. IMHO, go with the ML, or the M (I wouldn't, as they are a little more stout than I care for in spinning rods, but they are not too stiff) The MH spinning rods are pool cues with guides.
