  1. Berkley Lightning Rod Shock 6'6" M.... $39 at Walmart.
  2. Of the rods you listed, lightning rod shock all day, every day.
  3. I'll try my best to be reassuring..... Yup that was stupid, don't do it again..... How did I do?
  4. Thread the bait on the hook, and push the nose of the bait right over the wire....... Trust me.
  5. It's hard for me to explain, but easy to do. I trim the legs, but not any of this "one side shorter" nonsense, I take an inch or so off each on and keep them even. It also depends on the type of frog, some are "easier" to make walk than others, but they pretty much all can do it. If it helps, these are the ones I have, or have had and my rankings on which take the least amount of effort to make walk well. #1 SK KVD Sexy Frog #2 Booyah Pad Crasher #3 Spro Popping bronze eye #4 Regular Spro bronze eye #5 Snag Proof Bobby's perfect frog.
  6. #1 Grass.....milfoil to be exact #2 boat docks #3 lay downs
  7. NY used to have a closed.... As in you can't even fish for them until season opens.... type deal. In 2006ish (give or take a year, I don't remember exactly) they started allowing c+r only bass fishing on most waters, with artificial lures only, during the formerly closed bass season. Catch and keep, and/or tournament season begins the third Saturday in June, and runs until late November. I have seen no signs of it hurting the fishery. It gives us the opportunity to have fantastic recreational fishing during the prespawn period, yet still protects the fish from being harvested while they are spawning. Win for all IMHO.
  8. They are one of the better built rods in the price range they occupied, but there are better performing rods for the same money, if that makes sense to you.
  9. This notion that quality soft plastics cannot be had at affordable prices is ridiculous. Berkley Havoc, Big bite baits, Netbait all produce top notch stuff for generally less than $4 a pack. If your looking for a quality jig trailer that won't break the bank, give them a try.
  10. I like it a lot. It's my second favorite reel at the moment behind my Abu Revo Gen3 STX. I like it better than any of the Curados I have (51E's) or have had (201DPV, 201G) and Citica's I have had (201D's and 201E's)
  11. I don't whack them good all the time. This past week was tough. I don't know if it's a compliment or not when at the local opening day tournament, I had multiple guys come up to me and say...."we don't feel so bad about sucking today if you struggled"......which I did.
  12. I can't pick one, I like what ever is working. I am just as comfortable punching mats in 2 feet of water, as I am drop shotting in 30 FOW, and everything in-between.
  13. I have an Abu Garcia Orra winch.........they are $99. It replaced an older and heavier Curado 201DPV that Iused for years deep cranking. I don't miss the Curado.
  14. Yeah.............green pumpkin. Why? Because I use it the most. Your placing too much importance on color. Pick one and fish it.
  15. Nope they all work. I sometimes buck conventional "wisdom" and use black blue in clear water..................guess what......they bite it, go figure.
  16. Same here, except it's 16-18lbs to cash, and 19-22 to win. A limit of 12" fish does no good, even on tough days, you still need 15lbs. From the start of the tournament to the end, I fish for the fish to win.
  17. In all honesty if you have Zoom Super flukes and SK Caffine Shads, they will catch fish as well as any of them, and that's plenty, really no need for the others IMHO. BUT.....if you do want to get a bunch of different ones to try, I'll add one to your list and suggest the Berkley Havoc "The Jerk"...It's a little denser than a Zoom Super fluke, but not quite as dense as the SK Caffeine shad or Yamamoto D-shad, and it has a very nice "wiggle" on the fall. FWIW they are my soft jerkbait of choice now, after using Flukes for years, and trying the SK and Yamamotos.
  18. Which series of rods are you asking about? Vendetta? Veritas? Something else? It does make a difference.
  19. My current rods are all $80 -$130 Abu Vendetta's or Veritas's, and Fenwick Elite Tech's. My casting reels are either second hand Curado's or Revos, if I do buy new, it's usually $100ish reels, I have some of the current generation Daiwa Exceler's I like, and an Abu Garcia Orra winch, that I really like. Spinning reels.........$59.99 , that is until they raise the price on the Pflueger President, that's all the spinning reel I need for bass fishing. I had an extensive arsenal of St Croix Avids, and LTB rods for a while, and they were nice, but the cheaper rods get it done for me just as well, and I am hard on gear, so there are fewer tears shed when disaster strikes now.
  20. Don't be fooled into thinking there are "rules" about summer time bass fishing. They can and will be shallow, sometimes in great numbers. I fish lakes that have plenty of deep water available to bass, yet even when the water is at it's peak temp. for the year, I can often catch them in the dirt. If you live on a lake with boat docks, there WILL be summer time bass in the shade of the docks.
  21. They work fine, no better or worse than any other beaver type bait on the market. There one downfall is price and durability. You only get 6 for $4.99 as opposed to 10 Reaction innovation beavers for the same money, or 8 Havoc Pit bosses for $2.99.... Both of which are just as good. And as I also stated, the Rodents are super fragile, I have torn baits up just flipping and punching them in cover. If I have to change a bait before I even get at least one fish on it...... It's not for me. Especially when other stuff, that's cheaper works just as well...... All imho of course.
  22. Funny, I can skip the Booyah, and SK frogs fine, the Spros for some reason give me fits. It's one of the reasons (besides price) that I stopped using them.
  23. I use the VMC wacky jigs with spinning tackle/light lines, and the Revenge flipping wackers on casting gear/ heavier line/etc.... I used to use the weighted Falcon K-wacky hooks, but I ran out of those and tried the Revenge..............won't be going back to the Falcon.
  24. I always have at least 2, and sometimes as many as 4-5 spinning rods on the boat.
  25. Most of the stuff I use..........Havoc soft baits, and SK hard baits, are pretty much the same price at BPS as anywhere else so I always grab some when I am there.
