  1. Nope..................I'll decide when I get there and see whats going on.
  2. Usually 4 times a week. 3 nights after work that can range from 2-4 hours depending on what time we get done. And then one full day on the weekend, often for a tournament, that if the weather and fish are cooperating is from dawn till dark. Then, of coarse, my job is very weather dependent. So if we have had rain, and are waiting for things to dry out, I might fish and extra day or two in a row during the week, or if we are not super busy I will get a weekday off in between jobs and fish then too opting for that instead of an extra weekend day off. One of the perks from being with my company for 20 years is the insane amount of paid vacation time I get. I usually take 2 weeks off in late summer early fall just prior to getting busy with our fall work, and fish almost every day of that, plus I still take at least 1-2 vacation days per month the rest of the year and go fishing... I get on the water about 100- 120 times in our "season" which is from April -Nov.
  3. For me, the best time to fish a frog is when the water gets above 50 in the spring, till it drops below 50 again in the fall. I have however caught my first 47 degree water temp. frog fish this spring, sooooo....................Frogs are my #1 topwater lure. From open water, to thick mats, and every where in-between. I almost throw them exclusively to any other topwater bait, like spooks and poppers, etc... When it (any topwater bite) is on, I'll catch just as many if not more than a guy using a spook or something, because in addition to open water, I can put it where you can't put a bait full of treble hooks to pick up some "bonus" fish. And if the topwater bite is just so-so, I might not catch as many as a guy who's using a popper or something smaller, but the ones I do catch will be good ones.
  4. I fish a fluke (I actually prefer the Havoc Jerk) in water clarity that I would fish a suspending jerk bait....that is from gin clear, to very light stain. You only need two colors, a bright/gaudy color for when they are fairly active ( I like pink, some prefer white etc..) ..............twitch , twitch, see pink, twitch, twitch, see pink, twitch....pinks gone...SET THE HOOK. I also like a natural color for when dead sticking is more the order of the day....Your green pumpkins, watermelons, etc, with or without your choice of metal flake. I like to throw a soft jerk bait when everyone and there brother is throwing a senko, it's a little different, and has gotten me some big bites when the stick slingers are out in force....it's especially effective on those god forsaken days when it seems like every fish in the lake is willing to at least boil on a frog, but not actually eat it.
  5. I put a plate of my wife's "attempt" at meat loaf on the deck of the boat. Nothing in it's right mind comes within 100 yards of it. She can cook fine, but somehow the magic of the meat loaf has alluded her all these years.
  6. The sponsors here make great jigs.............BUT....if your like me, as fast as I go through them, the process of ordering and what not is not the most handy when the jig bite is hot, and need to restock quick, and they are a little on the expensive side for me as well. For finesse work you simply can't beat Strike Kings Bitsy flips, Bitsy bugs, and Booyahs Baby Boo jigs all for a $1.99 or less PLUS I can get them locally. And for a full size jig the Booyah Boo jig at $2.99 is a fantastic "do-all" jig. Almost every Wal-Mart, Dick's, Gander Mtn.,Cabela's, Bass Pro shops, etc...carries these jigs, and unless your WAYYYYYYYYYYY out in the middle of nowhere, everyone lives close to at least one of these places.
  7. You all have NO IDEA how much restraint I use on here because of this very problem. If anything it actually highlights my brilliance that I can spin the yarns I do without a lynch mob showing up here daily..................or so I tell myself.
  8. I have come full circle with stick baits. Started with yum dingers 10-12 years ago and always enjoyed great success with them. Switched to Yamamoto senkos a couple years ago to see what I was missing..... The answer.... Nothing, except more money out of my wallet. Been fishing dingers again since the middle to end of last year, and will keep on doing so. It's great to see Yum as a sponsor here
  9. Now is the time fellas..............you can catch them just about anyway you want to, and with the full moon coming at the end of the week, looking at them is going to be an option soon too. I junk fished all over the lake today, and caught them everywhere on everything.
  10. And so what if he doesn't? As long as he's within the legal limits, what business is it of yours?
  11. I will say....I ONLY like it as leader material. I hate it as main line.
  12. Wow....I'm a dragon slayer??? I'll go with it. It's a little more manly than my previous title of Turgid illusionist.
  13. Have I ever broke a rod??? LMAO that's like asking if water is wet.
  14. They steal my lures, have sent me to the hospital with nasty cuts and bites..............And I still like them. They fight better than bass, sometimes they are ON FIRE when the bass are not and it makes for an action packed day, and they are the top of the food chain. They help keep everything in balance. I have kicked people out of my boat that purposly abused one.....yeah...I fished with a guy once he caught one, smashed it's head on the side of my boat. I calmly put my road down and stowed the TM, he put his down too thinking we were probably moving, straight back to the ramp we went, and I told him get the "f" out of my boat and never ask to go fishing with me again. He looked at me dumfounded, and I repeated myself, and told him why, he thought I was joking....................until his tackle bag went flying up onto the shore spilling the entire contents. I just have ZERO tolerance for people like this, and if I saw it happening one shore with any fish, bass.pike, bullheads, bluegill.....what ever there would most likely be an altercation. I honestly don't know what you can legally do tho......if they have a fishing license, the fish are in season, and of keeper size, it might be a lost cause. Call the DEC or DNR of your are and find out....I don't advocate being a hot head like me, it could end badly. Someone who treats animals/fish like this might not have second thoughts about making you the next target.
  15. Simply put..................you were being toyed with by panfish.
  16. None of the above. I like the Red Eye Shad, and the Xcaliburs. 1/2 oz most of the time. Color matters little. Red/orange craw in the spring clear or dirty water as long as it's overcast with some wind. If there is sun breaking through the clouds, but still some wind, I'll go with a white based color like sexy shad if the water is stained, or a translucent color if water is clear. No wind................I throw something else.
  17. User error... Plain and simple. Sorry if you don't like hearing that.
  18. I fish jigs on braid, about 80% of the time with a fluorocarbon leader, and have for several years now. No issues..... I have caught a "few" jig fish...... Sooooo I guess it's kinda fine.
  19. People who think there scales are "way off" are people who think 4lbers are 9lbers.... If you're offended by this.... I don't care.
  20. Strike king is my favorite. I also like xcalibur.
  21. This is how I do it : Clear water : bluegill, perch, and natural looking crawdad colors Stained water: bright crawdad colors (like with chart or orange belly) chart sexy shad, chart blue back, and rootbeer. Does it matter??? Idk.... I have caught fish in clear water on the obnoxious colors, and fish in stained water on natural colors..... Then you have the early spring phenomenon of them biting red craw colors no matter what the water clarity.
  22. For bottom contact......the rod, for reaction baits the reel...just IMHO.
  23. I use all three sizes, in just about every way you can think of. #1 use is flipping and pitching to cover on a T-rig. I prefer the chunk as a jig trailer over the 4" but I use the 3" as a finesse jig trailer often.
  24. Hit my usual stomping grounds this evening for 2 hours after work. Size, not numbers tonight. In fact I only got 7 bites all night, 6 made it to the boat. A 14"er LOL and then a 5-2, a 4-14, a 4-10, a 4-3, and 3-12....any time you can put darn near 23lbs in the boat for the best 5 in 2 hours after work is OK in my book.
